It's fantastic to see the kids getting involved in this stuff like this as they will help to teach the next generation... There were some beautiful engines there. I learnt to drive in a Morris Minor. I loved the "whole shed" exhibit.. bring it to every show hey... Great stuff.. I love to see what goes on over seas.
have several around here in Cornwall during the late summer, i always miss the most important one though since it happens before i realise, Trevithick Day, celebrating Richard Trevithick successfully building and running the first high pressure steam engine called the "Puffing Devil", they have a faithful replica which leads a parade around Camborne town.
I love that you filmed this! Events like this happen all the time in Ireland but we never take the time to document them; I worry that over time they will die out and we will have nothing left of them.
Use to go to that rally when it was called the Upton steam rally in the 1980's as a young boy. Still have the father's Landz Bulldog tractor similar to the one at 2.57 minutes. Landed in Cork port 3rd September 1939 the war was on 3 days at that stage.
love seeing the old time things that were made and used for practical use before my time of course! There are so many wonderful things to learn about their purpose! And how someone could actually invent all types of useful tools and engines fascinate me. And all the hard-working folks that use these tools and machines to plow they’re fields and grow things too! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us folks who always love watching your channel!👍👍👍👍❣️🏡
I hope your leg is alright, Sandra! Thank you for posting this video; it was really fascinating. I've never seen a horse gin before! Trudi looked very happy, too. She seems like a great pup.
I was in the same boat for six weeks after having surgery in April - I was just cleared to get back to riding and heavy work this week! It seems like forever, but you'll be back at it in no time. I wish you the best with recovery!
G'day, Yay Team ! That Steam-Driven Sawmill looks wildly dangerous to stand near..., I can envision that broken Drive-Belt flailing around and creating carnage among keen spectators... ; apart from it's delightful requirement for the Operator to climb aboard the Saw-Table to fiddle with it's bits within inches of the spinning Blade... I'd rather stand back and watch it than to get involved in playing with such a thing. I've seen a 2-Horse powered Chaff-Cutter in action, much like the "Horse-Gin" you showed, but with a double-ended Capstan-Bar atop the Centre Gear-Wheel - which was a big cast toothed Crown-Wheel that drove the Pinion -Shaft at a 10:1 Step-Up Ratio....; it's located at the Land Of The Beardies History-House & Museum, Glen Innes, NSW 2370, Australia.., where they occasionally set it up for demonstrations at the local Agricultural Society Show. Keep on keeping on... ;-p Ciao !
Oh what fun. We have a similar festival near where we live in the States. Our family goes every year. If you are ever in the States in August we'd love to take you.
It's a hit-and-miss engine which fires a spark seemingly at random. I couldn't help smiling at it. If you watch it fires 3 times, then theres a gap and it fires twice, and then twice more. It's amazing that it works at all.
I'd love to have a steam engine to generate electricity. Not that it would really be cost effective for me. My power bills recently have dropped to $43 for 3 months. But it could also produce lots of lovely hot water & heating, which is what I don't have at present.
A big old cob horse? There is something I've not often heard. To me big and cob are mutually exclusive. Big is reserved for Clyde's and Belgians, and the cob is a wee cart horse. I guess it's all perspective.
Sandra what happened? You cannot show up in a boot and not let us know. what a great time out. I love events like this. full of photography potentials wont say anything about the OSHA ( occupation safety health admin) terror of some of the devices and people
You're right, Martha. I broke my toe. Well Henry accidentally stood on it when I didn't have my steel-capped boots on. My fault really. The worst is I can't go riding : - (
Way Out West Blow-in blog hahaha I was about to suggest (replying to you in "my own" thread) that it must have been either Henry - or Tim whodunnit :-D

"Put in half a pint of thin oil every morning" . . . and this faithful machinery will keep running for your grandchildren.
I love hearing the pipes
Thank you once again. I love steam engines of all sorts. When I get a farm , I want a steam tractor. Among other things.
Wow, i just LOVE events like this!
Thanks for sharing this with us! :-)

I've heard of that engine - I must look it up....
How fun was that! Thanks for sharing the day!

Yes, it's impressive, for sure
Looks like the Shire from Lord of the Rings... but then a little while into the future! Magnificent.

Thanks Mae. Yes, I have huge respect for all those who developed, made and used those machines. Hats off to them all.
Ah, those pre covid times when the living was easy, happy days.
I hope your leg is alright, Sandra!

Thanks, Danny. Yes, it's getting better all the time - it means I can't go riding though : - (

That looks like a lot of fun...some amazing tractors there.
Would have loved to have seen that! Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a fun and educational day.
Tim and Sandra..both have enchanting voice...🤗🤗🤗
Aw, thanks!
we have some of those kinds of shows around here but not nearly as many steam engines, I do like to see the old machines still running.
G'day,
Yay Team !

Ciao !
You're right - that saw-mill was a whole collection of dangers. Makes my little contraptions look tame : - )
Oh what fun. We have a similar festival near where I live in the States. My family
Love seeing all of the traction engines out!
Have you ever considered getting a miniature one for your farm? Hehe!
I miss the beauty of Ireland ☺
Very cool
Fab machines and very funny commentary......and are you ok Sandra?!
Thanks, Claire. Yes I'm fine - except for my little toe, which is broken : - (

Ha! Thank you : - )
There's something magical about steam engines.
Yes there is : - )
What fun!
Oi, Sandra, what have you done to your leg again, girl!? Hope all is healing well.
I know! Silly me! Broke my toe : - (
In the end the horse had to work for it's food lol
tim, what are you up to now? i can just hear those gears in your head turning.
I wish - I seem to be too busy to do anything
What fun!!! Looks like Trudy had fun too!! And what's up with the boot !!! Did you get hurt?!
Yes, Sarah. I broke a toe. Silly me : - (
This is why Ireland may just well be the best country on earth.
hi nice one 50/60 bob
How interesting! What was your favorite engine doing, I couldn't make it out?
It's a hit-and-miss engine which fires a spark seemingly at random. I couldn't help smiling at it. If you watch it fires 3 times, then theres a gap and it fires twice, and then twice more. It's amazing that it works at all.
What was that you said about your horses not having a PTO?
1:35 Nice, but I wouldn't want to get close to that belt!
So did you pick up a small engine to run on your own little barn railroad? :)
I wish. I'd have to save up a long time first
So the next project will be building a steam engine then, obviously, Tim?? Hope so!
Well now, Ruby! Of course I'd love to but I'm way to busy trying to earn a living

Yep, it's all relative. There are small cobs and big cobs - ours are small. Unless you're a small child, in which case they are enormous!
Second comment Edit: Love you guys!
Sandra what happened? You cannot show up in a boot and not let us know.

Evro bizel 1,2,3,4
For the life of me, I don't understand why those belts don't fall off.
some sort of diabolical magic?
