This was a treat. He's a hall of fame broadcaster for a reason. What's amazing is that at 90, he really lost nothing on his fastball. This was a treat to listen to.
I had a long drive from Las Vegas to Albuquerque earlier this year. It was the weekend the Yankees were playing the Brewers. I put on the SiriusXM app, but instead of listening to the FAN broadcast, I put on the TMJ feed so I could listen to Ueck. I'm so glad I did. Got to hear him to do a live broadcast, one more time!
Thank you so very much for sharing this, I personally appreciate it. Being that I remember him from Mr.Belvedere, during my childhood. May he rest in eternal paradise, heavenly peace, and power alongside God. And may God bless us everyone.
Wow! Bob sounded phenomenal! Totally blown away. I'm still shocked John Sterling retired. Bob should be a role model for all of us to keep on living even when we're well past what society considers our sell by date.
Ellis, my brother is a real radio afficianado and it's so great that you would include this last inning in its entirety especially for the sake of posterity for a true home team sports broadcasting icon like Mr. Bob Uecker.
As a Cubs fan I can't stand the Brewers, but when I couldn't listen to the Cubs broadcast for whatever reason and we were playing the Brewers I looked forward to hearing Bob calling the game.
As a Cardinal fan St. Louis has always had a soft spot for Ueck he was a World Champion with the 64 Red Birds and was/is always spoken of in high regard. St. Louis also loved Uecker.
It goes unsaid but at the end its clear you are listening to someone calling his last game and he knew it and knew his wish of calling the Brewers winning a World Series...let alone just being alive to see it, would go unrealized. If you can listen to that knowing the context and not have your heart break into a million pieces you don't have one in the first place.
I don't know that he knew it was his last game, but I do know he sounded crushed and it was heartbreaking. I am not from WI so maybe Brewers fans knew Ueck was calling his last. He sounded vibrant and like he was not sick but hearing Jeff Levering in the days since his passing, I guess it was a real effort for Uecker to do what he did so maybe he did know. It was crushing to this non-Brewers fan when it happened and even more so knowing it was Uecker's last call but I think it's overdramatic to say he knew it. It didn't sound that way to me.
Honestly when the brewers had that base hit it felt like he was suddenly 30 years younger and then the double play and he was 90...😢😢 RIP Bob Thanks for sharing

Bob Uecker is the sound of Summer Days and Warm Summer nights in Wisconsin. I will miss Him. Summer will not be the same.

Thanks....Ellis, Bob was the best at what he did......
Ellis, thanks for sharing this great baseball memory.
You are most welcome!
You can hear the pain and disappointment in Ueck's voice. He probably knew it.
Thank you for sharing.

@hughrist6257 what I meant is that after the final out that thought could have ocurred in his mind as he was trying to speak.
As a Brewers fan listening to Devin blowing the game against the Mets is very difficult.
It was sad to see Uke’s career end with a loss , but as a Met fan a different story
It's W.T.M.J.
My bad!
* WTMJ, not WTJM.
Dang it!!! I messed that up!
@@EllisFeaster it's alright, mistakes happen.
Can u correct da title?
What needs to be fixed?
What you speak like an adult?
rip
Its WTMJ not WTJM.
My bad! After posting over 4,000 airchecks, I was bound to get one wrong!
Who says there's no crying in baseball.....
Sadly not a happy ending lol...but sorry not sorry (Mets fan)
