A ZX Spectrum can be recommended to set up as a hobby computer, it has a huge selection of software from every year back to 1982. Today there is a lot of competitions for making the best games, demos, music and loading screens, so the quality for new releases is very high. Many new games is also sold as original cassette releases again :-)
Some really great memories here, thanks for making this. I used to spend hours on Carrier Command, Ikari Warriors, Gauntlet, Mercenary: Escape From Targ, Elite, Cholo and Catch 23.
Some of the later Russian made games are unbelievable! They pushed the hardware to it's absolute limit - would never have imagined they could run Command & Conquer type games on the speccy, but they've done it!
Awesome work. When I fire up the Speccy emulator (My original fell to pieces long ago), I am inspired every time. Still! Can't say that for nearly most of modern games I tried the last 15 years of so.
EnZxclopedia ! Thanks. You are the most meditative channel i started to subscribe recently. It chills me out, it brings that pure, innocent and calming nostalgia i enjoy more and more i grew older. See you around ;)
Nostalgia city! Early childhood memories and so many games on here I remember playing but either can't/didn't know the names of. I never cared for the technical/programming aspects and don't know the first thing about any of it. All I know is it was a black console with rubber keys, not the one with the tape player attached - that was the one I wanted but my parents couldn't afford it. Had to make do with whatever games I could get my hands on, now I can play whatever game/console I want but it's just not the same
Watched to see if a forgotten classic I played was shown that I can't remember showed up, but alas no. It had a simultaneous 2 player option and you played as tanks in a maze. I am sure I still have the original tape somewhere, I must dig it out!
Viaje Al Centro De La Tierra was released in 1989 but an extended version with two extra levels was released in 2008. Supaplex was released in two different versions - one in 1999 and another one in 2009.
We had none of these games on your list, here were the ones we did have on our ZX spectrum 48K in the mid 80’s: Attic Attack, Fairshare, Lunar Jet Man, Lunar Jet PAC, Maziacs, Ant Attack, Nodes of Yesod, Halls of Genon, Halls of the Things and it’s sequel, Return of the Things, Factory Breakout, SabreWulf, Scrabble ( naturally the computer always won), Frogger, We had the Knight Lore game that was on your list. We had the Amiga towards the late 80’s and had Turrican 2 on that one, didn’t know there was a spectrum version.
Splat!, Chuckie egg, Living Daylights, what about all those games that came bundled with the 48k? I realise now that the clips are just a small percentage of what came out for the Spectrum!
*Please help me remember the name of the GAME!* A game like EXOLON - but there you can play together shooting at the attackers on the left and right of the aliens. The characters themselves are in spacesuits, the action takes place on a planet. There are aliens with a trunk.
What's the game at 4:10:37? The character sprites are dead ringers for the ones that turned up later in the Chaos Engine. Some of the backgrounds look similar too.
This is Survivisection from 2012, so it is based on Chaos Engine. Survivisection plays fantastic, you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/bGjLjeax8hw/w-d-xo.html
I've been looking for a game, but can't remember its name for the life of me. It's a vertical shooter in space (Moon Cresta clone) with a maze-type mini game in between stages, where a fried egg-looking monster is hunting you and you have to get the gem in order to proceed to the next stage. Does anyone know which one it is?
A great video, with lots of classic Z(Zed)X spectrum games.im interested to know if your from America, because you spelt colourful without the u.it would be unusual, but great if you where, because I don't hear many people from America or Canada talking about the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, or any British computer for that matter.thank you.
C64/CPC/Amiga/ST ports didn't exactly get treated much better. Well sometimes C64 ports did. CPC ports might have had better colour than on spectrum but barely better performance (usually worse as you are using the same CPU to draw higher bit depth displays). The ST might have had some basic page flipping but not proprr hardware finescrolling, so you still have to draw a lot with the CPU, which is much faster than the Z80 in the older machines but you have a yet higher bit depth and higher resolution display to draw to. The Amiga is superior to all of them but a fair few times you'll get a US gold release where they made it for ST first as that has a subset of the Amiga hardware in a sense, and then quickly ported it to Amiga without much improvement (street fighter 2 for example, though there are other Amiga conversions that do use hardware scrolling, sprites, blitter etc I believe, but even then they aren't always made that well). Colour flash is unavoidable without fancy raster attribute changing techniques which don't solve the problem horizontally.
Are these really all Spectrum Games? For example at Pietro Bros I could swear that I see more than two colors per character. Is this some later, enhanced hardware that I have missed?
@@MZX-RG Thanks, found it. I need to drill into this. As I have been developing (unknown) games myself back in the 80s, I can't wait to find out how this works. Wish, we had such libraries back in the days ...
@@MZX-RG Thanks a lot. Looks like they do in software something similar like the what Antic did in the Atari 8-bit computers: switching the palette between drawing lines. Really cool!
Did I missed them? Sharp (or shark? About planes) Bomb jack Solomon’s key Elite Pool Mickie (?) Batty Spy vs spy Quazatron Zombie River raid Bubble bubble Barmen (?) Falcon patron ?
Can anyone help me to find a game I played as a child (I think the computer was ZX spectrum) in early 90's? You start in a village where you can talk to citizens, enter some houses and shops and buy weapon and other stuff there. Then you go to a castle where you need to collect some gems and I also remember fighting a spider boss. That's all I remember till now.
@@MZX-RG thank you but no, it's a different game. The difference is that in my game when you start in some sort of village you don't fight anyone, you just talk to people, enter houses and buy stuff. You start facing enemies in a castle only.

