  • In this video, I install a high performance computer chip in my 1994 C4 Corvette ZR-1. More horsepower and torque for the beast 🙂.

    so THATS what that chip is! When I bought my ZR-1 it came with that chip wrapped in an anti-static bag. I never used it and concentrated on taking care of little things it needed done. I'm certainly going to install that. Thanks for this video!

    Awesome, my chip has been on the shelf for a couple of months. I bought his thermostat as well. I have to make sure my car is always in full power mode since I deleted the secondaries. If you haven’t caught it on the forums, some people suggest to barb the ends on the bypass pipe, some have had the hose slip off. Could be the clamps they used, just to thought I’d mention it. Awesome vid, I’ll be curious to know what you think after some time with it.

    Nice job as usual. This is just paranoid me but having built computers and handled the boards and chips I always had a ground strap attached to my wrist to prevent any possible static charge from frying a component. It's just cheaper to have a grounding strap than to replace any electronics. Thanks for the evaluation, I bet you can tell a difference between the chip and the air-foil that's in the L98!

  • @White91Z
    @White91Z 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    RR….any possibility you could talk about choice of fuel in a future episode? Are you using any additives? I have been told by some not to use premium since it contains ethanol. So I filled up with zero ethanol gasoline a few days ago, but I’m worried that so few people use it. What if it’s been sitting in the tanks at the station for months and I’m introducing even more contaminants? I’ve only had my 91 for a couple of months and do not want to make an uninformed choice and cause fuel system problems. I’m also curious if any of your followers have had experience and can share advice.

    • @matt911112
      @matt911112 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 94 ZR1 and the last owner said to use only non ethanol so I have been and haven’t had any trouble. A couple of times a ran a mix of premium in it but didn’t notice a difference. If your gonna let it sit a while put sea foam in it to help keep it clean but I run 90 octane non ethanol with octane booster so far so good. I’d imagine the only reason with yours since it’s a tad older is to use none ethanol over time so the cords and injectors don’t get gunk up or corroded.

    • @White91Z
      @White91Z 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matt911112 which Octane booster do you use? I don’t want to ruin the converters. A friend says use the Lucas 3x booster, but I can’t see anywhere on the bottle that it says safe for converters. All his cars are pre converter Torino’s and mustangs. Mine sat for 31 years in a warehouse, 9650 miles when I got it in May, so I’ve been changing fluids, doing some of RRs suggested maintenance as needed and trying to not let it sit still too much.

    • @matt911112
      @matt911112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@White91Z heya sorry to reply a little late. My car had 39k and I’m about at 52k now driving. I use the the big red bottle 3x which I believe is the Lucas brand. Iv used STP and some others once in a while when I can’t get the 3x octane booster but never noticed a difference. Granted I try not to floor it everywhere I go haha. The main reason I even bother with the octane boosters is I want the highest octane I can get and it’s hard to find non ethanol at even 90 octane.
      The higher the octane the cleaner your gas burns and less likely to dirty up your engines insides. I do recommend if you still have the original fuel injectors to change them out. 94 was when Chevy introduced the fuel injectors that could handle ethanol. I use an app on my iPhone called “pure gas” it helps me find non ethanol gas stations around me. Nice car and amazing how little mileage it has. Last thing Keep on eye on that rear main seal could be dry rotted.

    • @White91Z
      @White91Z 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matt911112 hey Matt…thanks so much for all the info. I installed pure gas app and was totally surprised how many stations are close, one even has ethanol free Pure brand 93. Injectors were changed and “tune up” (whatever that means) by previous owner, same family since new. I’ve done all the fluids, pulled the airbag to repair the horn connection, weather strip in hatch, blower sensor under the hood in heater core replaced, but it hasn’t needed much otherwise. Bose system doesn’t work but I’m not tackling that. It will just stay original.
