In 1974, I got married & the company that my wife & I worked for offered us promotions to move to Rhyl. Over the years, the job became unbearable, so we sold our house and moved back home to get better jobs with more opportunities. We left many dear friends there and now many are no longer with us. Rhyl started to go downhill in the 70s. Despite all the regeneration that was put into the town, it never really attracted many visitors, shame really. If I could have found a decent paying job, there we would never have left. Even the move back home was a shock. It wasn't the place that we left it too but it wasn't a patch of its former self. Anyhow, that's life. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
I loved Rhyl. We went there many times in the late 70's early 80's on holiday from Glasgow when I was a kid. I remember going to the Sun Centre when it opened. It was an amazing place with flumes and wave machines. I went back there with my wife in 97 and it had certainly declined since my childhood.
Perhaps, (and this is just a wild theory on society as a whole) thick folk have the most kids, so the population is getting thicker and the downward spiral accelerates ........
There is a lot of truth in that I'm afraid. IQ is actually falling slightly every few years because of this phenomenon. The problem with advocating that higher IQ people have more children is that you then get in the territory of having to acknowledge that certain ethnic groups have higher than average IQs, which then basically puts you into eugenics and you'll called a nazi.
I've got a fantastic fact for you. That big tower used to be in Glasgow. It was called the Clydesdale Tower and it was built for the Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988. When the festival finished, the tower was dismantled and sent to Rhyl. it was an enclosed rotating deck that went up to the top of the tower and allowed for a panoramic view. I went up it in Glasgow in 1988 as a teenager and then again in Rhyl in 1997 with my wife.
Local legend says that, when they first installed the tower in Rhyl, they couldn’t figure out how to stop the loud noise cause by wind whistling through the cables so the council asked the previous owners of the tower how they dealt with it. Their answer was “we sold it to Rhyl”.
You pair are made for each other. And your open mindedness to new places is so refreshing and entertaining. You have me smiling. Keep it up A & C. Best wishes.
The history of the Eisteddfod goes back as far as the 12th Century, as a kid in school every year it was a big deal and we were all expected to participate, I was always good at art so would always enter a painting, all arts and crafts are catered for but I think most always think of singing and poetry foremost when they think of the Eisteddfod, which literally translates as sitting-together, it's a beautiful event and tradition and even makes me quite emotional and proud thinking about it. The main Welsh Eisteddfod is called the 'Urdd' and takes place annually alternating between North and South Wales, but the one I think you two should definitely plan on visiting is the annual International Eisteddfod in Llangollen where countries from all over the world come to compete, they wear their national dress and sing traditional songs whilst playing traditional instruments, and there's lots of dancing too, there's a parade where they all sing and dance around the town which is absolutely amazing, seriously it's incredible and would make for an amazing video!
Since they got rid of the fun fair and the sun center, spent millions on the sea front and nothing in Rhyl itself , the place went down hill years ago and the tourists stopped coming, shame really

