Great review Ethan and super action on the panfish. It's a good looking rod and 2 piece are my jam for traveling. Love the in depth analysis of the equipment in a real environment. You're a Jedi brother. Hats off to John Dalton he's a solid keeper dude. Keep these coming
Tremendous rod...I've got mine paired with a Daiwa Luvias 1003 reel. I catch 2lb redear on this outfit!!! It's an absolute blast tying into trophy fish like that with this setup. Thanks for the review!!
Thats definitely an interesting rod. I didn't even know the rods went "super" ultralight. I like that hook keeper for the 13 Fishing Omen rod that you sent, I'll have to pick some up when they are back in stock. Also ITS PROCURE TIME BABY! I love dabbing a little bit when the temps start to drop.
SUPER ULTRALIGHT!!! OMG I want one! I have used everything from Ultralight 1/64oz lures to a Shark Rod with 6oz pyramid weight and a 10/0 hook that would be amazing to get that rod in my inventory.
Cool video Ethan! When you were wondering about the belly color on bluegills, the males tend to have more of the bright orange belly and the females have more of a yellow/neutral color belly
@@FishAnything oh absolutely. I think it might have to do with what kind of structure or where they spend a lot of their time in the lake. I’ve caught some in shallow weedlines that were all colored up and on the flip side, I’ve caught fish suspended over deeper water that were super pale. Water color can also affect their colors
Hi - Great video here. I am looking for my first JDM ultra light (actually first UL all together) and am between two rods which you have reviewed. Either this Major Craft Fine tail rod or the Yamaga Blanks Blue Current III. I am fine with an extra UL as I will be fishing for smaller perch, blue gill, perhaps crappie and was wondering if you noticed any difference between the two. Thanks
The Yamaga is a better rod in my opinion. It is more fast than the Majorcraft so it performs better with jig applications (which is 90% of what ultralight fishing is). It is also light as a feather!
@@FishAnything Thanks for the note here and really glad you said that as I ended up ordering the Yamaga from Japan over the weekend! I ordered the shortest model (5ft 3) which may have been a mistake but I do intend to use it for more close range fishing out of a kayak so hopefully I made the right call!
I think those rods are pretty popular with the bfs crowd. Some of those two piece rods are available with 2 tips of different powers, but idk if that's the case for these.
Even though that is super light setup there are even more lighter setups from aliexpress, n what a nice fall fishing day I feel like going fishing. 14:25 that might be a spotted bass if the tip of the tongue has kinda toothy patch.
Tons of really light options available from the international rod market. And it was a largemouth, we don't have any spots in these waters. I wish we did - I love spotted bass.
I have a few depending on price point... For $50 the 13 Fishing Defy Silver. For $100 the Temple Fork Trout & Panfish. For $170 the Dobyns Sierra Trout & Panfish.
Seems like a good rod. I’m a huge fan of a phenix mirage. If you get a chance you should give that rod a try. It’s 1-5lb and 1/32 oz to 1/8oz. Moderate action. It’s alot of fun Might have to try this major craft also
They are fun rods. Wait til you try xul and the xxul type of rods. That was my first jdm rods. It is a fast rod. All major craft are a fast rods. Pair that up with varivas poly ester line ( plastic line) and you will see how sensitve the rod gets. Nice vids
Yea I'd imagine it's only available in Japanese markets for import...if already imported to a US dealer you'll def pay a premium ..def cool to see a more high end JDM SUL. Would love to know your thoughts on if it's worth the price / importation
I need a rod for slow jigging in 15-20 feet of water for crappie. Ideally super sensitive. Do you think a light action for throwing 1/16 oz jigs would work?
Tbh I actually prefer the Kuying, which is a much cheaper rod. Mostly because I feel it is more versatile and maintains a bit more fast action on most jigs. Overall, this rod is better for the MICRO stuff but the Kuying is a bit more versatile.
I have been using the 1/80 oz jigs a lot and the only problem I have with this particular size is that when people ask me what size jig I'm using they seem to assume I'm fishing with a 1/8 oz and I'm mistaken when I answer them. So I just lie and say 1/64th to avoid that situation.
I purchased this Major Craft SUL recently. It was a toss up between this or the Dobyns Sierra. I purchased through JDM Asian Portal. Received it in 48 hours! BUT was shocked to see that the rod is made in China…??? Assumed since getting through JDM it would have been made there. Also purchased a Daiwa Iprimi through JDM and THAT one was made in Vietnam. Any thoughts?
Most companies need to produce where the cost of goods work for their business model. These days, it is pretty common for rods to be made in one of those two countries.
Great video maybe you can help me my ultralight rod says 1/32 oz and up 1/4 oz I just can't get any real distant with it it's a 6 ' rod with a 2000 size reel
Great vid as usual Ethan. I just bought a 11' Daiwa Presso. Should I be looking at 1000 series reel still? There is definitely no way to balance this setup haha.
On eBay it’s said fast action is it a 2 piece rod have you try the Daiwa pressing pack 4-piece rod yet it fast fast yep I like a ultra light fast it depends on the name brand rod
The only reason for using ultralight or Super ultralight compact fishing equipment. Is to get into small tight areas or backpacking trip. Then dominate the fish.
Beautiful day! Those clouds on the water are like a painting. Thank you (and its owner) for sharing this rod with us!
Heck ya! Thanks for watching 👊🏽
Thanks ethan as always, great content, you are always blasting fish even as it gets colder! Tight lines!
Thank you Marcus! I have a lot of fun with these videos, glad you like them :)

