  • In this video, we share our experience climbing Mt Whitney. We hope fellow aspirant climbers will benefit from our experience.
Our trip started with a drive from Orange County, CA to Lone Pine, and ultimately the climb to the summit of Mt. Whitney.

We are in eachothers videos on the same hike. You helped my buddy, the one who almost crashed into the rocks. That was us lol.

Awesome video!!! Glad you made it down safely as some don’t!! Any idea if the switchbacks are passable for hiking yet??

Probably not yet for hiking yet. I’d suggest keeping up to date through the Whitney facebook page as hikers often post on there daily. Best wishes on your hike for when it’s ready!

Never seen a bear up there in all my years hiking Whitney Portal... Well done though! Not an east trek :)

Thanks for sharing! Yup, we were hoping to see one, but didn’t either. Didn’t realize it was that rare of a sight.

    Hi Rashik,
Congratulations to u n ur buddies on the successful summit of Mt.Whitney.
We are scheduled to hike it on June 29th with a day hike permit. do u think the snow will still be there at the chute at that time? We r planning to start from Whitney portal at 1:30 am.
I see that u bought in Ice Axe n Crampons. Anything else u recommend us carrying?

The earlier you reach the Trail campground the better. Since we camped at the trail campground, we were able to start at 4:30ish. So I think you should start earlier than 1:30 from the Portal. May be 12 . Depending on how fast you walk, but plan on being at the Trail camp by 4:30. The snow will be hard enough for a crampon or even micro spikes early on, if not, it’ll be too slushy to climb. I’d also carry microspikes in addition to crampons. I don’t think the snow will have melted in two weeks. But I’d keep checking until the last day for up to date conditions. Good luck!