Went on holiday with our two boys to Prestatyn in 1992, stayed in a Haven holiday camp and visited Rhyl. I remember it feeling very run down, particularly the sea front. Thought maybe it was because we lived in Scarborough (still do) and there was no comparison. Looks like they have tried to improve things but not sure it has worked.
Definitely trying to improve and the beach was super clean and it was nice on the front. We love Scarborough, not been there for some time so due a visit soon Thanks for watching
I spent many childhood summers in Rhyl and Towyn, it's now so not the place it used to be. I also remember going out on a boat sea fishing off Rhyl, we went out about a mile and the water was still only around 3ft deep 😅
Just stumbled across your TH-cam channel. Happy we did. Excellent videos. Thinking of buying a 2 berth Motorhome soon to explore and sell antiques and collectables from. I'm actually from Rhyl, but live in Kinmel Bay. This video was so refreshing. It's lovely to see a video showing the beauty of the area and so many positives. Rhyl gets so much negative press for all the wrong reasons. It's a beautiful place to both live and work. Really looking forward to watching more of your adventures. Onwards and upwards.
Hi. Welcome to our channel and we are happy you found us We love our motorhome and glad we got it, changed our lives and we use it as muxh as we can. We enjoyed Rhyl. The beach and nature reserve was beautiful. Happy travels and hope to see you out on the road 🚐
@@StchristopherofatlantisMost of the communities in this part of North Wales have for many years been degraded and turned into dormitory towns for all the homegrown scumbags that Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham etc want to be rid of. Of course our own councils and politicians have been complicit in this. Replying to a comment comparing Rhyl to Gaza with "Sorry to say this made us laugh" is just wrong considering the current situation in Gaza Not meaning to be critical of your video just speaking the truth as I see it. All the best.
I enjoyed this video, used to holiday near Rhyl in the 70s in Towyn. Loved Rhyl when the fairground was there. It’s been allowed to go to rack and ruin by the council has Rhyl. It is now a place where they rehouse many drug addicts from the Wirral and Liverpool area. A shame really.
like a lot of places etc.........a "lot" of the so-called alkies/druggies have been moved on to another place...further up the coast....beginning with the letter "B"............there "every where............just dressed differently etc etc...........some of them ARE .OK.......just need a "Chance" when we walk down these streets we don,t "Know" their circumstances etc.............I know has empty shops etc....they look old/worn but "not" as bad as a lot of places........I like it there.........down to earth.............Rhylis just one of those places on TH-cam like blackpool...Jaywick....liverpool and others pleople just decend to make the "same" boring video,s on "TH-cam" its like a stuck-record...........
Hi i live near here, the Aquarium has recently shut down due to work being done on the sea defences at the front. This disturbed the seals due to the noise they rehomed the seals and then not long after the aquarium was running at a loss so now its closed and is going to be demolished. The sky Tower closed long ago and was a revolving lookout over the sea. The fair closed and was demolished a few years back, we dont know what the council are going to replace these with but i do know its a lotless active in Rhyl now than when i first moved to the area.
Hi, Thanks for watching, there is so much scope to do great things in Rhyl, the beach and big open areas makes it perfect for food fairs or little markets.
I've lived in Rhyl for 15 years (originally Glasgow) and I love it here!! Yes town is a bit run down but everywhere else is beautiful!! The Seaquarium closed because of the sea defence work they are doing. The animals were getting stressed so they were rehomed at other aquariums around the country!! I must have been out and about when you filmed this because I stopped and had a look at that Vauxhall Nova too!! I tried to spot myself but no luck 🤣 Great video 💕
Love this! Way too many people just go to places like this just to find negative reasons which is sad, Yeah its not as glorious as it used to be, but for some people It's still the heart of home,
The reason it went downhill is the people of Liverpool found it was cheaper to holiday in Spain and Türkiye so if they could get a passport went there instead leaving Rhyl and Llandudno to fall into decline, that and the silly 20mph limits now in force over much of Wales means it is no longer a day trip from England to get there.
I was on my own for 5yrs with my three kids and saved from one yr to the nxt to take them away to rhyl for a week and had a great time ..sad to see it so run down but like most councilors they would rather cut funding than take a cut in their allowances! every little bit would help
I live about 40 miles from Rhyl and the town is a bit of a dumping ground ,my son goes windsurfing from the cafe you was at its a lovley place , the stone circle was a place of wirship and the centre stone was for the sacrifice of a local virgin on saturday night but as they are impossible to find in Rhyl today the custom has died out .
