I have zipp 404 firecrest. I just bought the magene exar ultradark db508. I'll be able to compare them in a few weeks with the zipp which are double the price. Thanks for the honest review!
Three rides in cross windy conditions and all had the same result. Felt the nudge in my shoulders but the wheels did not act like sails... as I expected them to. Thanks for watching👍🏾
I disagree. My 10 year-old Enve 6-7 wheels are very twitchy in a crosswind. I've gotten used to it, but I was always nervous on fast descents on those wheels. I'm now riding Reserve wheels that are 53 in front and 62 in back. Smaller, but still pretty deep. I can go down the same hills in similar winds on those with total confidence and never get blown around the way I did on the older wheels. I think the designers have figured it out and newer wheels can be very stable even at 50+mm in a crosswind. Sure, you're going to feel it more than on a shallow rim, but I take Luis at his word that this is a well-behaved wheel in a crosswind.
Had these since January on my specialissima and have been extremely pleased with them. Initially I was wondering if I undersold my bike by putting cheap Chinese wheels on them but I couldn’t have been any more wrong. They are excellent. Only thing I don’t love is the decals which makes it look a bit tacky but otherwise they are spot on.
Thanks for the nice review Luis. I really enjoy your content. Say again if I missed it what TPU tubes are you choosing to buy especially for deep section wheels without putting an extender like I have a pair of zip 404 rim brake wheels thank you cause I’d like to buy some based on your experience with them.
@@thegoodwheelride now tubes from Amazon are double the price than buying on aliexpress fyi. I buy about 4 at a time and they come to Florida in about a week and a half. I also really like cyclami tpu tubes from aliexpress.
60PSI is a pretty low tire pressure. Any concerns about hitting a pothole and cracking the hook on the wheel's edge? Do they accelerate as well as a lightweight rim brake rim? Good comparison with the Boras!
Great question. With the 30mm tires, that seems about right for my 155lbs. In the instances I used it, they accelerated as well as the Elite wheels I recently tested. 👍🏾
Great review, Luis! I am interested in getting a pair of the Magene Exar DB 508s. Would I need to order a driver body for Sram or would the XDR driver body that comes with the rear wheel work with a Sram Rival 12-speed cassette? Also, could these wheels accommodate 31 - 35 C tires? Thanks for your help.
I'd never ride those since the spoke seats on the hub are open. One broken spoke and you're done. Also surprised they didn't give you any spare spokes since they're fancy carbon and all that.
Hey Luis! Muy buen review. Estoy considerando seriamente comprar este set y me gustaria preguntar si tu opinion sigue siendo la misma. Los recomiendas,?? Alguna otra observacion?
One of my absolute favorite set of wheels I've ever tested. Disc brake version of course haha
Bro, if they made a rim brake wheelset, it would be sick.👍🏾
Been doing a lot of research on a new wheelset. You sold me on these.
That is good to hear. They are great 👍🏾
WOW what a great review nothing left out or missed that's truly a great wheel set at a very competitive price Thank you Luis keep safe.
Thanks David! I appreciate your comment👍🏾
Love the review and beautiful lightweight wheelset 🤌
Hi Michael. I am super impressed with them.👍🏾
Nice review Luis. Very in-depth and honest impression. ❤❤
I am glad you liked it! Thanks for watching 👍🏾
Love the sound of that hub 😍
It's a nice sounding hub, especially once built up👍🏾
Another great detailed review, loving the new content!
Thanks Chris👍🏾
@@thegoodwheelhi there, love your content. Would you say these wheels would be good for racing? How is the top end speed?

Hello @feyvre
Could you please share some thoughts about the exar wheelset you got ? Thanks !
50+mm wheels in a decent crosswind you will feel it pushing the bike around period. The wheels you "Tested" must be magical.

Maybe his wheels just defy the laws of physics. Ever think about that, smart guy? 😅

Great review, the wheels seem great for the road 🚴♂️ 👍
Thanks Lillian! Yes, they are 👍🏾
Great Review buddy🤘

What TPU tubes you using??
Great question. I am using the RideNow from Amazon with a 67mm valve. So far they have worked great.

Awesome review, Luis. I really wanna know how are they with tubeless. Guess I need to buy a pair. 😊
I will run them tubeless in the next month or so. 👍🏾
Great vid Luis, (new subscriber), any suggestions on a great rim brake version? Thanks man 👊🏼.
So.. Hablas español tambien.. hermano.. hahahah
Way to go my friend.
I bet you took the Madone on that fast selected group ride.
Si, soy de Panamá👍🏾
Actually, that was on my Colnago

After 3000km problem came out does any got problem with the 160 mm disk brake at this wheel set
I got a chance to demo the non Ultra ones. My god they are gooooood!
But since the price difference is small, I think I’d settle for the Ultras
Thanks for sharing your experience. They are amazing!
No sabia que habla español! Nice wheel review!

Nice wheels shame they don’t do rim brake.. but love my Campagnolo bora ultras 😊❤ is the Trek a new addition to your garage ? Pete 🚴🏻👍
My feelings exactly Pete!
The Trek belongs to a friend... I've just been shaking it down after it was involved in a crash. 👍🏾
Which Colnago rim brake bike is that?
V3rs

Hola Luis. Si, la misma opinion. Son muy buenas las ruedas y sigo siendo asombrado de la calidad.
@@thegoodwheel perfecto! Ya ordenados y proximamente los estaré probando por las carreteras de Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. Gracias!
What wheel diameter are you using?
700c. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
@@thegoodwheel LOL, I meant to say width of tire. Sorry that was a dumb initial question ha ha ha ha
Niiiice!!!!
Gracias!
As much as i want these wheels, i cant justify buying them as a daily riding wheelset
Understood. I'll keep flogging them and we'll see how they hold up👍🏾
disc brake only lol
Damn, I wish this would've come out a week ago. I just ordered a set of Princeton Carbonworks Peak 4550 Evolution a few days ago.🥲
