The price, design and the color are really attractive. However, the bottom line is how reliable is it? Can you do a follow up on the reliability of the car's engine?
I can tell you as a GM master tech that works for the dealers, I don’t really see any issues with them compared to other vehicles we offer it seems above average in reliability. The 1.2l has been out for around 5 years now and hasn’t show any major flaws imo. The 6speed transmission it comes with is a huge plus as the 1.2l trailer blazers had a CVT which has seen some failures, but the 6speed should be bulletproof in comparison. Will it go 250k+ miles? I guess time will tell but for the initial 100k+ miles it’s been showing some promise. I would absolutely stay on top of oil changes religiously with an engine like this though! Maintenance is everything for longevity
My concern is the opened gas tank, the gas tank does not lock even when you lock the car , anyone can open the gas tank, I also would have like if the back row middle seat would’ve been a cup holder that close up when pushed back up. Also would’ve liked another hidden front pocket in the front kinda like a sunglasses case like in the Chevy impala. Please someone correct me about the gas tank closure, I’m annoyed about that. I got this as an early Christmas present.
The 2024 Trax is a compelling value for the segment. It looks great. It's spacious for its size. It has decent performance and economy. The real caveat is predicted long-term reliability combined with a short warranty. That's a major area of concern given GM Korea's reliability track record in general, including the prior generation Trax. This inexpensive vehicle might end up costing a lot more long-term than some of its more expensive competition. It should be noted that the 2024 Trax has direct injection and a timing belt instead of a timing chain. Both areas may require additional maintenance costs over competitors that have multiport injection or dual injection and a timing chain.
We have 4,000 miles on our 2rs trim. The engine is plenty peppy, cruises at 80 just fine. It’s a good little vehicle for what it is. We will see how much we have to use the warranty.
It would have been great if Manual Mode was implemented with upshift and downshift not a button. I would convert it to that instead just to get that good old feel like on my 2013 cruze.
Your forgot that the trailblazer has a bigger engine option, AWD with 9 speed auto, optional panoramic sunroof, etc. a lot sets it apart from the trax.

They will immediately lose traction when front wheels are trying to pull that extra weight. I own a 2024 1rs Trax and I drive my car in snow with chains and I was able to drive fine without getting stuck. Not as good as a AWD but I did not get stuck.
Chains sound like a great idea. My experience when I see 8 to 12 inches of snow. Every time someone comes to a complete stop at a corner, that tends to be the big mistake . Again, I'm not being specific to this SUV just in general. When you live on the road as I do for a living, you then begin to notice the difficulties. People have with this front wheel drive type of vehicle and size. Driving skills certainly do add to the equation. Takecare
That sounds like some "internet expert" BS! A small SUV like this Trax will way LESS than a full size FWD vehicle, so why do you claim it's "too heavy"? You really don't have clue of what you are talking about.
@BlueSun2 You are absolutely correct, internet expert of b.S. Now, as I've mentioned, this is a beautiful looking vehicle. In all honesty.I have not yet seen this vehicle in snow. Good luck if you own one and if you plan on purchasing one. This chev is certainly an incredible looking vehicle for the price.
Why not mention you can turn off the on/off auto stop? You made mention of how it is when it takes off because of that feature but didn’t talk about turning the feature off. You also didn’t mention the heated seats, steering wheel etc. features most manufacturers don’t offer. I got one and it’s a really good car for the buck! It gets the job done at a very reasonable price!
I have a Chevy Trax and I love it! The only thing I wouldn’t like about this new one is no AWD. I wouldn’t be able to get up my hills in the snow without it.
from what I read online, GM said the majority of buyers(roughly 70%) didn't want the AWD option.I told my sales guy that and he seemed a bit mystified. But still, make it where the driver can turn it off or on. But then I'm guessing they'd have to bump up the horsepower like the Trailblazer which has the awd. But again, once you add that feature the price naturally goes up.
