- In today’s video I would try the St. Bruno Ready Rubbed & the Flake Cut and discover if I can notice any difference between the two type of cuts.

St. Bruno Ready Rubbed is in most regards, similar to the Flake version though this comes pre rubbed for convenience. This tobacco is often the first encounter many British pipe smokers have with a pipe tobacco because if its reputation, quality and availability. It conjures for most, a memory of times past, maybe of a relative or friend who used to smoke it but more than likely of the first puff they themselves took on a pipe.
Leaf type & flavour profile description for both blends
The tobacco is a Kentucky/Virginia blend which gives a woody quality to the smoke but unlike many strong Kentucky blends, the nicotine content is at a moderate level. The tobacco has been cased, pressed and cut into flakes, which have then been rubbed. The case notes are sweet, slightly citrus with some people claiming to taste floral notes too. The floral part is most likely from the Kentucky tobacco itself, where the wood used to cure the leaf has mildly floral qualities. It is by no means the dominant flavour. St. Bruno is an all day, every day kind of smoke that some choose to smoke exclusively, it's clean burning, cool and leaves your pipe mess

Thanks Nathan for another enjoyable watch. The St. Bruno flake is one of my old time favourite, it is one of those blends that is enjoyable to smoke any time of the year. I smoked the ready rubbed as well but i find the flake more rich & floral then the ready rubbed. Although a friend of mine prefers the ready rubbed for the same reasons i prefer the flake😂 funny how we all taste tobacco somewhat differently. I find S B to be the the one from the otc blends that does look like a broken up flake i find big bits in my last pouch pretty cool . SB needs a while to dry i tend to leave some out in the air on a tray. Rest goes into my pipe and baccy pouch just to air out

Great review as always nathan. I love st b, my favourite uk otc blend. I find the flake more tobacco flavour and the rubbed much more aromatic and fruitier. I guess variations occur in batches! Atb craig

I’ll always pick ready rubbed over flake when it comes to scented/topped tobacco, as I want to taste the leaf as much as possible. Bonus that the ready rubbed is far less expensive, although not as inexpensive as I’d like.

Enjoyed the review Nathan. Second tobacco I’ve smoked since starting my pipe journey ready rubbed version very nice. Liking Virginia and Kentucky as I do in my vape it was an obvious choice. Hope to try the flake in due course. Take care.

Hi Nathan. I used to smoke St Bruno flake whilst stationed in England in the 1970’s. I was then posted to Germany. I purchased the same in Germany and it was darker and stronger flavour. Even the brown on the tin was a darker brown. I guess it was changed to suit local preference.

Haven't tried it yet. Based on my tiny experience I'd prefer flake as it holds the jist of it together better before it gets prepped for a smoke. I recently got a few decades old (Ogden's) opened tin that's so dry I can't smoke it. I hope I can slowly dehydrate it and compare it with today's flake
@BrokieStax. You do have a valid point in regards to flake. About your Ogden tobacco Wow that is an old timer I have seen on ebay some vintage ogden st. Bruno flake tins for sale. I hope you are successful in hydrating the tobacco. Enjoy

Hi Nathaniel. Yes both are widely available in the UK a simple google search would guide you. As for the election result well, I refrain to talk politics on the channel😀 but since you asked😊It is too soon to know. I personally think Keir Starmer is well balanced and reminds me of Tony Blair that in my opinion was the best Labour leader ever, so I am hopeful.
@@TheVapingPiper I am inclined to agree with you as regards to Starmer and Blair. We shall see. I am just so relieved to see the Tories gone. I am a very big Europhile and Brexit was, and still is remarkably uncomfortable for me. There was simply no real call for it from the country. Only the right of the Cons. Cons by name, and cons by nature! I should really have emailed this, but I don't really care! Yes of course I could have done an internet check with St Bruno, I was just interested if off the top of your head you knew whether it had been withdrawn recently like some others.
