Thank you for these videos, Planet Subaru! As a long-time (and happy!) Saab owner and enthusiast I'm seeing commonality with Subaru's approach to making cars. Practical, functional, fun and not afraid to be different. Maybe the Outback Onyx XT is in my future, although I'll never again find a shop like Tor's Saab in Lompoc!
This is the best comparison of these two vehicles I’ve seen..definitely has helped me decide on an outback over ascent..THANKYOU..I just wish you were closer to California!
If you closed your eyes, you would have a hard time knowing the difference in ride quality or noise on the highway. You would know you were in the Ascent when you got off the highway and started cornering, where the additional weight of the Ascent makes it feel a little more ponderous compared to the Outback.
@@PlanetSubaruBoston Thanks! Just one other question - Is the Ascent Touring noticeably quieter on the highway than the Ascent Onyx? I just test drove the Onyx and felt it was lacking in cabin quietness. The dealership told me if cabin quietness is important, then I should consider the Touring, as it has more sound insulation. But they don't have a Touring available for test drive.
@@sansinutube Perhaps you need to visit Planet Subaru where we stock both! You can Google decibel ratings and report back here, but it's hard to imagine thicker windshield lamination would make a huge difference...
They both have essentially the same AWD system and similar technology, but we find that the Outback is arguably the best Subaru in the snow: long wheelbase, wide track, and, compared to the Ascent and Solterra, significantly less mass.
Three rows vs two rows. Unless this is purely based on the powertrain (Turbo) i would expect the comparison to be Forester vs Outback..... cuz thats what people are cross shopping
Earlier generations of the Outback had two pieces of glass, but the current generation offers only a single sliding panel. There's a pic of the Outback moonroof on this page: www.planetsubaru.com/outback-vs-ascent.htm
2020 Outback curb weights (depending on trim level): 3,634 to 3,937 lbs. 2020 Ascent: 4,430 to 4,603 lbs. So the delta ranges up to 796 pounds, not quite a half ton but definitely enough to affect the handling and acceleration in a noticeable way.
The X is probably the closest direct Tesla competitor and an awesome car. Much more expensive, though, you could have both the Outback and the Ascent for the price of one Tesla Model X.
This was the most honest review I’ve seen from any car salesman but I do love my Subaru’s
I just love how the Outback is a "station wagon," which I absolutely adore!

Road trip!
If I were you, I'd love to choose high chassis car, I think Ascent is better than Outback, but Outback is also good.
Ron Hall A 30 year salesman who is the Man, I worked with him this last two years and sold 6 cars for him ! referrals !
Yep, but when will we see the 2020 Outback XT Turbo model released downunder? 🇦🇺
Is the Ascent quieter and smoother on the Highway compared to the Outback XT ?

I wish you guys were in the Michigan😀
Will there be a difference in snow performance?

What is that extra piece of trim on the middle of the Ascent's doors?
Optional body side moldings. Some people like the look, others like the way they protect the doors from dings.
@@PlanetSubaruBoston I actually like the look haha, gonna order some for my Ascent!
