Had someone at a car boot sale insist that a speaker with no paper element worked needless to say I didn’t believe him 😂

Love your channel, just discovered it!
Regarding your speakers. Alpine claim 20W RMS per speaker, or 150W music power.
(RMS means 'Root Mean Square', the most accurate way of measuring power). This equates to a continuous test tone, at full volume.
But most music isn't a maximum level test tone, it has dynamics peaks and troughs. Most music will be in practice much lower level than the peak level. That's why 'music power' is used as a measure of 'real world' power handling.
Of course, 150W sounds better than 20W RMS, so most manufacturers usually quote music power for car audio and Bluetooth speakers.
In the real hi-fi world of expensive home and professional gear, they tend to use RMS. RMS is ultimately the more correct measurement.

You got me through the boredom that is Christmas my friend by watching the whole back catalogue with your wit and wisdom .. Then i realised why your reassuring tones sounded familiar ..Guy Garvey ,yeah the bloke from Elbow ( he did a stint on 6 music a while back ), are you twins ?

That little tray where the tape holder was would be a perfect place to put a wireless charging mat for your phone 👍🏻

      Why contactless?if I had access to a spot to install a USB & a USB-C port, I’d do that.
If I was installing a modern stereo, you could pick something with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and especially an Aux In port, so I could use my old iPod while driving! I don’t otherwise use it, and it’s been tremendously useful, having sacrificed my CD changer when I had a Porsche PCCM+ installed in my 996 911.
That cassette storage bin is a great opportunity to place a phone, iPod, memory stick or hard drive & link to a new stereo.

I have a modern classic 911, a 40th Anniversary Edition 996. I like the 924, but the 2004 911, a sort of GTS of its day (a designation which didn’t yet exist), is really a brilliant car. Very analog and mechanical yet modern enough that you can use it like any other manual car with a bit of a kick, nothing bonkers. The 924 four cylinder isn’t in the same league.

Great videos and new sub, and memories of the wiring mess for me ! from one of those pioneer component things I had one during the 90s, with the separate amp and graphic and was very good, i suspect that switch was for the early version of electronic memories it had which needed a permanent live but was maybe a drain on a car not used daily

I think Gary Mavers (“Classic Obsession” on TH-cam) has a red, A reg Porsche. I cannot remember if it’s a 924 or 928. Actually it must be the 928, because his had round, pop-up headlights.

Cracking update, and cracking progress! Whilst you wait for your “trim slot for steering wheel and gator, you may wish to invest in a tin of Kiwi black polish (not sponsored!) - it’s just Leather, after all, and would actually work wonders on the seat bolsters as well, lifting the interior even more !
Keep ‘em comin’! 5.1k subscribers can’t be wrong !
(And, as a side note, don’t fear the ‘woke’ police in exhaling the ‘under-your-breath’ profanities - makes me chuckle to hear you ‘at-it’, as it’s only exactly what I do when trying to “convince” a part that they need to move - absolutely love it !

The wiring looks like somebody both knew what they were doing and not.
You should get yourself a powered testpen, that way you can put power to circuits without the key on.