Thanks guys for being very nice towards Rhyl - shame you missed the Garden of Remembrance on the prom between the Kite Surf and the Lifeboat House - Da iawn with your attempts at welsh pronunciation 🥰
The late, great Nicky Hayden aka The Kentucky Kid - MotoGP World Champion in 2006 but sadly died in an accident when riding a bicycle in Italy, aged 35. RIP Nicky. Andy - stick to the motorbike; it's safer 👍
Nice to see Rhyl in a good light. Many happy memories both as a kid and an adult. There were many attractions and tourist ideas tried - even a monorail along the prom. The trouble was maintenance and costs as well as dubious construction from the last century. It is great to see "Sunny Rhyl" slowly returning.
We used to go to Rhyl for our holiday every year on “Barnsley Feast Week”. Someone in our village, Mapplewell, used to organise a bus, probably from Globe I think, just a small one. We stayed in a B&B which later turned into holiday “flatlets”. The amusements were great and there was a pleasure beach. Marine Lake and its miniature railway was a favourite of mine. That Nova had a Hull registration on it!
Hi just watched your video. Looks ok. Just had my own wee adventure, spent the day and night in hospital. Severe pain in abdomen, which turned out to be small bowel infection. They are also arranging for me to see a specialist for liver and gallbladder bladder issues. Got home about 8.00pm last night (Thursday) knackered but bit better. Need to be as want to be on another adventure soon just not the hospital. Get van heater fixed on Tuesday then off somewhere, anywhere nice for rest. Look forward to your next jaunt. Jan and Will 👍
Hi Jan and Will Crikey! Sorry to hear this but glad you are home and better. Good to hear they are sorting you out 👍👍 we and you our best wishes for good health ❤️❤️ Get out and about for that rest xxx
The events arena was built due to the popularity of the Radio 1 Roadshow but a few years later they stopped doing them. It does have a few events in the summer, less major ones lately due to the ongoing sea defence works
We have been there, was holiday time, it was rammed and the facilities struggled. Dogs loved the sea and the bar on the promenade was nice too. Keep up the good work 🎉
I got a bike for my 12th birthday and me and my mate immediately made plans to bike to Barnsley metrodome from Crofton. I chained my bike up outside making sure to go through the quick release wheels so there was no way it could be knicked. Came out and theyd knicked my waterbottle and my quick release seat 🙄 😂
Good to have Mr. Voice Over back, it’s a pity, this time, the production budget didn’t stretch to have a few more extras on set to at least give the place the appearance of being vibrant . Rhyl looks like it’s lost it’s sole, something motor caravaners could go part way towards helping if embraced rather than discourage like so many other resorts are doing. Hope your tour makes it across the water to Anglesey and visit Rhosneigr. All the best to you both.
Loved the video. It's so pleasant to hear people with a positive outlook on life. Well done trying to pronounce welsh properly. You didn't do a bad job. Keep it up. 10 out of 10.
You two are adorable and hilarious. I spent my teenage years in Rhyl in the 80s till I moved away. Really enjoyed your video and commentary 😂 ❤ brought back so many memories. Both my parents retired and passed away now and Wales was there last home and was a beautiful time. Made my Sunday watching this Thank you ❤
The National Eisteddfod is held in or near a different town every summer. Usually alternating between North and South Wales. The stone circles are erected after the event (I think). So every town where the Eisteddfod has been held has a stone circle somewhere in the town. Rhyl was 1991 I think 🤔
@@mid-walesrover681 I don't know to be honest. It was held in Liverpool too. The Birkenhead 1917 was the "Eisteddfod y gadair ddu" the black chair Eisteddfod. The winner of the chair had been killed in Ypres a few days earlier. The bard Hedd wyn
Went to rhyl on a family holiday early 80's. I can remember they had a great water park, but i remember it being scruffy and run down. Great video again guys 😊
The large round paved area is called Rhyl Events Arena. They sometime have music events there. Sutch as Tom Jones and Jack Savarati, etc appeared there.
Copy paste this title below in the youtube search box to see that bridge in Rhyl operating to let sail ships in. Rhyl Pont y Ddraig Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge in operation Another great video guys. Rhyl is ok for an hour, but I hated living there as a teen...
Fair play, you do manage to make everywhere look good. Nice crack at the Welsh language, everyone in Wales appreciates the effort, thanks both. I hope you get the weather for the rest of your Welsh trip! If it’s not too far off your route I recommend Betws y Coed (you can get some good outdoor gear here) and Llanberis.