Activ should offer a power liftgate and rear vents. A rear armrest should be standard. Tail lights could use some tweaking. GM needs to Hybrid everything.
CAFE requirements. Lower price. Smaller engine displacement. Hybrids sell quickly. PHEV's are the least reliable of ICE, EV, & PHEV. Wide range? The Bolt EV & EUV are cancelled. Get one before they are gone until it comes back in 202x. The Blazer EV is still under a stop sale order. Good luck finding a Hummer or Silverado EV. Lyriq is really your only option. Ultium is a mess.
first vehicle in 55 years I have bought that tells me how to drive it and complains like hell when I tell it where to go... GM has setting you can change but they go back to factory settings the next time you start the car.. so I fail to see why they bothered. 11 imperial gallon tank that really doesn't take the vehicle far . lots of wind noise in the right rear area... dealer gave me the finger when I asked to have it fixed. radio in the info center keeps turning on by itself phone will hook up to day but not tomorrow or maybe not even next time I start the car.......dealer won't fix that either...and GM itself just laughs it off... and it only has 5000 kilometer ( 3125 miles) on it....and it is 6 months old.... so all I can say is beware....
I rather have a belt then a chain. With a belt if and when it breaks you just replace the belt, with a chain if that prematurely goes you need to replace the entire engine, and most not all vehicle makers are going back to belt.
@@dragoon666 This isn’t a chain vs belt argument. It’s an interference vs non interference engine argument. Plenty of broken belts that result in damaged engines.
@@dragoon666 It's a wet belt, It is a belt that runs through the oil. Look up Fords wet belt 1l 3cyl nothing but problems the belt degrades and travels into the oil pickup bye bye engine. Also this is a interference engine if the belt was to break also bye bye engine the valves and pistons meet each other in a bad way.
Chains stretch overtime and makes the engine out of time. The belt may contaminate the engine oil but so does the chain. Metal fragments are more destructive than the belt and oil filter catches it.
not my cop of tea. I would never drive anything like this. However, that doesn't change the fact bang for buck, you're gonna find it really hard to beat this. Some body who doesn't make alot of money, want a new car they can get this top of the line for under 30k.

A used V6 blazer or XT5 Cadillac is were I'm heading too, give it take deprecation, your getting more out of a used, more premium GM subling...
@@chriscox8515 I dont fit behind the drivers seat, when adjusted for me.. What I don't understand is the fact that the 2022 models and older were the PERFECT crossover, compact size - but now the redesign makes it huge and long. This thing, though still lower to the ground, is no longer compact in my head. Companies just keep building them bigger and bigger and I just don't think you can call this thing compact, it really isn't compact at all. Barely fits in a 2-car standard garage length-wise. I do not get it! like hello? younger/middle-aged people with no kids do not want huge cars. We want something actually compact, but big enough to tote crap around, travel, not have terrible mileage and not have to origami/squat ourselves to get in and out like we would in a sedan model and be able to park easily. We don't want a full-blown SUV which is where this thing is heading for real! You took away my Chevy Spark, so Trax was the next best thing for us until you made them bigger for no reason.
I do not like the fact they dropped the AWD we were ready to trade our 2019 bit no dice. We live in south westbMichigan and we need that traction. Our trax is a daily driver. Very disappointed in chevrolet. We are looking at a nessain or subaru all track. 😢
A used equinox is double the price of this. Most used vehicles are more expensive then a new one.. also equinox of the last generation have so many issues.
Also for lovers of cheap junk, what do you think, they bought a new car for 22 thousand, in a year you will write how many times it was repaired, and the warranty will end, try to trade it in, they will give you a thousand dollars and say thank you. The fish is cheap, but its soup is bad.
If it didnt have that god awful eco engine it would be alright. Really need to drop that tiny turbo junk engine and just put a normal 4 cyl like Honda and Toyota do.
