Over a couple of months, he noticed that the things he used during the day were being mysteriously put away at night, so he set up a night-vision camera in his shed in Builth Wells, Powys, Wales, to find out what was happening. He discovered that an industrious mouse was picking up items such as nuts and bolts, clothes pegs and cable ties and tidying them away into a box.

What an inteligent mouse. I hope is safe and appreciated. We really have no idea how concious animals are. Much to our shame.
It is safe and appreciated. I'm related to the man who filmed this and he loves this little mouse, so don't worry :)
TY so much for responding. The man must be very special for the mouse to respond like that.
Finally, we are beginning to see the amazing actions of the little creatures. Really, all animals are awesome and much more than we ever thought. Dumb ? Hardly.
@bluerayfrequency7335 the mouse isn't actually cleaning up. It has no concept of "messy" vs "clean."
@@NonServiam1312 Ya think? Mice are pack animals, they pile things up it is in their nature. The fact the mouse felt so comfortable with the man's belonging is endearing and shows connection.

I caught a mouse in a humane mouse trap, and gave her a three storey mouse condo with a secondary cage attached. I had her for years. She was the smartest, sweetest, gentlest little creature and when she died it hit me like a gut-punch. She was a minute creature that taught me one of the greatest lessons of my life - that every little sentient being is of infinite value.
Even lice?
♥️🇨🇦I love that.
@@Traitorman.14.3 There is very little evidence that lice are sentient, although other arthropods such as honeybees and jumping spiders certainly are, with the majority (arthropods) being what we can call for the sake of simplicity as 'semi-sentient'. All vertebrates are obviously sentient, though some chordates such as tunicates may not be.
What a lucky mouse. Very wholesome story.
@@Traitorman.14.3 Yes, you are valuable too.
Maybe this could be a not-so-rare occurrence. It could be the source of those legends of elves who used to tidy people's houses every night in exchange for something to eat. Possibly it was the mice all along (Ref: Douglas Adams)

Oohhhh, if that isn't the absolutely cutest thing I have seen in a long time!! How very touching.
That mouse has earned its keep. I wonder if it was getting a nest ready or it really hated the mess.
I wondered the same thing! The way it was kind of picking and choosing like, "Hey, look at this! I can sure use it for my new house". 😊
The mouse was building a nest
logic would say he was building a nest. but i’ve seen my fair share of mice nests & they don’t build nests with those materials, ever. nor do they just indiscriminately collect every single thing they see & precariously stack it in the middle of an open space like that. they use soft bedding like shredded paper, cotton, fabric, etc. & form their nest ball in a hidden/safe nook. this mouse’s behavior is def a rarity.
Maybe they used that material to build some home or for protection?@@LaciRae

Funnily enough mice are quite clean creatures. Their worst crime are the fleas they carry but can't really help it.
@@SilvaDreamsrodents are one of the cleanest animals, they became infested because humans decided to destroy their natural habitat (nature, woods) and built cities. So, those rodents had to eat from trash to survive. Hence the bad stereotypes. But rodent pet owners know they are very clean animals and don’t like dirt. They don’t want to go look for food in trash but they don’t have another option because of us humans.

I will never understand how anyone could set out glue traps, knowing how much suffering they will cause these sweet little creatures. Snap traps are not much better, as they are not a guaranteed instant death. Removing the food source and sealing up your property are the most effective and compassionate ways to deal with and prevent mouse and rat issues.
So glue traps are inhumane, because they leave the mouse or rat to starve or die of thirst, meanwhile removing the food source and entrance points is compassionate, despite it being an indirect way of leaving the mouse or rat to starve or die of thirst?
Look, you're trying to control a pest. There is no humane way of doing it.
@@jimmydesouza4375 oh silly, the rats are not pests. The humans are pests of the earth 😭
@@ramunasstulga8264 Wild rats are pests. But the more relevant part is that pest control by its nature is inhumane. Pest control by definition is inflicting suffering on an undesirable animal to improve some other factor.

R.I.P. Vincent 🐭🖤
I'm sorry to hear about Vincent. Can you explain more, what you've learnt from him ? Thank you in advance.
@@SpringNotes I learned that they’re much smarter and affectionate than I’d ever imagined. My sister is who wanted to buy him and I tried to talk her out of it because, “ew, a mouse”. However, she brought him home and he ended up taking a liking to me, instead of her, despite my apprehension towards him.
I had no idea I could bond with a mouse, nor that they could be in tune with us humans. Thus, be very communicative & receptive.
Also, they say that mice have no control over their bladder and bowel movements, but I don’t have any memory of him going on me whenever I’d hold him my hands or let him walk around on my arms.
Another anecdote-
He somehow got out of his cage once, got down from a 4ft shelf, and found me in my closet, packing for a weekend trip. He walked right up to the doorway and looked up at me with his tail perked. He could’ve gone anywhere else in the house or completely escaped, but he didn’t.
I nearly freaked out the idea of him running away from me if I reached for him. So, trying to at least seem calm, I knelt down, cupped my hands on the floor and called him. It’s still one of the most vivid memories I have of him- he waltzed right into my hands and just kept looking up at me 🥹
@@geryg7030 Wonderful, beautiful story!!! Thank You for telling us about little Vincent. ❤️❤️❤️💚
Why did you have to take in a mouse?
Did you get the name from biker mice from Mars cartoon?
I've always had a soft spot for mice. I can understand people being afraid of wild rats, but I'll never understand how anyone could be afraid of a cute field mouse.
Hanta Virus, for starters..
Yeah.. It's like, when they run up your pyjama leg when your sleeping or wee on your face, that kind of thing! Apart from that, they are cute!
They're noisy lil buggers at night and they'll eat or try to eat anything, that's why hahah.
It's because they move sooo fast.
Aside from the diseases they can transmit to humans, the fleas they carry that will infest your house and pets, they can be very destructive to wiring and other things in the home. They also leave their "droppings" literally everywhere including your pantry full of food that you then have to throw out.