I still remember to this day my 1 and only (thankfully) holiday in Rhyl some 65 years ago. We stayed at the Robin hood holiday camp, a most dismle place, even for an adventurous child. The facilities were dismle, dirty and uninviting. My father contracted food poisoning which put him in bed for 2 days of the week, my mother contacted reception who phoned for a doctor which lead she and myself a 1 mile walk to the barrier to meet up with him. He said to my mother she could get in the car to show him which caravan we were staying at, but the " urchin" could walk, to which she replied we will both walk and he could follow. This was our first family holiday, and times were hard then, fortunately my parents could afford 2 weeks holidays in Devon after that, so happy days.
Rhyl not what it used to be and I'm talking Victorian. Sorry Rhyl but there is much nicer seaside towns in North Wales just a bit further down the coast. My memories of the place are Bitter Sweet. In 1978 I was dragged there by my Mum and Dad who nearly got talked into buying a caravan on one of the many sites on the outskirts. It pissed it down all weekend and was miserable and grey. The only good thing about it was I met this Irish lass and we had a blast of a time on some ramshackle attempt at a funfair which was just a bunch of hoopla shacks somewhere near the sea. Luckily Mum and Dad didnt buy a caravan there ! It looks a bit better these days but its not for me. A good honest video.
Re: the Bee Friendly Wildflower areas. These can be found throughout Denbighshire. They are mown and cuttings collected toward the end of the summer to encourage regrowth the following spring / summer. Visit earlier in the summer to see the Bee Friendly verges in full bloom
Hi Andy & Claire, I’ll give you a laugh about Rhyl police station a few years ago myself and wife stayed in a caravan in towyn just down rd from Rhyl, and one night we went for a walk into Rhyl and the bar next door to the Police Station called the police for some sort of disturbance, anyway a police car came from the back of the station with 4 police officers in it and it pulled up outside the bar, how lazy is that they only had to walk out the front door and turn left, just think of the petrol they wasted just for a 10 second drive, while 2 of the officers walked back with one male in handcuffs the other 2 drove back with a female in custody, talk about special treatment for the female lol, this is a true story by the way not fiction
Enjoyed this, sadly we miss motorhoming in UK nowadays, no way paying the rip off UK prices recently, ferry to Dunkirk on Sunday, staying at our first site after drive from Leeds just 8 miles down the coast, €15, then heading south for 90 days again, as far as South Spain, refuse to pay anything over £18 per night & sites must be beachside with bar & pool (apart from The Camping Car Park Sites through central France)
Currently in mid France, another Camping Car Park site, stunning & just £12 per night Would like to send you photos & details however wife, kids & grandkids demanded I deleted Facebook a few weeks back in case Starmer had me jailed, do you have email? No other way really 😢
I remember going to an Italian restaurant in Rhyl about 20 years ago. The proprietor went on like it was Claridges but it was really run down. I only realised later it was because that state was standard for Rhyl.
I've lived in Rhyl, on and off, my whole life. Taking time out to live in Dubai, Canada and the US. Rhyl is a town of two halves. The north and the south. The north is an absolute shite hole. The south is actually really nice and middle class.
As a kid in the 70's went to Rhyl and Prestatyn loads of times for summer hols. Stayed a Pontins and catched chicken pox, stayed on static caravan sites with the railway a stones throw made the caravan shake. Went to the sun centre, the beach, fish and chips fantastic memories with mom and dad and nan and grandad ❤
Do you find as coffee drinkers that you always get hot ones ? Doesn’t matter where we go the coffee is always lukewarm, hate it and I love a nice hot coffee !
Love you guys . Cant believe you remember or even know about Superbuy in Wakefield. I loved that shop at the side of the indoor market in Wakey. In the early 90's I bought my first decent guitar there, a 1985 japanese Squier strat for £50 . Ive since bought and sold literally hundreds of guitars but that strat will be the last guitar I part with. Superbuy was a wonderful shop and the owner was a top bloke. please keep up the videos, I love them and the clear chemistry between you both. (is mixing oil and water classed as chemistry ? ) ;0)
Great video, Ihave a place in Prestatyn, so know a little of Rhyl, The new swimming leisure centre is closed due to the roof leaking ! I Like Rhyl, not everybody's cup of tea
Sunny Rhyl great weather but very little to do there now few shops and attractions sad they either should go full nature reserve or bring back attractions
Home Brew in the downstairs toilet. Whats that if it tastes like p*** it probably is 😂 We love your sense of humour both so quick witted, you always make us laugh.
Hellooooo from us. Rhyl, in a new light, looks like you pixilated the best bits 😂. Lovely to see you trying out these places that have been given a bad name, everywhere deserves a second chance 😊. We once met a steward his first name was bar 😮. As for the log we found one in Wales, never used that toilet again 😳. Great to see you having a day without rain. Looking forward to the next one 😀. Take care and enjoy as always. Paul and Joanne 👍 ♥️ x
