Hey Daniel, I don't know how's in charge of creating setlists for concerts, but this track is AMAZING, and it shows clearly how talented you're, just like 'Time is Black'. It should be a 'must' live. Drums at full speed !!

Daniel is my favorite drummer. I have his drum stick from 2007 or something when they did the Doomsday Tour. Also is he using a metronome?

I cant help feel hes not getting a creative outlet in Arch anymore. Very linear, in old Arch there is always drumcandy

Jamster I'm serious! This is a awesome heavy grindcore band, I seen them 4 times live and it was brutal heavy melodic death metal music, blow your ear drums, and all 5 band members are top notch and take their metal shows very serious by giving 100%!. They are great n opinions do not matter!they have a huge fan base of loyal fans too!

thats Daniels playing progression in Arch Enemy to be clear. My favourite clip representing Daniels style and what I love about his playing is the clip "Daniel Erlandsson - Metal" .. love his work in Armageddon also

I'm sorry, that i have to open up this discussion again, but I would really like to comment on your original .. comment. (I hate word repitition)
I think you're right with the creative outlet thing. But I think, this is not the only thing to focus on. As a drummer you have a very supporting position. You have to hold the groove by any means necessary and you also have the power to lead the band into another section, just by the fills you play. You don't have to play to the band, the band has to play to you. It is your responsebility to take the band to where they want to go.
To create good music, I think it is necessary for every musician in the band to cut down on the personal creativity aspect, in order to take the song to its goal.
And every now and then, it is your time to shine. Even in this particular Video. The fill in 3:13 was awesome. But for what reason would this song need another groove pattern? Just to be more complicated, so that the drummer has more to do? .. thats really not how music should work.
By the way, that is what i admire Daniel for. He has the feeling of what the song needs in the particular situation. And he does that with perfection. He even works in a lot of details, but these are, what they are supposed to be: Details to the beat, not the other way round. And that is, what good musitianship means to me.
But hey, I'm a bass player. Nobody cares for my opinion, playing, groove or feeling anyways.
