    Björling is one of the greatest tenors of all time. He is an artist of the highest order. His sense of legato and lyrical treatment of line ,together with a resplendent timbre staggers me.

    Great Reactions Valerie, you certainly know your opera. Jussi bjorlings voice is so wholesome. When he sang O Helga natt, I said to my opera mates, it Can't Get any better than this!!! They agreed. Good work Valerie.👏👏👏👍🇸🇪🇮🇪🐐...

    Oh my...Jussi, Jussi, Jussi...blessed with the most naturally beautiful, tenor voice, I have ever heard. Added to that God given gift, he had power, tenderness, control and emotional expression second to none. I have run out of words. Unique. Transcendant. There will never be another. Wyn

    From Pavaotti's FB page.......“When I'm learning a new opera roll, I first listen to how Jussi Björling sang it. His voice was unique. I wish more than anything that people compare me with Jussi.”
    Luciano Pavarotti’s words in an interview by Ann-Marie Kjellander in Swedish newspaper SvD in 1988, before his first performance in Sweden.

    My favorite tenor voice in the classical repertoire. As far as the voice is concerned (and not just the voice, of course), I also love Caruso, Thill, Fleta, Wunderlich, Lemeshev and many others. But his voice is so special. Of course, not just an incredible voice, but also a superbly elegant singer.

    You guys can talk about his technique all you want, and it is impressive, but what is getting to me is his passion in his voice. You could easily make this performance and song the backdrop of a romantic scene. Just powerful!

    Since you have found Jussi i would suggest that you try his recording of "Sverige, Sverige fosterland" ( Sweden Sweden fatherland) Which is not the national anthem of Sweden but very often listen to as sametinget very similar. Best regards

      Anyone of Jussi's Swedish versions of 'O Helga Natt', "O Holy Night" give me goosebumps and a big lump in my stomach. And occasionally a tear or two, just in the corner of the eye...

    I'm not educated in opera and appreciate experts, such as yourself, who give me insight into what's going on in an operatic performance. But, I'm also interested other aspects of opera.

    I wonder why you chose this selection for your video. The sound quality is poor and this song does not display Jussi's brilliance. I hope you will highlight a better choice, there are many on TH-cam. Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair shows what he can do with a ballad, so beautiful. His 1944 Nessun Dorma slow version, unparalleled. E Lucevan Le Stelle, Che Galina Manina. Una Furtiva Lagrima, Adelaide, O Helga Natt, these recordings show why he is the MASTER.

    Dont Opera (bel canto) singers generally learn the most clean vowels for singing which is mostly means italian vowels..

      Another great opera singer to react to from sweden that isnt as known as Birgit Nilsson or Jussi. is the baritone Håkan Hagegård that also has an amazing voice. he did Papageno in the ingmar bergman movie magicflute but he also has alot of deutche lieder which are in my opinion some of the most beutiful pieces for a opera voice. :)

    Allow me to recommend the Romanian Jewish tenor Joseph Schmidt who stood barely 1.49 meters (4 ft 11) tall and who died in tragic circumstances aged 38 in 1942. I suggest his Ô souverain, ô juge, ô père which is sung beautifully in German, or one where he shows his vocal gymnastics such as La Donna e Mobile in Italian, or Di Quella Pira in Italian.

    I don’t think that having the mouth open between breath is as necessary and contemporary singing, is it?

    • @VocalSplendorStudios
      @VocalSplendorStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I do recommend it, even for contemporary singing, especially rock. . Opening and closing the mouth gets in the way of a relaxed sound so you don't have to reposition the mouth every time.