137-hp turbocharged 1.2-liter inline-three cylinder engine , six-speed automatic over the continuously variable transmissions (CVTs)You don’t have to consider the motorcycle engine with a turbine any further. Have you been thinking about it for a long time? How long will this motor last? A year, two? This is not a Mercedes, where the engine traveled one million kilometers before the first major overhaul. They began to do everything one-time for a short period of time. And the transmission Was it really impossible to install steptronic? The transmission in general with such an engine will die at 80,000 km. Thank you, I’m not rich enough to buy such a miracle for one year. Better classic -Toyota or Honda. from what I read online, GM said the majority of buyers(roughly 70%) didn't want the AWD option.I told my sales guy that and he seemed a bit mystified. But still, make it where the driver can turn it off or on. But then I'm guessing they'd have to bump up the horsepower like the Trailblazer which has the awd. But again, once you add that feature the price naturally goes up.
Just purchase a 2024 traxtwo days ago and the back up camera won’t turn off
The Chevy Trax is the perfect New car for retired blue collar americans! It’s a very nice car with good value!
My next car 😊
Was so excited to see this and SO disappointed there’s no AWD .. went from the top of my list to the bottom
First reviewer I heard say they don't like the sound of the motor.
This has taken on the characteristics of the most recent Camaro generation. I like the looks.
Why no 4 cylinder?!
Nice looking SUV but to many little things I don't like about them #1 is Wet timing belt..
Need to bring back the monte carlo
I guess no winter time driving (snow). Cant tow crap. Looks good, but needs a bigger motor and AWD. Its a new age UGO
26K for a 1.2 liter 3 cy with a turbo that will likely fail at 85-100K if lucky. At least it doesn't have a CVT.
I don't know what he's talking about or maybe his is off somehow ....but mine is almost perfect and it's quick
No wireless charger??
Yea there's one but u have to get the moonroof in order to get it
Mine has one.
Did I miss something? Does the Trax have the back up camera?
I own a Trax 1rs , it has a back up camera. My car has incoming traffic alert not sure if all models have same feature
Pretty much all cars supposed to have back up cameras after 2019 or whatever year
By US regulation ,every new car sell must have back up camera
Activ should offer a power liftgate and rear vents. A rear armrest should be standard. Tail lights could use some tweaking. GM needs to Hybrid everything.
That will be a different model. Not a Trax
Buick Envista@@bokdcutie
Why would they need to hydrid anything when they’re the only manufacturer offering a wide range of fully electric vehicles?
CAFE requirements. Lower price. Smaller engine displacement. Hybrids sell quickly. PHEV's are the least reliable of ICE, EV, & PHEV. Wide range? The Bolt EV & EUV are cancelled. Get one before they are gone until it comes back in 202x. The Blazer EV is still under a stop sale order. Good luck finding a Hummer or Silverado EV. Lyriq is really your only option. Ultium is a mess.
@@BTC909 Ultium is a mess? Please explain how Ultium is a mess. This is hilarious.
Bring back the Cavalier
I think Trax is BOTH fun to drive and has tech!
The Buick looks better. I don’t know why Chevy persists in using acres of plastic on the grille, which cheapens the car.
Awesome, get the Buick. They don’t car anyways. They’re still getting paid we don’t care
@@Bumbumbr-zu5gc I think that's the point. Cheap=affordable
This and the Buick Envista are the only American SUVs that are 2WD-only.
first vehicle in 55 years I have bought that tells me how to drive it and complains like hell when I tell it where to go...
GM has setting you can change but they go back to factory settings the next time you start the car.. so I fail to see why they bothered.
11 imperial gallon tank that really doesn't take the vehicle far .
lots of wind noise in the right rear area... dealer gave me the finger when I asked to have it fixed.
radio in the info center keeps turning on by itself
phone will hook up to day but not tomorrow or maybe not even next time I start the car.......dealer won't fix that either...and GM itself just laughs it off... and it only has 5000 kilometer ( 3125 miles) on it....and it is 6 months old.... so all I can say is beware....
engine made in mexico transmission made in Korea. its on ths window sticker.
