I've seen Arch Enemy live 3 times, one of those with backstage access. Watched half the show from there, This guy Blew me away and he really plays like that live, for about 1:00 - 1:30 hours straight
The cool thing about Arch Enemy is that they're all much more technically advanced than what they're showcasing in the current band, but it works anyway because they're very focused on the feel of the songs
Sounds awesome! Q: Is the kick already triggered on this? Sounds pretty natural to me. Just like the whole kit. Only some compression, EQs, salt & pepper added and that is it! :)
To me, this is as generic as metal beats get. I get that its simple but he is capable of doing so much more, even with a riff as easy as this is. I think the band in general is headed in the wrong direction. Keep it simple, keep it accessible to a wider audience. I'm a big fan of Daniel and this is just a sad to me.
Of Peter Criss I have no opinion- I don't listen to kiss, from what I have heard its pretty generic beat making. I dressed up as Peter Criss for one of our shows once. (I'm a drummer in a metal band) - I thought it'd be funny. When I compare this Arch Enemy song to other Arch Enemy songs where Erlandsson has shined - like Diva Satanica, Lament of a Mortal Soul or Despicable Heroes...among many others. This is just pointless, mindless, repetitive dribble.
Why change a successful formula? If it aint broke don't fix it. ACDC's stuff sounds mostly the same and theyre still awesome. Accept's last two albums sounded the same too.
Mathijs Tieken With all the crazy phyiscal accomplishment that man is capable of and have over come, you honestly believe keeping a steady pace with 16ths is impossible?
***** Nicely put, that is what you call constructive criticism. I myself am no stranger to quantizing my own drum tracks but not how the 'industry' does it. I think every drummer should take a look at the grid to notice their own imperfections. After a couple years of recording I can honestly say this is possible with practice, those who think not are simply not going to attain that level of control or precision.
***** I'm sorry, but those videos are old, i'm 24 years of age, and currently working part-time as a mix engineer. To see my work, check out the charm the fury on spotify, album was recorded, engineered and produced by me. I hope this gives me the right to speak in your eyes ;) To go into the grid feel: the 16th pattern on this song has definitely been edited, to a point were I would consider this to be pretty much grid feel. To be clear, that has nothing to do with velocity and dynamics, this strictly concerns timing.
***** I'm sorry, but you were claiming that I 'have no experience in the real world' and therefore, my comments were to be ignored. I'm not saying I know everything, hardly, I'm just starting out in the audio world. On top of that, you're right, there are subtle shifts in timing, but the kick drum patterns sound edited to me. True, I may be wrong, but you don't have to be an asshole about it and attack me personally. What have you done to be the authority in this area? Again, personally, I don't mind what you've done, but you're doing the exact same thing to me.

Drums are sounding good, I like the sound.
Very very cool sickdrummer. Please keep posting those, they are amazing!
The "Isolating the Throne" column is one of the best things you guys came up with. Props!
It's amazing. Congratulations Mr. Erlandsson
thanks for that, now we can finally clearly hear all the little fills and fancy stuff hes doing :)
would love some footage of him :D
Monster, the Best actual drummer in the world for me
Please do more of these!! I've been tring to find iso drum tracks but its way too hard to find...
Thanks guys! Hope you get better!
I expect footage of Daniel when they come to the states.
Fuck. I thought was a playthrough. :(
We will see what we can do...
sickdrummermagazine
That would be sweet!
sickdrummermagazine Fuck, any playthrough from Daniel would be amazing.
sickdrummermagazine
You rules!
Space Chief man, i thought I would see Dan playing, it would be sweet.
Goddamn this Reference Series kit sounds amazing mic'd up.
Sounds awesome!

This is raw, not a triggered sound.
sickdrummermagazine Well, they should almost leave it that way. :)
sickdrummermagazine Well, they should almost leave it that way. :)
I hope not, considering there is a few slip ups on the kick in the beginning of the song ;-)
This song sounds like every other Arch Enemy song. :))
I think the same. This song reminds me of 'Yesterday is dead and gone'.
Same here !
Sure, sounds totally like Dark Insanity and Never Forgive Never Forget
I love Daniels playing! Very talented drummer with tasty playing. Not a fan of Arch Enemy after Johan Liiva left though.
I feel really bad for Daniel, he's such a great drummer and they have him doing this repetitive dribble over and over.
well everything doesnt need too have complex drums with different approch.

Yousif Del Valle It's not just the band deciding where they go. Producer and record label have quite much to say what they do.
Yeah, it is very obvious with this new stuff.

BPM please? :)

seriously a waste Mr Erlandsson to what you did with Eucharist
See Djent kids, real drums! None of this Superior Drummer. Solid playing. Any clue if this is quantized?
Yes, no drummer on this green earth can keep a kick drum pattern going like this. This is what the industry calls 'grid feel' ;)

Great playing, but it sounds like ez-drummer.
Being wasted in this band tbh
The drumming is meh, but I like the concept.
Boring. sorry.
Бросай кирять.