Thanks Brian! It was such a blast. Truly appreciate John for gifting me this rod :)

Wow, 2lb Redear have to be an absolute blast! You must either be down south (maybe KY?) or out west in Arizona.
@@FishAnything On Lake Barkley in Kentucky. Really nice redear here if you can find them.
I bet that would slay on a tiny creek or small stream. Great review. Be well Ethan and tight lines.
Yeah this would be a super fun creek rod! Tight lines, Matt :)

Yessir! Super Ultralight = Super Fun
Great video I love to see you compare all the rods that you featured
I plan to do some ultralight rod recap videos!
just orderd more mule jigs and soft plastics cant wait to use em by far the best ultralight jighead
Thank you so much, Colbe!!
Great review, and what an awesome unique rod! Would love to have something like that in my arsenal to pair with some 1/80-1/64oz jigs 😭🔥🔥
Definitely a great stick for micro jigs :) Thanks for watching!
SUPER ULTRALIGHT!!! OMG I want one! I have used everything from Ultralight 1/64oz lures to a Shark Rod with 6oz pyramid weight and a 10/0 hook that would be amazing to get that rod in my inventory.
They are fun rods to use, that is for sure!
Cool video Ethan! When you were wondering about the belly color on bluegills, the males tend to have more of the bright orange belly and the females have more of a yellow/neutral color belly
Yeah good callout. Just sometimes odd how two males can vary so much in the extremity of the coloration.

I have the one of the casting models and they're a blast to use. Can't wait to test it on some trout. Kinda wish the US had more area trout style rods
Going to be a stellar trout rod!
@@FishAnything caught my first trout on it this last sunday. Happy to report that it makes trout. Even the small ones fun
Def getting more detailed with your reviews...love it!
Thanks! The more I do, the more I think to include haha

Good point. Majorcraft is definitely a reputable BFS rod brand.

What is always your go to ultra light. Just getting into looking for a ultra light set up and can’t figure out what’s for me

I am not huge on moderate action rods but I do keep hearing about Phenix. Will probably scoop one up!

Definitely! Thank you Captain Rylen :) I hope to try more stuff like this in the future.
May I know what is the reel gear ratio you use?
I don't really stress gear ratio. Most modern reels have fast enough ratio that they all feel pretty similar.
Yea I'd imagine it's only available in Japanese markets for import...if already imported to a US dealer you'll def pay a premium ..def cool to see a more high end JDM SUL. Would love to know your thoughts on if it's worth the price / importation
It is a cool rod, but I would still go with a rod easily available in the domestic market.
What gloves are you using?
Turtle Gloves!
I need a rod for slow jigging in 15-20 feet of water for crappie. Ideally super sensitive. Do you think a light action for throwing 1/16 oz jigs would work?
Yes I definitely think so!
Between this rod and the kuying 6’4 1-4g which one do you like more? Is one more fun to throw than the other?
Tbh I actually prefer the Kuying, which is a much cheaper rod. Mostly because I feel it is more versatile and maintains a bit more fast action on most jigs. Overall, this rod is better for the MICRO stuff but the Kuying is a bit more versatile.
Are you still using that jdm shallow spool reel?
Yeah, that thing is great!
What gloves are those?
Turtle Gloves! A small Michigan company :)
Haha that works! I never thought about that. Most important thing to me is that you are making them work :)
Hey. Topic idea. Can you go over what scents are safe to use on your baits? I have been reluctant to expose the plastics to oils.
Good callout. The two scents I have used with zero issues. Megastrike & Pro Cure. Would recommend either, but I think I like Pro Cure more.
@@FishAnything Pro Cure is what I have. I'll definitely break it out.
@@FishAnything definitely agree pro cure is all I use! It’s great stuff

Try lower diameter line. If you use a high end line with low diameter, it adds a ton of distance.
I would be interested to see the Daiwa 62XUL, 60XUL-4, 60XUL, or 56XXUL-S
Would definitely like to try one of those. Might have to order one.
💥🎣
Tight lines Bruno :)
Great vid as usual Ethan. I just bought a 11' Daiwa Presso. Should I be looking at 1000 series reel still? There is definitely no way to balance this setup haha.
Oh wow! I have never held the 11' model! I am going to go out on a limb and say you will want a larger reel to balance properly haha
On eBay it’s said fast action is it a 2 piece rod have you try the Daiwa pressing pack 4-piece rod yet it fast fast yep I like a ultra light fast it depends on the name brand rod
I have a video on the Daiwa Presso 4pc Travel Ultralight. I have since given it to my brother in law, but that rod is awesome!
👍
Give The Fish A Chance . .... WHAT ! ( lol ) No way got to dominate the fish.
You should try out old18 rods 😬 they have ultra light spinning rods and bfs rods … great rods but kinda pricey 😬🤙🏾
I have heard good things. Might have to scoop one up one of these days!
You should do a review of the Jenko Double Down BFS rod
Maybe one of these days!
first
Thanks man!
The only reason for using ultralight or Super ultralight compact fishing equipment. Is to get into small tight areas or backpacking trip. Then dominate the fish.
Two piece rods are an abomination.
Made in China….LOL
About 95% of fishing rods are these days!
The device you commented this from was made in China lmao
