i never knew the resin dome transistors were so bad, i watched a chap called shango066 and he hated them. I have a hacker radio and it uses lockfit transistors, they are known to cause trouble as well. So far nothing has failed :-D
I've had to replace a lot plastic transistors in that Grundig Hit Boy I worked on. The transistor gain had fallen so low the LO would not run. I guess if the transistor still has enough gain, you may not know. I've also heard the lockfit transistors can fail also. Daz
Sorry to hear that you caught the lurgey, i caught it earlier in the year and it screwed up my head, mind you i'm screwed up anyway lol. I was frightened of everything, really odd. And the sad thing is i didn't gain any super powers lol. Well done with the screening, it made a big difference. The carbon ish resistors with the odd ends that lose grip, i would change all of them. Humming can be an utter sod to stop,
I must admit I still don't feel 100%, seems to have affected my eyesight. It has affected a lot of people in differant ways. I think I should have changed more resistors but lets see how it goes. Yes, much better on the Hum. Its not HiFi but it is annoying. Daz
Yes, I remember Tim Brooke Tailor in the news. I did enjoy the goodies as a lad, even though it can be a little difficult to watch now with its old standards. I think its easy to forget that COVID can have tragic results even now. Daz
Hi Daz, good to see another video from your channel. Maybe you will start a new turntable project? Seasons greetings!
I do have a few record players now to look at. I'm minded to look at my sanyo portable music centre soon. Seasons greetings. Daz
I see it uses those Fairchild, dome-top TO-105 and TO-106 transistors. Which makes it rather surprising it's actually still working.

Fairchild, ah I wondered who made them, thanks Daz

I apparently had the lurgy as well, TESTED POSITIVE COVID-19, but the symptoms were just like bad flu. Within 5 days I was back to normal.
@@michaelturner4457 I'm glad that you recovered so well :-D