@@Stchristopherofatlantis yes it was, we lived near the old hospital (mum was a nurse there), the kitesurf cafe/bar is ace! A nice pint & watch a lovely sunset from there, the shopping park near the marine lake used to be the fun fair, Rhyl gets a lot of bad press but it’s no different to most seaside towns, run down & under investment 🤷♂️
I like Rhyl, we usually go in jan and have a week, almost everything is shut, but there's less people and the scencery around is still there, which makes it cheaper, we don't go for the weather, good job really lol. 8 grand for a nova, bit steep for me, bet it wasn't that much new.
Bloody hell our Mom and Dad took us there every year when we were kids - late 60s and 70s - there was always lots to do and some happy memories of my dear Mom and Dad who are no longer with us
You should come over to the IOM, home of the TT if you're into motorbikes now. Plenty of nice places to camp and wild camp and although the ferry can be expensive, it's much cheaper if you're flexible with times/dates and avoid TT fortnight/Grandprix week. Atm there's Supercars here for a festival. 'Life's too Short' came over when they had the Little Red Camper. Cheers Debs x
@@Stchristopherofatlantis if you come over and need anything, water/electric top-up etc, happy to help (7 mins from Douglas, practically on the course) 😁.
Town Hall Clock has always been slanted but they did do work on it. Try looking back at pictures of it from the 70's onwards. Google should have images. I moved to Rhyl in 1972, they had the fun fair, roller skating rink and much, much more. It was always packed. Sadly it has declined over the decades but I will never leave Rhyl. P. S I am 61. Great video ❤
Rhyl has certainly changed a lot of the years. You are visiting at the best time as in the summer it gets crowded. Love going when the air show is on though. Its great to see familiar places through someone elses eyes.
Love the voice over at the beginning and end with the posh voice 😊 and Clare and myself started singing it's just an illusion at the same time, not been to Rhyl for years, prefer Llandudno, the goldwing (motorcycle) light parade is an event you would both enjoy (Llandudno one being the biggest) the Scarborough and Skegness ones are good as well, look them up on TH-cam, another great vlog in the dry this time 😅
There's an identical ( possibly slightly bigger ) stone circle, in the middle of a park in Wrexham. Some people think that it's been there since the dawn of time. It hasn't. I saw it being constructed in about 1976.
That big circle thing is the "events arena" they do a couple of events over summer but even that's dying out now and the building next to it with the blue roof was the sea life centre, one of rhyls last attractions which recently shut down
In days of yesteryear. When men were men. Evidentally brutish Welsh Celtic Warriors used to have personal tatoos, sporting the Red Dragon, or Ddraig Goch. As well as this place names were tattooed on the men, the largest members in the clan used to recieve the largest place names to represent each town in battle. The largest and most massive Celtic warrior recieved the greatest honour, representing Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, as his tattoo. Whereas Jones the dwarf in the clan had the place name Rhyl, or so the legend goes ?
We went to the site 3 years ago when we had our Vdub. It was pouring down as usual so we didn't stay. We're not lucky with the weather in Wales. We'll go to Norfolk next year instead.
The voice-over man is clearly a being of culture and taste. Only Sir Patrick Moore on Gamesmaster could have handled the subject so eloquently and with such decorum.
Is the voiceover man single? I'm 60 but live in hope. Thank goodness I only thought that and didn't write it.😊 On topic; I went to Rhyl in 1990, it looked OK when i got there, but after sunset, the local vampires came out and you don't want that, they have terrible breath.
ahhh, 20 minutes of watching the lifeboat retrieval, while listening to Rachel Reilly shuffle a pack of cards - luxury. I'm loving this walk around Wales, I had no idea it was so stunning. Brings back memories of Catherine Zeta Jones in Darling Buds of May.
The Frith is part of Prestatyn, not between Prestatyn and Rhyl. I've lived here all my life and really liked seeing it from your perspective. your pronunciation is excellent, fair do's (Many English people just take the piss out of the language). The festival is in Llangollen and is a world wide arts festival. Rhyl is a real mixed place. Many, many non-Welsh people live there and the extremely cheap housing attracts unemployed people from Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. English prisoners finishing their sentences were offered cheap accommodation in Rhyl in the 80s and 90s and an influx of drug users came. You can see Eryri (Snowdon) from almost anywhere in N Wales
Bore Da We had a fabulous time and think the beach and nature reserve was beautiful Can’t wait to explore Wales more. We do visit Llangollen 👍👍 Thanks for watching

