A319 is one capable and tough airplane. Flies to every airport on the most dangerous airport list (that's serviced by jets, sorry Lukla), including all commercial airports on the rooftop of the world (some 14k ft elevation), and very short runways (30 million flights, only one in service hull loss (Windjet CFIT) in which it stayed intact and nobody was badly hurt. Great video and crew!

31:18 - I have never seen a pilot hold a flight stick like this on an airbus, clearly it works for him. Always awesome seeing how pros do it and seeing the minute differences in techniques they use.
Reminds me of weightlifting and normal grip vs suicide grip. End result is the same but one can be more comfortable than the other in certain contexts.
Just wanted to say the same. First I noticed the "interesting" way he was playing with the thrust levers... moving his hand around it but not actually moving the levers.
And then i noticed the way he held the stick. Not sure if that aligns with procedures but I guess it can work.

Wonder about the lives of the people at the monastery, which is being used as the mark in the visual approach just before the final turn to the runway. They would actually be praying for the safe landings of each plane as they see them coming right towards them. 😅
I remember taking off from Paro and the pilots really pulled that plane up so much I thought I would pass out! Either I'm a light weight when it comes to this or just that time they gave it a little kick!

Imagine living in one of those houses on the ridge. Every day you would see jets nearly brushing the top of your roof. Would be quite exilerating but also loud with the jets overhead...

seeing paro airport again .
Really nice video! But maybe it's just me feeling a bit uneasy with the CRM in this cockpit? There is a little steep slope while some things happen, or maybe I'm a litttle too sensitive? Like the autopilot disconnect while his FO was on coms... like, keeping her behind of the situaltion kind of attitude. I don't know. It just feels a bit too much like US Bangla kind of CRM.... no offense, but some airspaces have a bit of a reputation with expat captains.

If I am right, this airport is "captain only".
That's because it is likely the company policy to restrict takeoffs and landings to the captain only.
From what I have seen in other videos, she got her 4th stripe. There’s a vid of her landing in the rain; totally calm and professional.

Yes the second half you showed the approach is very tricky and exiting but you should know how to manouvere through these mountains at such a steep turns at low altitude and within that short

What a boss
good crew, challenging approach, you gotta get your speeds and altitude on point since it's not technically a visual approach until about 400 feet AGL. With a prop you can probably salvage an approach if your high or low, but a jet you gotta be on it.

This pilot makes me want to quit playing MSFS 20 immediately.
this airport frustrates me to land at in the simulator...it's exciting but for me a little annoying...fabulous view on the way in for landing...

i think it is very difficult to land a a319 here .
Druk Air is the Royal Bhutan Airlines. Their main base is Paro airport and their fleet is mostly made up of A319s so they land them at Paro all the time.

So, thought I'd watch this as it shows a runway 15 approach and is a decent length of footage. We would get to see the 180-degree turn across the river, down the northern side of the valley wall and over the house on the opposite side before touchdown. However, the video was constantly spoiled and interrupted by Google Adds! Real pity. But I managed to get through it. Very nice. It did seem that the Captain and the Senior FO do not really get on or like each other. She was clearly intimidated by him. CRM was perhaps the minimal required. Perhaps they were just having an off day. Checklist checks and responses were again perhaps the minimal required. No ATC readbacks by the other pilots on the frequency is a bit weird too. Tower controller's english is good but no one reads back to him! Paro is one of the world's most dangerous and difficult approaches - so CRM and ATC/Pilot interaction is critical here. However, you cannot fault the views! Paro is always interesting and challenging and this is another good video to watch in order to se Paro at its most challenging. Enjoyed it.
