  • Saguaro Lake Ranch in Mesa Arizona isn't just an ordinary hotel or cabin stay, it is the ultimate Old West Adventure in Arizona. This cozy corner in Mesa is one you can take your whole family to enjoy, unplug from technology and really focus on what is important.
Saguaro Lake Ranch has kayaking, horseback riding, a hike to petroglyphs, bird watching, wild horse spotting, outdoor smores, cowboy cookout, swimming, yoga, and a guided tour of the property and dam.
If you know me at all, I like the places I visit to have some kind of historical meaning - and this place has loads of it. Not only is it along the Apache Trail (which is an epic road trip in winter), but these humble dwellings that make up Saguaro Lake Ranch were used by the men that built the Roosevelt Dam! After the Dam was built, it transformed to a fishing retreat (which it still has epic fishing btw, for all my male Culture Trekkers out there). The fishing village was bought by Phil and Marie Lewis in the 1930's. They transformed the Ranch into an outdoor paradise with more than 20 horse trails that wind through the Tonto National forest, Bulldog cliffs, and Goldfield mountains.
While I was hosted by Visit Mesa for this trip, I was in no way required to write an article strictly on this property - but when I am inspired and entranced by a location as I was this - I can't NOT share it with my Culture Trekkers.

Hi! Welcome to the Culture Trekking Community! My name is Janiel Green, a Physician Assistant, Scuba Diver, Dog lover, Photographer, and Videographer! I love to make people smile, am known for not beating around the bush (unless it is in my garden). I also tend to say it as I see it before my brain can tell me its probably not socially acceptable to do so. My spirit animal is a Sea Turtle, I hate mushrooms, and don’t trust a man who lays on the romance too thick.
I love to travel the world, connect with different cultures, and find sustainable adventure. I have explored the most off the beaten path places, and cultures throughout the world. This year I’m taking you along as I explore my hometown, UTAH! From Anasazi Ruins in Southern Utah, to the High Uintah Mountains best waterfalls and camping locations.
With over a decade of professional photography experience, and a self-taught videographer and editor. I also want to teach you a few tricks of the trade to make better travel videos, and take better travel photos - even if you are a solo traveler.
Most of all, I want to help you, my Culture Trekkers, learn to enjoy those little things in life that make the soul sing. Life isn’t always easy, and I have had my fair share of heartache. I have been through the thick of it with those internal battles we all have. Now I’m completely dedicated to inspiring you on the inside to better explore the outside and find beauty between the lines of the contrasts of life. I’m so excited to have you here! Wow, thank you for casting The Saguaro Lake Ranch! I moved to AZ 1.5 years ago and this is the first thing on my bucket list. We have a dog but when his time is up and he retires, we will definitely be checking out this destination. There was not one thing about this ranch that I didn’t care for. I loved it! 🌵 🌵🌵

This is just what we need. Can't wait for things to go back to normal so we can escape to a place like this to enjoy nature and a good BBQ. That's so great that you got the manager to give you some background on the property. Beautiful place.

I keep watching it to reminisce about how fun it was.....That baked potato was sooooooo freaking delicious! The steak was spot on, but I was taking too many videos and photos and it ended up getting cold, lol. Guess that is hazards of being a vlogger/blogger.

I don't think I have ever heard of a petrified cactus! I am still salivating over the food.