Thought maybe it was because we lived in Scarborough (still do) and there was no comparison. Looks like they have tried to improve things but not sure it has worked.
Definitely trying to improve and the beach was super clean and it was nice on the front.
We love Scarborough, not been there for some time so due a visit soon
Thanks for watching
I spent many childhood summers in Rhyl and Towyn, it's now so not the place it used to be. I also remember going out on a boat sea fishing off Rhyl, we went out about a mile and the water was still only around 3ft deep 😅
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍👋

Hi. Welcome to our channel and we are happy you found us
We love our motorhome and glad we got it, changed our lives and we use it as muxh as we can.
We enjoyed Rhyl. The beach and nature reserve was beautiful.
Happy travels and hope to see you out on the road 🚐
What a fantastic couple you make helped me through a bad patch thank you so much love from paul❤
We hope you are at the top of the hill now and feeling good xxx
Yes im well now thank you❤
Oh wow Rhyl! I look forwards to your next vlogs from Aleppo and Gaza City.
Replying to a comment comparing Rhyl to Gaza with "Sorry to say this made us laugh" is just wrong considering the current situation in Gaza
Not meaning to be critical of your video just speaking the truth as I see it.

Massive shame. A fantastic beach and nature reserve area

And now you holiday abroad?
Hi i live near here, the Aquarium has recently shut down due to work being done on the sea defences at the front. This disturbed the seals due to the noise they rehomed the seals and then not long after the aquarium was running at a loss so now its closed and is going to be demolished. The sky Tower closed long ago and was a revolving lookout over the sea. The fair closed and was demolished a few years back, we dont know what the council are going to replace these with but i do know its a lotless active in Rhyl now than when i first moved to the area.
Hi, Thanks for watching, there is so much scope to do great things in Rhyl, the beach and big open areas makes it perfect for food fairs or little markets.
full of junkies and pissheads
I've lived in Rhyl for 15 years (originally Glasgow) and I love it here!! Yes town is a bit run down but everywhere else is beautiful!! The Seaquarium closed because of the sea defence work they are doing. The animals were getting stressed so they were rehomed at other aquariums around the country!! I must have been out and about when you filmed this because I stopped and had a look at that Vauxhall Nova too!! I tried to spot myself but no luck 🤣 Great video 💕
Hi. We had a cracking time and loved the beach cafe and waking up to the nature reserve. Thank you for watching. Happy travels 👍👍☀️
@@Stchristopherofatlantishi, did you sleep in the nature reserve then? 😂
Love this! Way too many people just go to places like this just to find negative reasons which is sad, Yeah its not as glorious as it used to be, but for some people It's still the heart of home,
We had a fab time in Rhyl. The big beach and nature reserve was ace 👍
12 holes of fun!! If you’re not a fan of crowds Rhyl is the place to be.

