ambidexterity isn't as challenging as one may think. It just takes effective and consistent practice. The beginning is always the hardest but stick through it and soon enough it'll become second nature. It took me about 3 months of practicing left hand writing, 20 mins everyday until it was as good as my right hand. But don't forget to do other tasks too! brushing teeth, handling cutlery, cooking, using your mouse, opening doors, doing sports etc with your non dominant hand are small little things that overtime help build dexterity. It's a unique skill to have, definitely worth pursuing
You can’t necessarily become ambidextrous, it is something that you are born with or develop at a young age, but you can still learn to right with both hands at any age, it’s just more difficult. I love the idea of learning 5 or more languages, I currently am learning Japanese, and it is so much fun. Good luck achieving your goals, I know you can do it!
Even for ambidextrous people, writing two separate thoughts is a difficult task. I'm as ambidextrous as they get, and can do the independent writings. However it took a long time to master this. It's actually easier to just translate english to french with the same message than it is two separate thoughts. I give this guy major kudos. Impressive.
I feel the same way, there needs to be a separate name for simultaneous multitasking with both hands yet conversing too, about another topic, just needs another classification
I also believe that I'm as ambidextrous as they get since I have trained to do so many sports and activities ambidextrously. Were you born ambidextrous or trained to do so as I have?
Yes he starts writing with his left hand before his right hand (Ambisinistral) if he was originally right handed he would write with his opposite hand at first but being he is truly ambedextrous you can not tell if he is right or a lefty because he has no dominant hemisphere
It's also a bit easier to write with your bad hand when you write large. The smaller the more your fine motor skills will be inadequate with the bad hand and the writing will look shitty.
Random information. Before the printing press was created and books were transcribed instead of typed, they would hire ambidextrous people to write two books at the same time.
I've been teaching myself how to write right handed for a couple years now, because it was the only thing I couldn't do with both hands, only my left. I am now officially ambidextrous 😂💕
while writing simultaneously, he took time to finish off writing with one hand before moving on to write with the other. that's just fraction of seconds.
I write with both hands too, however, the handwriting is different as are my signatures. I don't know if I'm fully ambidextrous though as I favour my left for throwing and I'm a 2 footed kicker but stronger with my left. Playing cricket I bowl left handed but bat right handed. One thing I can't do is use a can opener right handed so I use an electric one! Some people have commented if I change hands whilst writing, but most don't notice - I tend to swap from right to left if I get a phone call & have to make notes as I always put the phone to my right ear. I do have fun with it sometimes especially with the grandkids when I do mirror writing with both hands at the same time! I think they like it more because one of them is a lefty.
Thank you so much for such a nice comment.I must say that although learning it was a lot harder than I expected,I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process from start to finish.Rufus
A disadvantage of being ambidextrous is that often, it seems, such children are frowned upon. So, parents and teachers would try and impose it on them to be left or preferably right handed. That happened to me. I would write with my left hand until the centre of the page, then put the pen in my right hand, and write until the edge of the page, and then back to left hand. Now, being a Star Trek fan, I read the book 'Spock must die' by James Blish. In it, Mr. Spock splits into two. (It's much like Kirk in the TOS episode 'The Enemy Within'.) One of them is left handed. That one wanted to pretend to be the other one, by practicing to be right handed. But, that boggled up his system, causing him to have a speech impediment. I also developed a speech impediment, after changing to writing with my right hand. That was why. I must find time to practice writing with my left hand, to go back to writing with both hands. I would write with my right hand, and use my left hand for almost everything else.
I am so sorry I know how that is a teacher did the same thing to me. Granted now I write with my right hand mostly and it’s more pretty than the left. I type with left or right. I do everything else with both hands equality. Sometimes favor on or the other. I golf with my left. Still I can do both with both hands splitting the load. Im also adhd, and struggle to process my emotions outside of what’s rational. I wish people knew more about us and how our brains work. I didn’t even know this about the emotional part until today.
Yes, it's so true that such children are frowned upon. In sports, coaches almost always discourage ambidexterity and have their students choose one arm to play with. As I trained to become an ambidextrous tennis player, instructors would tell me that it couldn't be done. When I mastered it, they gave me reasons why it won't work. They tried to act as though they know better than me even though I am ambidextrous and they are not. It is just not acceptable in most cases.
Kyrie Irving is ambidextrous, seems to work for him as he be "shaking and baking" on the court. Lol He even did a short video talking about it. Check it out
I have been ambidextrous from birth and realised in my early years that any task I learn with one hand automatically transfers to the other. I tested it by trying a new coin flicking trick a friend had shown me in class one day. I tried it with both hands first and could not do it with either. Then I practised the trick only with my left hand for a week until I had mastered it with that hand. When I finally placed the coins in my right hand for the first time, I could feel it, even before flicking the first coin over, that I was going to be able to do it just the same as my left, and sure enough I was able to.
Yeah...thats interesting.I've encountered a little of that sometimes, where the second hand has been quicker to learn something than the first.I've always assumed it was because I've layed down some of the neural pathways with the first hand.I also love the fact that whatever you read about some of this stuff there also big chunks of the learning that you have to find your own way through.....and the learning is the best bit...!
My hand to do thing Left hand - write something, brush my teeth Right hand - use strength, playing guitar, play sport like table tennis Both hand - eat food
Great.....in which case you probably can write different text with each hand if you break it down in to very small stages.Try just a single letter such as an 'L' with your weakest hand and an 'O' with your best hand.Even a small exercise like this took me a while and then I gradually made things a bit more difficult.Best of luck
Still operating with a single processor though. Would be impressive if both hands could simultaneously write out individual sentences. Wonder what his feet are doing at the time? :-)
I'm left handed, but my writing is so shit that my classmates and teacher thought I was ambidextrous because I occasionally switch to my right hand and writes equally as shit on the black board.
I heard that you should never try to use both hands as it makes you lose intelligence. it takes longer for you to write both anyway so it's pretty redundant and to sacrifice brainpower is silly. I've not seen anything positive about perfecting the use of this
No...but I've met various people with unusual combinations such as writing with one hand but will throw a ball with the other. Its interesting and implies to me that a lot of them are learned actions early on that we then become more comfortable with.It seems the brain is quite happy with either....but you have to put in the time to improve an action you have avoided up to now.
I started by writing with my less able hand, try taping down the paper at the opposite angle to how you would normally have it for your best hand. Then like with learning any skill I think regular short attempts to practise are better than periodic long bouts. For example I think three times a day for just 15 minutes at a time is far more productive than 3 hours once a week.I hope this helps. A disadvantage of being ambidextrous - is not easy to tell the difference between left and right, especially quickly. So, many judgemental people probably think you are stupid, or something. Should i consider myself ambidextrous? I can write using my left or right hand easily. The confusing thing is that even before when i was still a kid, no one taught me how to do this, it's just i can simply do it. I'm originally right handed as what my mother said but whenever my right hand feel tired, i transfer the pencil to my left hand and continue writing with it instead. Can someone widen my mind???
Don't you have to have both arms not just hands as well? I can control my right arm pretty easily but I can't with my left, though it is more flexible.

