woah, I just ended an eve session where I asked this very question in the abyss channel and started an argument.
some ppl told me caracal is fine, others said I should get gila instead. I can only afford one of them, so caracal is indeed good enough I see.
God, I hate how everyone is just like "Fly a Gila". It's boring as hell, and other ships do just as well. Start with the Caracal, move up to the Cerberus 😉
Just annoys me that not everyone wants to fly a Gila but it's treated like your only option for Abyssals

so agreed. everyone says gila. i dont want to fly gila. fly what you enjoy mate :).. zrapid light till T3 T4-6 heavy assult.. the reload of rapid light kills your dps in T3+ ive heard.. id ont know about you but i have pg issuess with this and most fits and cpu and im maxed for alpha in most skills
Great content as always. Just one thing that I wasn’t sure I heard correctly. Did you mention the need of a fleet? For cruisers, you don’t need to be in a fleet to enter the Abyss. Fly safe, Captain o7
Correct, no fleet needed for Cruisers 😂
In second room Damavics were repping your target ...that's why #2 went faster and #3 much faster. When they were yellow boxing I think they were targetting each other with their remote reps..
On one of my early runs i took my brand new caracal navy issue and lost most if not all of my hull, had to wait for my shield to recharge, and ended the run with 40 seconds left on a calm. Neadless to say this fit is about 1/2 the price and seems to work better. Will be giving it a shot soon

Hey i wanted to ask if you have any vid on running t1 abyss with destroyers, like the Navy catalyst? I built myself one for t1 and it has 232.3 dps so I was wondering if there's anything else needed to run the t1 firestorm with it
I've not done videos on that yet, except the Mamba, DPS is good, as long as you can apply it and survive.
issuess with destroyers is they get hit more then frigs.. about only destroyer people use in T3+ of destroyers is the jackdaw. because you can speed tank more in darks and not worrie about tracking guns etc.. i think most destroyers if ddone rigth can survive 1 wrecking shot. other then that most will run T1-2 frig solo as retribution/hawk/wolf are great for it mkae more then destroyer.. cruiser T3-4 makes more money tho

The ship gets bonuses for "Kinetic" missile damage. So you must use missiles that deal Kinetic damage. Only "Scourge" missiles do Kinetic damage.
@@captainbenzie I'm sorry, I checked every page of Caracal info and cannot find where it is stated. It only says "5.0 % bonus to Rapid Light Missile, Heavy Missile and Heavy Assault Missile Launcher rate of fire. 10.0 % bonus to Heavy Missile and Heavy Assault Missile max velocity." Or I'm missing something? Thank you
@@michaelpanfilov8785 don't be sorry, it's me being an idiot. The Caracal does NOT have Kinetic bonuses. That is in fact the Cerberus 😂
i just lost an almost fully fitted caracal, because i missed a few points of powergrid to fit the large battery and tried going through a calm electric abyssal with a medium 2. i quickly realized, i am not going to last long as the tank ate through my cap and then i realized i cant flee 😢 ah well...
however id like to know what i missed...i tried fitting all modules going with the rockets last and then i was about 2-3 points short on the energy...i had advanced weapon upgrades on lvl 4...do you need 5 here, or is it something else?
5 is always worth having, and eventually Advanced Weapons Upgrades too

I tried your fit, but i can't fit the large shield booster cuz not enough powergrid. My caracal is totally destroyed and it's dps isn't high enough to scratch the enemy ships. Guess I'll stick to T0 abyssals
The fit relies on that for T1. Train Powergrid Management and Weapons Upgrades. Both are vital skills.

You're looking around 5m per run, plus any BPCs you get
I'm curious if rapid light would work better with mostly frigate sized enemies or if target painter drones would make heavy missiles apply more damage and be better use than damage from 2 lights.
Quite possibly. I don't like Rapid Launchers though due to that horrific reload and low ammo 😂 try it and let me know!

Train Powergrid Management and Weapons Skills 😊
All goes well with the Caracal with a 10mn afterburner until you get into a Calm with 3 loot caches. If you are greedy you will spend allot of time going from the furthest loot cache back to the gate and if the timer runs out like it did for me you are dead. Therefore I would strongly suggest running a 50mn afterburner.
Never go for the Extras. They're so pointless. You'll make more by ignoring them and using that time to run more abyssals.

You could start there first, grab the other loot and then head back to the main cache
Around a year ago I took a break and just recently came back. Not sure if CCP have made a change to loot, but previously it was more beneficial to run the low abyssals with a frigate and move into something like a Gila around the tier 3/4. Is that still the case or has loot changed?
Loot hasn't changed. But if a frigate takes 15 mins and you can do it in 5 in a cruiser, that's the same loot for lower Filament cost.
Either way, I'm not here to teach min maxing, but how to get started or to use ships that folks want to fly. As an example, I really dislike the Gila. It's so boring to fly and other ships can do the same job cheaper.
@@captainbenzie I'm all for diversity in ships. Gets boring if everybody runs the same ship to complete things. I'll probably start experimenting with new fits myself after I get more comfortable with them.
Could it be done with a passive tank caracal?
Maybe? I've not tried tbh. Check AbyssTracker for fits!

Make sure to have "Powergrid Management" upgraded and "Weapons Upgrades"/"Advanced Weapons Upgrades" as these reduce PG usage.

Yes, you'll need Powergrid Management and Weapons Upgrades. You could also make some of the other modules the lower PG version

Skills. Check your Missile Projection and Missile Bombardment specifically. You don't need the exact stats I have. I'm heavily over skilled for the needs of this ship.

Hello dear Captian Benzie, i tried today to fitt the same Caracal as you have tto beginn with T1 Abyss, some of my skills are high enough to already fitt some t2 equipment but the items are still the same. The enly thing i dont understand is that you have with that Assault heavy missiles 30km of range, bit i have only 16km of range. I dont know how to increase that to your 30km.

You'd have to check the cargo at the beginning and end, I don't recall offhand. The aim of the video was to show how to get started with an easy ship you'll have early. Not minmaxing, just having fun learning Abyssals 😊
Would rapid light missile II's be an ok substitute till I have skill for heavy assault missiles? With rapid light 2's i have 330 dps.
edit: I went and tested it and it works well just a bit awkward with the low ammo count
Yeah it'll work, I'm just following the CCP fit (and I detest rapid reload)
I have 200 DPS with this fit only. I guess, there is a skills difference. It is not enough. I lost a couple Caracals already.
200 DPS is more than sufficient. The minimum for a T1 is 140. This sounds like a piloting issue - what killed you?
I don't remember. I used heavy missiles instead of heavy assault.

Have i just been unlucky i ran 2 t3 gamma today and only made 10mill looting only the bio cache. Just felt realy bad.

I built this, flew into a calm electrical and then couldn't turn on any missile launchers due to needing 95% cap and died

I'm trying to run this build and I'm pretty sure I have the exact fit, but my Power Grid is messing me up. I need 2.6 more PG to put my last missile launcher online. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it must be a skill somewhere. I only have 21 less total Power than Benzie, but he has a surplus of over 70. I'm certain I'm using the same brands for all the equipment. I have level 5 Power Grid Management, so I don't know what other skill I could use to help with my Power output or requirements.
Nevermind, I'm retarded. Needed Advanced Weapons Whatever. Reduces power needs by 2% for turrets n launchers. That also explains why I needed lvl 5 Power Grid Management for the Corax build Loru was using.
