Love your channel! Thanks!!! I too have an Acinfity tent, heat mat, etc. and have had a few figs that have leaved out before producing roots. I've found that if I up the humidity when this happens (90%) that it keeps the cuttings leaves from drying out and shriveling up before the cutting produces roots. I use lots of perlite in my soil mix, and have the top ~1/2 inch straight perlite to keep the fungus knats away. If you pack a medium around your cups, you can still see the roots if you use two cups. You can lift the inner cup out easily to see what is going on.

Yes I love the secondary cup to darken out the clear ones. I love checking for roots daily… LOL

Fig Cuttings: according to the "Millenium Gardener" you should keep your cuttings un the dark until you get some roots or top growth. If you put them under light early it will promote top growth before roots. Your daughters are so cute. Love your channel. Guy

Brother ive been rooting cuttings for several years now and I'm gonna tell you a little secret that goes against everything you've been told here it is, as soon as I put fig cuttings in soil I put them under grow lights without roots or leaves and I very seldom lose a cutting. I've found that when a cutting gets leaves first it encourages root growth as long as its under enough light. You might not believe me but I have not lost a cutting this year and I've rooted 67 so far. Take from this what you want but you should give a try and go against the grain and the whole myth of cuttings die if they gets leaves first. Good luck

That was your best video my friend. You're starting to make me consider a grow tent.

This is my 1st year growing in a tent. I found some of the more exotic cuttings I have do not prefer the high humidity. Some of the plants have fungle diseases on the leaves. I don't use humidifier in there and it still stays 70 plus percent when it's closed. I'm forced to leave it open now and it's around 55 to 60% humidity. All the cold hearty trees have no problem though. I've never had those problems at room temperature no matter what the humidity.

Fungal disease!? How did that happen!? My tent is currently set to 65% humidity and 80 degrees now.

      @@basementfigs 2 different varieties.
2 martinica Ramada and 2 golden riverside. All other varieties look fine and there are dozens. . I also have 4 Smith cuttings. They've only been in there for about a week and a 1/2. Is all 4 developed a white fungus underneath the parafilm. I removed the paraffilm and sprayed them with hydrogen peroxide. A fungus seems to have gone but I don't know if the cuttings are good anymore.
Is there any place I can send you an image.

I just looked it up. It says it's caused by inconsistent watering and lack of water at the roots coupled by light. Well it has plenty of light but the watering has been the same for all of them. I started those in tree pots not in cups or fig pops.

Great video👌 I am rooting my cutting right now , what is not the best time since winter is comming. Can I grow them in tent with artificial light for next 7 months till april , when spring comes?

Yea my advice is low light so you don’t grow out your grow tent

Goodmorning Homer, I am enjoying your grow tent series and I am following along. I am at the stage where my figs are soaking in water, but you did not say if the light should be on or off in grow tent. Please let me know Thanks for the series

Off would be best. Don’t need a lot of water on the bottom. Maybe a inch. And be vigilant about changing the water when it starts to get cloudy.

I can't understand why you want to make it so complicated. I root hundreds of cuttings without any type of grow tent, and just turn down the thermostat on your heat mat. Keep it simple.

I concur! Simple is the best technique. Doesn’t make interesting content though.
