    Like you guys, I love the idea of it but the price tag hurt my heart. I love the Saturday mix that the algorithm gave me. Planning to use it for Ironman Chatt in a few weeks. Keep up the great work!

      FYI We end up being less than $4 an hour for most formulas. That's less $$$ than drinking/eating.

    I bought maltodextrin, fructose, and sodium citrate. I use equal weight and then add the sodium as I need. For flavor, you can do whatever you want.
    I splurge for Mortal Hydration sometimes. A lot of the time I just use food grade essential oil. So much cheaper and if you premix a bunch it is just the same as buying a bag of whatever.

      Sounds like it's working well for you! Great to hear you've got a simple and efficient solution.

    Hey Alex, just want to thank you for the info you've posted on the various forums online. I was training for my first 140.6 (Wisconsin) - my training peaked on a simulation day 4 weeks ago. Until then my plan of gatorade endurance plus a bit of jelly sandwiches and maurten gels had worked well on the smaller bricks.. but gave me bad gut distress on the big sim day and I couldn't figure out if it was the gatorade or the maurten that caused it. I had kept your speed nectar as a backup easy digesting option and made 1:0.8 drink mixes of sugar, malto, sodium citrate at 100gm per hour for the bike and 75gm/ hr for the run in a 9% solution. It worked flawlessly! Thanks so much for all the info posted online .. I'm never buying another drink mix or gel.

    • @Saturday_ProFuel
      @Saturday_ProFuel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm so pleased you've found the information useful. It's not easy to identify exactly what the cause of the gut issues may have been from this information, but the first places to look are at your rate of hydration (if you use speed nectar this should be optimal, but using gels and sandwiches might result in not drinking enough), then it may be that holding race intensity for longer durations may just need more gut training to get used to taking in nutrition at that intensity. Good luck for the post-race recovery!

    Spectating IM Wisconsin a few years back I saw like a $15k bike in transition with ziplock bags full of corndogs and chicken strips taped to it. Decided to throw their number in the tracker. Made it with 15 minutes to spare.

    My mix of gatorade-sugar and sodium citrate keeps getting more concentrated and somehow keeps working basically all the time, on the bike, even at max effort I can do 110g of carbs in 500ml and like 1000mg of sodium and I keep performing and feeling better.

    • @Saturday_ProFuel
      @Saturday_ProFuel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the feedback Kevin. That's really interesting and getting quite concentrated if you're doing that much sugar and salt in just 500ml. Under-hydration is often an issue resulting in gut issues when consuming higher rates of carbs and sodium. So as long as it's working for you, that's awesome, but if anything arises then it may be time to increase the fluid.

    Very good videos, thank you very much. I have a question about how to ingest the 90-100 gr per hour of sugar. Should I split them a part in the 8% drink that I drink every 15 minutes and the rest more concentrated in a soft flask that I use every 30 minutes, or put all the sugar in the canisters even if they remain at 18-20% sugar and drink every 15 minutes (I tried it once and had no discomfort). I have been going through before and after my workouts and have calculated that I sweat between 500-800 cc per hour so I try to drink that same amount of fluid. Again, thank you very much

    • @Saturday_ProFuel
      @Saturday_ProFuel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Alvaro, I'm glad you liked the video. In general, we would recommend a concentration of 12-15% sugar in drinks and above that may be too concentrated and cause gut issues at higher intensity or over a longer duration session. So you may need to use more water even if your sweat rate is lower. Once you have the concentration that you can use without any issues, then how you consume it is completely up to you. We recommend consuming the sugar evenly over the hour (maybe taking some in every 15') and having some water to rinse your mouth to remove the sweet taste and to protect your dental health.

    My electrolyte (ReLyte) has 1000 mg sodium and 400 mg potassium. Sounds like too much in your opinion! I'm sure it is especially too much if I drink 2-4 servings per day! Maybe I could add sodium citrate to it and use less of it per liter to make it better? If I understand correctly, too much potassium can actually make you lose water?

    • @Saturday_ProFuel
      @Saturday_ProFuel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Too much potassium relative to sodium can eventually cause water loss, yep. Adding salt or sodium citrate can solve the issue.

    • @Dakota.Covers
      @Dakota.Covers 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Saturday_ProFuel After that, I will try to make my mix own without potassium.

    What a racket. Companies like this are proposing someone pay $48 for a bag of sugar and salt, marketed as some sort of snake oil. These businesses should be embarrassed for what they're trying to do to people 🤨