What a great start to our Saturday morning, watched you on the big tv with our 1st cuppa.

Hi. We saw the 20mph! Thanks for watching
Thanks for coming to Rhyl and not slagging it off…we love it
Loved the beach and nature reserve 👍
I was on my own for 5yrs with my three kids and saved from one yr to the nxt to take them away to rhyl for a week and had a great time ..sad to see it so run down but like most councilors they would rather cut funding than take a cut in their allowances! every little bit would help
Hi. We had such a fab time in Rhyl, the beach was big and beautiful and the. fire reserve lush. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Hi. We had a great time 👍👍
I love 10 minutes away in Abergele. Rhyl is such a hole now. It’s a real shame
Thanks guys for being very nice towards Rhyl - shame you missed the Garden of Remembrance on the prom between the Kite Surf and the Lifeboat House - Da iawn with your attempts at welsh pronunciation 🥰

We had a fab time and loved the beach 👍
We used to go to Rhyl for our holiday every year on “Barnsley Feast Week”. Someone in our village, Mapplewell, used to organise a bus, probably from Globe I think, just a small one. We stayed in a B&B which later turned into holiday “flatlets”. The amusements were great and there was a pleasure beach. Marine Lake and its miniature railway was a favourite of mine.
That Nova had a Hull registration on it!
We had a cracking time. Andy knows Mapplewell very well 👋👋👋👋👋
Poor Rhyl. Yes it has itas problems like all seaside towns. Im so glad you guys gave it a go and found the positives. Well done!
The beach there and nature reserve are fantastic 👍👍
Hi just watched your video. Looks ok. Just had my own wee adventure, spent the day and night in hospital. Severe pain in abdomen, which turned out to be small bowel infection. They are also arranging for me to see a specialist for liver and gallbladder bladder issues. Got home about 8.00pm last night (Thursday) knackered but bit better. Need to be as want to be on another adventure soon just not the hospital. Get van heater fixed on Tuesday then off somewhere, anywhere nice for rest. Look forward to your next jaunt. Jan and Will 👍

The events arena was built due to the popularity of the Radio 1 Roadshow but a few years later they stopped doing them. It does have a few events in the summer, less major ones lately due to the ongoing sea defence works

Hi. We loved the beach and the nature reserve 👍👍
We have been there, was holiday time, it was rammed and the facilities struggled. Dogs loved the sea and the bar on the promenade was nice too. Keep up the good work 🎉
Lovely out of season 👍👍
I got a bike for my 12th birthday and me and my mate immediately made plans to bike to Barnsley metrodome from Crofton.
I chained my bike up outside making sure to go through the quick release wheels so there was no way it could be knicked. Came out and theyd knicked my waterbottle and my quick release seat 🙄 😂
Metrodome was a classic place to go with friends. Impressed you cycled all that way 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good to have Mr.
Hi. Thanks for watching, oh yeah we venture to Anglesey 👍👍🏴

The National Eisteddfod is held in or near a different town every summer. Usually alternating between North and South Wales. The stone circles are erected after the event (I think). So every town where the Eisteddfod has been held has a stone circle somewhere in the town. Rhyl was 1991 I think 🤔
We loved the history here 👍

In 1917 the National Eisteddfod was held in Birkenhead Park, Wirral. I'm not sure if there is a stone circle there.

