A Quiet Afternoon Walk in a Cotswold Village

- Out and about Walking in Chedworth
So, for today's walk I tried something slightly different, walking on an afternoon instead of the usual early morning/morning in a Cotswold village. I found that there was an advantage to an afternoon walk over a morning one which was better quality of light (which makes for far better video quailty) & less parked cars as a lot of people might be at work. Please let me know which do your prefer to see on this channel regarding village walks - Early morning or later in the day??? Or maybe a combination of both? However there is something quite magical about being out at first light, so I would say I personally prefer the mornings...
The village of Chedworth is also a civil parish in the county of Gloucestershire and part of the Cotswolds. Chedworth has a little stream which is self titled. Chedworth is widely known for the remains of a Roman villa, which is about 1,700 years old. St Andrew is the parish church. The local pub in the village is the Seven Tuns which is a grade II listed building.

That little fountain outside the Seven Tuns, the sound of rushing water at 11:39, the little stream by the street side at 18:15, the sheep!! at 20:18, the glow of the trees and buildings in the afternoon sun...I have to say, the clear afternoons are a strong contender. I love this walk. Thanks OAAW
Hi Michael. Good to hear you enjoyed this one. I still think the early mornings are my favourite time of day to film but having said that I really don’t mind getting some afternoon walks in too. Did you spot the OAAW logo within the video? Hope your week has got off to a good start. Thanks for watching. OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking Thank you. Llikewise I hope you have a great week ahead also. You know, I wondered if perhaps there was a hidden like & comment hidden as in the last video, but since I watched on my phone, I couldn't really see too much detail.
For 24 minutes I was walking in Glorious Cotswold landscape. No stress, nothing to learn, no work to do, just sheer delight and relaxation. Thank you.

Nice walk, as always ... I'm for early, very early morning walks ... Nothing compares with the atmosphere of the dawn in the Cotswolds ... TY!
Hello. Lovely to hear from you. You will be pleased to know that there is another early morning walk coming soon (hopefully midweek) and maybe one of the best walks yet! OAAW

Brilliant. Carry on and you can look across the valley to the other half of Chedworth. Stunning.

If I could find a village in America where I am, that looked like those in your videos, I would move there....but they are not common here. I wish they were. The villages and countryside where you are is so peaceful and beautiful.
Are the villages that you do have of a similar style? Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching. OAAW
@Out and about Walking No, not really similar at all. The stone look is not used on the buildings, nor are stone walls used much, and definitely no thatch roofing. I think the only place in America that could possibly have any similarity to where you are, would be in the New England states in the northeast area of America....and even there, they don't have many villages, but more homes in neighborhoods. I love the tranquility and peaceful area where you are. It feels nice and safe too.
@@risa4781 ah right, I see, thanks for clearing that up. I have to say, it amazes me how well known the ‘Cotswolds’ seem to be in America. Ironically tho, I enjoy watching American walking tours, especially night rain walks in New York, helps me 😴. Thanks again. OAAW
@Out and about Walking That's interesting. You must like the city environment sometimes. I enjoy the rain videos as well. They help me sleep also. I live in Florida, and we get a lot of rain and thunderstorms in the summers.
@@risa4781 yeah, I like the ambience of cities in the rain and really love the reflections that occur. I think rain walk videos are the best regardless of where they are filmed :) Before I took up making walking videos it seemed to rain all the time in the UK but for the last 6 months it has seemed so dry by comparison. Ah, Florida...the home of the Everglades & Miami. I have previously seen videos of thunderstorms in Florida, they sure are on another level! Really intense!
I thought Cheshire roads resembled the lunar surface until I watched todays videos of the Cotswolds village.. Both areas high community charge, so what are the local authorities excuses for not making repairs? I notice from your videos most of the villages do not have street lighting which is nice for the ambience and keeping in historical context, but that must mean its quite a dangerous task to be driving on those roads after dark...The "mill pond"? overflow opposite the Seven Tuns public house must make that downhill stretch quite dangerous when it freezes...
The roads seem to be getting worse everywhere each winter. I think in Holland or somewhere abroad they build their roads out of recycled plastic or some sort of recycled material and guess what? No potholes at all! And speaking of which...potholes on dark roads even deadlier. The water on the road outside the pub was far more icy than it looked, twice I nearly slipped over. Thanks for watching. OAAW