Hi, nice to hear from you :-) Have you checked out the videos with 2018 and 2019 games and demos. As you can see the Spectrum scene is very big again, and we would all love to see a bug fixed Dune game with English text, and a finished version of Star Craft would also be cool.
Fallout..!! That sounds awesome! You should consider participating in the next ZX-Dev competition, here you can win money. And afterwards I'm sure some of the Spanish or English software houses would like to produce and sell the game for you. ZX-Dev 2018: zx-dev-mia-remakes.proboards.com/

@William White awe, i was looking for a particular game. Back in the day i played a game that had minigames . Thats right, in a late 80s game there were late 70s and early 80s games. How cool is that, i mean it amazes me more with the years. It had frogger and space invaders.

AUTHOR YOU SUPER!!!
ZX SPECTRUM IS A LIVE!
ZX SPECTRUM FOREVER!
SO MANY NEW COOL NICE GAMES!
Ваш инглиш вери гуд )
What a selection! Brings back memories and the recent games look very attractive, too.
14:27 - Knight Lore, my favorite Spectrum game of all time!
Some really great memories here, thanks for making this. I used to spend hours on Carrier Command, Ikari Warriors, Gauntlet, Mercenary: Escape From Targ, Elite, Cholo and Catch 23.
Some of the later Russian made games are unbelievable! They pushed the hardware to it's absolute limit - would never have imagined they could run Command & Conquer type games on the speccy, but they've done it!
some very interesting games here! i am glad to be part of this community and thanks for including my games as well!
Colourclash? What colour clash?! Awesome
Ouch! I scream!
I'm The Incredible Hulk (Tm) now!
Wow, this is poetry 12:10
WOW... I thought I knew a lot of spectrum games but a lot of these are unknown to me! Some of them look AMAZING too!!
Spectrum 48k, remember with love. 5 courses of enginner. Talk from spain.
Wow....Dat Pietro Bros looks amazing with multicolored sprites! I'm impressed. Good, massive work putting them all together ;)
Thanks a lot, and nice to hear from you 👍
This is awesome!
Hopefully those watching know about the new Spectrum Next Kickstarter!
Probably the best Spectrum game and one of the most colorful (that Ive played): Hyper Sport by Konami.
Had to make do with whatever games I could get my hands on, now I can play whatever game/console I want but it's just not the same
Very cool video matey I enjoyed watching and reminiscing, I still play my Speccy games ;)
Watched to see if a forgotten classic I played was shown that I can't remember showed up, but alas no. It had a simultaneous 2 player option and you played as tanks in a maze. I am sure I still have the original tape somewhere, I must dig it out!
Вот это да, вот это работа!
I fired up RAGE 2 today and after 20 minutes I was bored and annyoyed. I think these games would be a much a better use of my time.
некоторые игры конечно совсем не 2008 и не 2009 в них я еще в 1995 году играл уже ))) а так подборка супер, автору респект )
Viaje Al Centro De La Tierra was released in 1989 but an extended version with two extra levels was released in 2008. Supaplex was released in two different versions - one in 1999 and another one in 2009.
@@MZX-RG понял ) скорее всего да, релиз
MEGA COMPILATION!!!
Nice video, found lots of games to try
I remember playing almost every game on here :)
The best home computer ever made!!!
I recently composite modded my speccy 48k
*best decision I’ve ever made*
I did the same with my 3 48K machines and 3 plus machines.
1:06:00 вот это конечно была бомба!
Великолепно, умница!
Best You Tube video ever.
Great collection!
Great compliation
*Please help me remember the name of the GAME!* A game like EXOLON - but there you can play together shooting at the attackers on the left and right of the aliens. The characters themselves are in spacesuits, the action takes place on a planet. There are aliens with a trunk.
Spectrum in my golden times...
i played my first ever video game on ZX spectrum in 1988
45:51 Nato assault. Back then, they knew exactly what Nato is.
Millenium work! :+)
Some of those have graphics I didn't believe the ZX could achieve.
Perfect.
Great video !
WTF, I just thought they'd stopped making games around 1990. Learn something everyday :-)
Comfort food video 👌
A great video, with lots of classic Z(Zed)X spectrum games.im interested to know if your from America, because you spelt colourful without the u.it would be unusual, but great if you where, because I don't hear many people from America or Canada talking about the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, or any British computer for that matter.thank you.
Many of the newer games are not British though.
1:00:25 The game included instruction manual and 2 grams.
Good job!
But where is UFO-1 & UFO-2?
Are these really all Spectrum Games? For example at Pietro Bros I could swear that I see more than two colors per character. Is this some later, enhanced hardware that I have missed?
You can have more colours. All you need is one of the new software engines: th-cam.com/video/OLaE78f16tk/w-d-xo.html
@@MZX-RG Thanks, found it. I need to drill into this. As I have been developing (unknown) games myself back in the 80s, I can't wait to find out how this works. Wish, we had such libraries back in the days ...
You can find the engines + instructions here: spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/30002/ZX-Spectrum/NIRVANA_ENGINE
@@MZX-RG Thanks a lot. Looks like they do in software something similar like the what Antic did in the Atari 8-bit computers: switching the palette between drawing lines. Really cool!
3:17:54 Weird, I had no idea someone made a game based on Hedgehog in the Fog. Can't seem to find any other gameplay of it.
12:46 why is peridot in this game?
Круто!
Did I missed them?

