@@Jonathan1969Stingray sorry I have to disagree. And your comments only show your inexperience off road.
You will do more damage in 4H due to the stress you cause on the drivetrain. In 4L you would have just dug a hole the tires would just spin. The weak spot in this situation would have been the dirt you were on. Loose dirt on a dry lake very hard to damage drivetrain on.

    Higher hitch wins
    Reaction time matters.

Well one thing everyone needs to take into consideration is the new transmission needed for the jeep in 6 years.

Weigh that against tacomas ball joints, head gaskets, high oil consumprtuon and transmissions that don't shift properly after 100k miles

That Tacoma box will fly off the frame if he keep doing it for another seconds, it must be the open c channel frame that Toyota put it in there it flex so it has better wheel articulation. But it worrying to see this happening under certain conditions.

Toyota’s are known for 3 things
    1- Most reliable
    2- Stylish
    3- good off-road
The fact that they regularly go 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 thousand miles with no major issues. Is the sole reason they sell so well.

Your best advantage in a dirt tug of war is tires and gearing. I know this from hooking my 2tr to a Cummins lol. Funny how that jeep sank one tire during a one legger! BTW 4 low was problably the key to top off the episode. They're meant to handle abuse at least the tacoma, I cant speak for the jeep.