Not sure how much help I can be but will try.My practise is structured around the idea that you should get the components good on their own first. So if you are genuinely wanting to write with both hands at once I feel you should work at each hand on its own until the style is very good before trying to speed up or combine hands. All practise should be done carefully and you must concentrate to improve every time. You might find some letters of the alphabet cause you more trouble than others and might need to put in more time doing repetitions of those difficult ones for some days.Keep concentrating hard whenever you practise because otherwise you might reinforce bad habits.Keep a log of your practise sessions and work more on the things that cause most trouble. It is a simple method but take discipline to stick to it.Hope this is of some help.
I have finally found someone who can challenge me! I can use both hands independently also, upside down, in mirror and in different languages.. Your video is great! Would you like a friendly challenge? I've yet to find someone who can do this... However I believe you have an algorithm for what you are doing... your story "that means nothing" gives you ques for what hand does what.. not amazing but very impressive... please reply back if you would like a challenge.

I am assuming you have two hands and presumably one of them which is better at writing than the other.I suggest you start attempting to write more with hand which is not so good. Rufus
Yeah it is poor, the sound recording was out of hands. However I have since boosted it a little and posted this link th-cam.com/video/2HBeaSpBpBc/w-d-xo.html which is a bit better
Wow, wow, wow, Mr. Marsh is reciting a story AND witting with is left hand AND with his right hand ... managing 3 ideas at the same time !!!

Yeah, lefties have 13 August for their supposed day of awareness, recognition. But, there isn't one for ambidextrous people. Oh well, maybe it can also be 13 August.

An ambidextrous person can also be a balance between masculine and feminine.
October was also once the 8th month of the year. 'Octo' meaning 8 - there's the two sides of the letter 8.

I am assuming you have two hands and presumably one of them which is better at writing than the other.I suggest you start attempting to write more with hand which is not so good.