Hi. Beauty is there if you look for it 👍❤️
I still remember to this day my 1 and only (thankfully) holiday in Rhyl some 65 years ago.
Any old iron , hammer right advert Clare , got the bloody song stuck in my head now .
Any any any owd iron 😂😂😂
Thank you for watching 👍👍👍
Lovely video thanks for not putting rhyl Down
We had a great time 👍

Hi. We will do this , thank you 🐝
Hi Andy & Claire, I’ll give you a laugh about Rhyl police station a few years ago myself and wife stayed in a caravan in towyn just down rd from Rhyl, and one night we went for a walk into Rhyl and the bar next door to the Police Station called the police for some sort of disturbance, anyway a police car came from the back of the station with 4 police officers in it and it pulled up outside the bar, how lazy is that they only had to walk out the front door and turn left, just think of the petrol they wasted just for a 10 second drive, while 2 of the officers walked back with one male in handcuffs the other 2 drove back with a female in custody, talk about special treatment for the female lol, this is a true story by the way not fiction
Noooooo way
Enjoyed this, sadly we miss motorhoming in UK nowadays, no way paying the rip off UK prices recently, ferry to Dunkirk on Sunday, staying at our first site after drive from Leeds just 8 miles down the coast, €15, then heading south for 90 days again, as far as South Spain, refuse to pay anything over £18 per night & sites must be beachside with bar & pool (apart from The Camping Car Park Sites through central France)
This sounds great. We will more than likely travel in Europe next year 👍👍
Currently in mid France, another Camping Car Park site, stunning & just £12 per night
Would like to send you photos & details however wife, kids & grandkids demanded I deleted Facebook a few weeks back in case Starmer had me jailed, do you have email?
No other way really 😢
I remember going to an Italian restaurant in Rhyl about 20 years ago. The proprietor went on like it was Claridges but it was really run down. I only realised later it was because that state was standard for Rhyl.
Hate to say this made me laugh a bit 😂😂 thanks for watching
I've lived in Rhyl, on and off, my whole life. Taking time out to live in Dubai, Canada and the US. Rhyl is a town of two halves. The north and the south. The north is an absolute shite hole. The south is actually really nice and middle class.
Hi. The beach area and the nature reserve were really beautiful.
Hope you enjoy Dubai, Canada and US 👍👍👍

You should come over to the IOM, home of the TT if you're into motorbikes now. Plenty of nice places to camp and wild camp and although the ferry can be expensive, it's much cheaper if you're flexible with times/dates and avoid TT fortnight/Grandprix week. Town Hall Clock has always been slanted but they did do work on it. Try looking back at pictures of it from the 70's onwards. Google should have images. There's an identical ( possibly slightly bigger ) stone circle, in the middle of a park in Wrexham. Some people think that it's been there since the dawn of time. It hasn't. I saw it being constructed in about 1976.

That big circle thing is the "events arena" they do a couple of events over summer but even that's dying out now and the building next to it with the blue roof was the sea life centre, one of rhyls last attractions which recently shut down
Sad to see things close down

In days of yesteryear. When men were men. Evidentally brutish Welsh Celtic Warriors used to have personal tatoos, sporting the Red Dragon, or Ddraig Goch. As well as this place names were tattooed on the men, the largest members in the clan used to recieve the largest place names to represent each town in battle. The largest and most massive Celtic warrior recieved the greatest honour, representing
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, as his tattoo. Whereas Jones the dwarf in the clan had the place name Rhyl, or so the legend goes ?

The voice-over man is clearly a being of culture and taste. Only Sir Patrick Moore on Gamesmaster could have handled the subject so eloquently and with such decorum.
Well of course 😂😂👍👍
Is the voiceover man single? I'm 60 but live in hope. Thank goodness I only thought that and didn't write it.😊 On topic; I went to Rhyl in 1990, it looked OK when i got there, but after sunset, the local vampires came out and you don't want that, they have terrible breath.

Welcome to Rhyl in the 21st century.
As kids, we were dragged from Birmingham to Rhyl for a weeks holiday. And then Towyn. It was the best week of a young Brummies life!
Glorious Birmingham. We are planning a city break there soon!
ahhh, 20 minutes of watching the lifeboat retrieval, while listening to Rachel Reilly shuffle a pack of cards - luxury. I'm loving this walk around Wales, I had no idea it was so stunning. Brings back memories of Catherine Zeta Jones in Darling Buds of May.
John. You most certainly win the award for funniest man alive 😂😂😂😂😂
