Trails as a whole has saved me from drug adding, suicide, school bullies, soul crushing job, stage five brain cancer, and even brought me back to life after having my head cut off and body chopped into 50,000 seperate pieces. Thanks trails.
One thing I absolutely love about the trails series in general is how despite it all being one long continuous storyline each cast is allowed to shine on their own. You can have call backs and old characters returning, and seeing how they've changed is always fun to see, but seeing how they bounce off the new characters is always a treat
I had a blast playing this game on release. I could go on forever about how Van might be my favorite protag even outside of trails, how the villains are probably the best among all of trails and how bloody epic the last fight was lol. And what about the music, the companions, and even the combat system? I'll admit I'm still not sure about the real-time action part they introduced in kuro -- I think I'd prefer the system used in Reveries -- but suffice it to say I love the series to bit lol! Happy to see you liked it too!
People say the time travel takes away the stakes but I think the opposite, trails hasn't had a great track record with fake out deaths. The time travel actually allows the villains to be a threat and only thwarted by cheats. I still think Zero and Ao did it best, but if it was polished more this could have easily been the best. It's still amazing imo
im in tears someone who finally understands i felt all the love you had for the game in one video that it made me smile throughout the video this is a great video thank you
Finished kuro 2 just 2 weeks ago, Nemeth Island is crazy good. Arc 3's motivation is very forced for me, the possible timeline due to erosion is just to give more depths to the characters, but the fact that they don't talk but immediately just go for the kill first is what makes it bad in terms of writing. So far in trails, we never just take out weapons and start killing without trying to talk first, in sky we talked to ouroboros before we fight, even against Joachim, a D:G cult, lloyd talks first. But in Arc 3, it's weapons first, the saving grace for this long chapter for me is that I got to talk to all the NPCs and progressively invested in their plots more than the main plot for Arc 3. Hope for Kuro 3 in 2024/2025
**Spolier warning if not played the game** That intermission sequence about Renne is one of the most memorable scenes in all of Trails. I knew right away where I was once I first entered that area on Nemeth island and saw those three graves. Of course Paradise would be on a tropical island.
That nemeth island arc was probably the best arc in the entire series. Act 3 dropped in quality severely but mainly because of the absence of Swin and Nadia and also Harwood was goated as the antagonist. Couldn't give 2 shits about garden master or his reveal. But overall this game was still ridiculously good so I can't really complain that much. Can't wait for kuro 3
Act 3 for me was more of a slow to start act within the series but it was still really good imo especially towards the end and those last parts of route f, just overall not as good as the previous acts like you said, but I still really enjoyed it, but yeah Kuro 2 fr did everything I could've wanted out of it need a Kuro 3 trailer expeditiously
@@myriadbIades what really annoyed me in Act 3 was when we were collecting the genesis but everytime we died and time leaped to a different route, we still "somehow" ended up with the genesis' from the other routes/timelines as well even though that specific event never happened in the current route/timeline. They never gave any good explanation for that bs, the only thing we got was Agnes saying "getting the other genesis we don't even remember getting" 🗿
@@valk5041 I'm p sure that when they rewinded back they traveled back in time they took that genesis with them since Aaron does say during route f that when they had all of them in the office that they took them back with them as they traveled back so I'm p sure that once they acquire one they just travel back with it, since they do at first question whether its them physically going back or just their memories of those events so it kinda just confirms that imo
@@myriadbIades I guess that's fair. My viewpoint of time travel is just completely different because I've watched steins gate too many times so them time leaping back with the genesis by erasing the cause but still somehow maintaining the effect just threw me off 😂
ahh, one major difference in combat you left out is the ability to move each turn without using the turn up, similar to Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Im playing Kuro 1 currently and really can say the combat is quite different than the past games. very refreshing.
I'm in endgame for Kuro 2 and I was paranoid through out the whole game, still paranoid! Kind of bites seeing some of my favs die so many times. I can just imagine the trauma they have to endure. Other than that, it's a fantastic game, I really enjoyed the intermission in this game, it definitely beats MWL.
Gameplay wise amazing. Story wise it's starts good, Nemeth island was amazing but Act 3 was meh even though it started out good but fumbled it in middle. The end was great overall I'd give it an 8/10, 10/10 for gameplay but a 6.5/10 for the story.
good video. Intresting to see the game from this perspective. Because imo Crimson Sin was jumping around between having some of the best and some of the worst moments in the entire series constantly. It was very hard to rate for me. Specially Act 3 for me was a huge dip in quality, even though at the end of the Day I do enjoy the game.
I also can not wait to play this game. After I finish Cold Steel. But this year will be an Ys year. I just have like 2 and a half games to go. I preordered Kuro 1 already and will hopefully have so much fun with it. Can't wait. I am glad you had a good time with Kuro 2. I just want to enjoy these games for what they are and have a good time. I do not care what other people think here. I liked every game so far. Even the controversial ones. I also hope I can enjoy Ys to the fullest. Almost all of the games have been really great so far. I really want to play Ys 7 soon. I hope I can get to it.
1:05 Bro did Van learn from fucking Squall with that fucking Blazing Zone????? Now I eargely await both Kuro 1 and 2 being officially released. Seeing the gameplay on screen and hearing what you described sounds very intriguing, because aside from all the bugs and translation errors Reverie had, I hold that as the best game in the series. So I'ma put the video on hold til god knows how long and come back to this and see whether or not what you were cooking was true or not.
You know what's funny about this? One of my friends that played the game said this exact same thing about Azure Sky Afterglow looking like Blazing Zone
It took me 6 long, grueling months but I've finally finished every single game from Sky FC to Crimson Sin and I can say I've never been happier with a time investment. That being said, Crimson Sin may actually be Falcom's first stumble. A minor stumble, to be sure (the game itself is still very, very good), but usually they never miss when it comes to story. Crimson Sin starts incredible, but things wind down to a slog by the time Chapter 3 comes around and never quite finds itself again, even if there are plenty of great story beats and implications sprinkled here and there. And of course, the emotional moments down the ending stretch are peak Trails and got me choked up as much as any other game in the series. I'm just surprised to see a 2nd entry in the arc be so light on digging into lore. It really feels more like a sort of Kuro 1.5 rather than a true 2 (just look how batshit insane SC, Azure, and CS2 were), if that makes any sense. It's also very short. I clocked in around 45 hours by the time the credits rolled. Don't get me wrong, had a ton of fun, and I absolutely adore the characters (they are by far the best part of the game, and are probably my favorite crew in the entire franchise, outdoing the SSS).
Kuro2 imo is one of the most boring Kiseki games with mediocre placed time loop events where they do it out of nowhere just to make use of the mechanic. The biggest flaw was that the best time loops were at the beginning and at the end of the game, everything else in-between felt flat, unmemorable, repetitive and pointless. I completed Sen1+2 multiple times waiting for Sen3 no problem. I played Sen3 multiple times waiting for Sen4 no problem, repeated the same thing all the way up until Kuro2. I just finished my 3rd playthrough of Kuro1 easily then tried to move on to my 2nd playthrough of Kuro2, but I simply couldn't. I ditched my 2nd playthrough of Kuro2 at the intermission (despite how good it is) the moment my Kai package arrived at my door Now I'm at the end of Chapter 1 of only Van's route in Kai and so far I'm enjoying it way more than the chore that was trying to stomach Kuro2's plot a second time
@@Numair621 Yeah the only things I mention regarding Kuro 1 is that I say Van has "internal problems" and that the destruction of Almata happens but you can guess that's gonna happen anyway trust me I kept Kuro 1 spoilers to an absolute minimum for just this situation
