I was worried about the chemical, but I love your videos about how much you go into detail about the products and equipment that you use. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more videos in the future!!!
The product works GREAT. Just an FYI, I contracted Lyme disease last spring in PA either trout fishing or turkey hunting. The black legged tick nymph is only the size of a poppy seed. I never found a tick on me or a bite sight. They like dark, moist and hairy places. In other words, your most private places need checked when you come in from the field. Stay safe everyone.
The stuff is a neurotoxin. That's why you wear it on your outer layers, not against your skin. To each his/her own. Permethrin was developed by the military, which is where I learned about it 15 years ago. The risk of cancer is probably better than Lyme disease etc, but I wouldn't consider it harmless by any means.
I've been using this stuff for several years and while i might see an occasional tick on my clothes I've never found one on my body after a treerat hunt thanks for the video!!!!
I also treat my boots. I think it works better on cordura nylon better than leather. I usually treat both. US military has been using this for a very long time. They test, we benefit. Be well!
Top notch info here! Sawyer is a great brand but I get my Permethrin in concentrated form from a farm store and mix my own. A bottle of concentrate goes a l-o-n-g way. I spray my hat, camo gloves and the inside of my portable blind also.
My brother in law is a land surveyor and they are issued permethrin. The stuff they're given goes in the washing machine. So when they're washing their work clothes, put some in (not sure how much) and it's good for a few washing cycles so they dont have to use it every time they wash. We use it on our woods clothes too
@@OutdoorsAllie I misplaced my phone I didn't have a chance to watch the video from yesterday so I watch both of them when you uploaded this one. I was laughing at your dog she was funny 😂
Sawyer works really well, I also use Elimitick and Buzz Off camo sox, pants, shirt, fleece hoodie, hat, gloves ect...and it lasts the life of the garmets. while turkey hunting with a buddy, who didnt even use a spray, and had 11 ticks on him and I had zero after the hunt wearing L.L. Bean Buzz Off camo.
Cheers for this, I've been looking for "do you need prescription for permethrin?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Penameron Cerebral Preeminence - (search on google ) ? It is a good one off guide for kissing goodbye to the itching pain of your scabies minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.
My bottle leaked as I sprayed it. I'm glad I had gloves on, but I still didn't like that at all. It just dripped out from where the sprayer twists around. Not good. You didn't seem concerned at all about something like that because you had no gloves. Is it not as dangerous to get on your skin as they say?
I’m wondering how is it not getting on your skin even after it’s dry? How is it all the sudden safe when it’s dry? Spray it on your hat and even if it dries, everytime you adjust your hat your getting it on your skin.
I wear gloves with it because the sprayer is not that great. It’s probably pretty safe. I still take precautions. I only use it on my boots, and that’s where a lot of the bugs crawl up from. I believe it does work, though they still find other ways in when walking through tall grass.
In Georgia I think March is the worst month they're falling out of trees looking for mates but thanks for the tip if they bite me they're going to die LOL🤑🐝
I would like a product that could be added to a low water wash load that you could agitate for one cycle, spin, then hang out to dry. Know of anything?
@@OutdoorsAllie we've looked into this but unfortunately it is not an effective method of application and the unbonded insect repellent gets flushed out with the waste water.
JUST DO NOT GET NEAR CATS / FELINES WHILE IT IS WET ! DANGEROUS FOR THEM FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD READ . THERE'S A BUSHCRAFT TH-cam CHANNEL THAT SHOWES YOU HOW TO DILUTE THE PERMETHRIN CONCENTRATE TO USE & SAVE MONEY. CAN'T FIND MY NOTES AT THIS TIME BUT I THINK IT'S 9 OZ . PER GALLON OF WATER , NOT POSITIVE ABOUT IT. BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH & THE PUP ALWAYS ! ENJOYED !
Great point David. I purchased the concentrate at Tractor Supply and mixed my own at a 2 oz, to 1 qt. ratio and sprayed my stuff. Much more economical.
I noticed that when I stopped hunting animals I dont get ticks anymore. I dont mean anything of this comment other than that it totally fascinated me. Dont get me wrong I still shoot cane arrows from homemade wooden bows just not at animals any more lol.

Eat crushed raw garlic for two weeks, will kill lyme
I got Lyme in 2000, I laid on my couch for seven years. It still affects me. I hope you are well. God Bless you.
Thank you @Outdoors Allie for steppin it up and putting out more content for us, the viewers. ✌
You bet!
Excellent information. I work for an Engineering firm and our Surveying crew swears by this when they are out in the field.
That is awesome!

Yikes. Makes me itch thinking about it!
Allie this is off topic but could I ask who makes the blue jacket you’re wearing? Thank you for the video, very helpful information.
Kuhl!
Thank you for your quick response, you’re awesome!!!!
Great stuff, great video. Have a friend w.d ho got lyme disease, no joke.
Yes, it sucks. BAD!
Nice !! I've always figured there was some bad juju in it, so always avoided getting it on my hands. Now I won't ! Thanks!!
I thought the same for a while. Game changer!
What do you recommend for dogs?
Is this product safe on baby clothes?
That stuff is amazing.
Works wonders.

Does scent killer break it down?
Im not positive, but i highly doubt it.
I know that works and I use it a lot for my hiking gear, but never when I'm hunting. Do you know if deer can smell it?
Not sure. Good question! I'll do some research! It's a must for turkey season though.
@@OutdoorsAllie it is 100% odorless after drying and deer will not be able to smell it.

Ya they suck!
So I sprayed it while my clothes were on but not a lot only for like a minute 🤣. Is this bad? I’m scared

Needs to be a .5% solution strength. I by mine without any distillates in it.