Can anyone help me to find a game I played as a child (I think the computer was ZX spectrum) in early 90's? You start in a village where you can talk to citizens, enter some houses and shops and buy weapon and other stuff there. Then you go to a castle where you need to collect some gems and I also remember fighting a spider boss. That's all I remember till now.
Maybe this one: th-cam.com/video/iLJhhGPH4GI/w-d-xo.html
@@MZX-RG thank you but no, it's a different game. The difference is that in my game when you start in some sort of village you don't fight anyone, you just talk to people, enter houses and buy stuff. You start facing enemies in a castle only.
Was is sidescrolling, flip screen, or top down view..?? There is a spider boss in Rainbow Islands, but you don't talk to anybody in that game.
@@MZX-RG I think I found it, the game's name is Zeliard. The spider was actually a crab lol. Thank you anyway.
And more important - It is a NES / PC DOS game, not a ZX Spectrum game...
What is the game at 53:31 ?
It is not the Muncher, as Muncher is an early Packman clone.

😲 five and a half hours later - 🤯
Had over 400 games from 82 to 87 after that spectrum was dead... Why is there a 1990 to 2016

Where.Is.Dizzy?????
3:13 :50 my game.... ihave shock. Im create dunr and star craft for zx
Hi, nice to hear from you :-) Have you checked out the videos with 2018 and 2019 games and demos. As you can see the Spectrum scene is very big again, and we would all love to see a bug fixed Dune game with English text, and a finished version of Star Craft would also be cool.
@@MZX-RG I wana creat Fallout on spectrum))) I am surprised that my games have gone beyond Russia, I made games for myself at the table.
Fallout..!! That sounds awesome! You should consider participating in the next ZX-Dev competition, here you can win money. And afterwards I'm sure some of the Spanish or English software houses would like to produce and sell the game for you. ZX-Dev 2018: zx-dev-mia-remakes.proboards.com/
All the old Russian games is availabe for everybody: www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0017212
hmm lol. no elite,alien8,strangeloop,kokotoni wilf, bugaboo the flea, nodes of yesod, ant attack, sabre wulf, chuckie egg, jetpac, worse things happen at sea, combat lynx, daley thompsons decathlon, hyper sports, pretty poor selection can probably mention more
colorful games
Pinball and shake pit R the shit
The emulator has a problem with a map in Gyron :)
The best games for the Spectrum are made in Russia :)
Difficult to play on a emulator for Android

@William White awe, i was looking for a particular game. Back in the day i played a game that had minigames . Thats right, in a late 80s game there were late 70s and early 80s games. How cool is that, i mean it amazes me more with the years. It had frogger and space invaders.
Wow
I just went through this video to find the name of a game that wasn't here.
A lot of the games have great design, probably because it's the easiest way to make a game on this pretty weak machine seem really appealing.
Х сом...они украли миллион... Вот таких игр не видел здесь, игр в которые можно было играть долго долго..
Judas sxz had a LOT of Games! Some kicked 2600 blocky graphics