There is no way to offer value with an American made vehicle these days.
Timing belt if that true smh 🤦♂️
Belt in oil ...... oil is corrosive. Timing chain is 100% in any engine for proven reliability
Local dealer wants mid $500s for a lease on the Activ. LMAO. ridiculous
Debating between the Trax and Hyundai Santa Fe 😭
Same here. Which did you choose?
@@Bigsmile-ie3yi I’ve decided to go with the Santa Fe and grabbing it this week! Did you make a choice ?
Is this vehicle trax good for taxi profession?
Yes it is
Yes, but avoid two or more morbidly obese customers.
No
Get a Prius
Wow...GM invents the Pontiac Vibe
Wif you hear a rumble...the turbo is cheap and will fall apart
My Ford Maverick XLT costs less, has about 200 hp and gets me 43 mpg
i hit the penjamin and thought it was a chevy "thrax"😭😭
This is perfect for people who are under 6 feet.
not my cop of tea. I would never drive anything like this. However, that doesn't change the fact bang for buck, you're gonna find it really hard to beat this. Some body who doesn't make alot of money, want a new car they can get this top of the line for under 30k.
is there a way to make sure Lexisnexis doesn't get your driving habits and them selling that information to insurance companies ????
I checked one out a a local new car auto show..
Rumor is, this and the Buick version are manufactured in China..
I'm 6 ft + and my biggest complaint is my knees ride up the drivers door pockets and center console...
If I had too, I fit nicely inside here..
Only being FWD and 3 cy turbo is not winning me over..
Price wise, GM hit this out the park and shows a flaw in thier corporate marketing...
A used V6 blazer or XT5 Cadillac is were I'm heading too, give it take deprecation, your getting more out of a used, more premium GM subling...
Made in South Korea for North America not China
So even when scooting seat back, still tough? 6’4” here
@@chriscox8515 I dont fit behind the drivers seat, when adjusted for me..
My biggest issue is knee room, with all manufacturers having center consoles and bins on doors and the same basic interior dimensions, it's a lost cause...
New body Style Ford Explorer, XT5 Cadillac/ Chevy blazer fit me perfectly..
Microft Holmes reviewing a car!!!
lol for 2024, it's still an interesting vehicle ...
1.2 L 3 cylinder. Cant be much power there
This with a 5.3 SS impala motor in it would be the way to go
Feels like the engine is made of sand paper😂
Looks like Chevy copied Toyota's homework 😂
I like that it’s bigger! 🤷🏻♀️ The previous models were too small with very little foot room.
3 cylinders? What's the point of buying an American car without a v6?
You are obviously not an American, so how would you know? Are you still taking your dementia medication?
They hardly make v6’s anymore due to the emissions.
I do not like the fact they dropped the AWD we were ready to trade our 2019 bit no dice. We live in south westbMichigan and we need that traction. Our trax is a daily driver. Very disappointed in chevrolet. We are looking at a nessain or subaru all track. 😢
It’s a Korean car in disguise
Made in Korea btw
Uber disposable Car
You sound spoiled that is trying to sound not so spoiled

This is a wagon, not an SUV in my opinion
I stopped watching at one hundred thirty something horsepower
Skip this and just buy a used 2, 3, or 4yr old equinox🤷
A used equinox is double the price of this. Most used vehicles are more expensive then a new one.. also equinox of the last generation have so many issues.
A used equinox is a money pit. Most used equinox are abused by previous owners
Nonsense.
@@cgmiddle its the truth and most older models of equinox have a eatting up oil issue
Buy a corrolla....this fake suv will fall apart
Please start taking those antipsychotics we talked about when you were inpatient at the psychiatric facility. There's a good boy.
That's a Chinese car.
Issa velly, velly nis caw.
No it is not. Two seconds and google shows it is built in South Korea.
These cars will serve faithfully for at least 10 years. Stillborn child. We have forgotten how to make reliable and economical cars.
