And the decision to localize Nayuta and 2 Crossbell games is not exactly a bad decision but...is really holding back the localization, If not We would be getting Reverie this year and Kuro in 2023, and Kuro 2 end of 2023 or early 2024 For Sure

    • @Thuxo
      @Thuxo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It would be a sin not to localize Crossbell though

Falcom is a very old rooted company who seems to be anchored in the old way of doing thing and they dosn't seems very interested on expanding their company to the west . At least they have worked quite a lot to modernise their games. At the end of the day dosn't really matter for real fans since we get the community translation who are solid 10s imo.

it's because they don't want to abandon their quirk, which is they allow their developers to make changes to games until the day before release in Japan.

I've only recently got into this series and I am absolutely in love with it. As a console gamer I jumped in with the Cold Steel Series having played and completed CS1 and CS2. I'm now playing Trails from Zero to keep to the timeline and plan to continue on with Azure then CS3 and CS4. It's my hope we console gamers will see the Liberl arc hit PS4/PS5. Until then I have a lot of catching up to do and loving every minute of it.

I can confirm that kuro no kiseki 1 is going to be released in 2024 ... lol

Nowdays that's kinda of simple,And I think the situation is way better, It's kinda of a miracle or a kiseki, Those 4 announcements at same time we got it from 2 Crossbell games, Nayuta and Reverie it's absolutely incredible and makes a lot of sense that this goes until 2023,after all the script of those games compared to persona 5 is like a joke

The reason why Ys IX released in the west only 4 months after the JP release is because of the miniscule amount of text in Ys compared to your average Trails game. A trails game usually has almost as many words in it as the entire Harry Potter book series. Not to mention that Falcom doesn't provide the script to the localization team so they can start working on it until after the game was released in Japan. And with the last couple years of Falcom releasing a Trails game almost every year, it makes sense that we've fallen behind.
Next year's Falcom game is going to be a Ys game, so that'll help us close the gap. Plus NISA has been great at giving us high quality translations and have helped advertise the series so that more people know about and buy these games. So the only thing we can do is hope that Falcom takes a break from Trails and releases some non-Trails games so we can catch up, or that the series becomes so big in the West that Falcom has no choice but to give the script to the localizers early.

I vote for the later option.
Your explanation makes sense but that does little to quell my searing rage and resonant sadness 🤡
I pray the series gets more exposure and they have more localization teams work on the older games as well for consoles

@@RatedRPG By the way, I noticed an error in your video. Ys IX did not receive a worldwide release 4 months after the JP release. It did receive a Chinese and Korean localization 5 months after (JP release was September 2019, and CN/KR release was February 2020), but we didn't get an English release until February 2021, which is 1 year and 4 months later. I didn't know the exact dates before making my comment, but now that I looked it up, just wanted to make you aware of it.

While your argument that the "game have a lot of words" is pretty and "make sense" until it does not make sense at all.
You're saying that a company with dozens of people working on the localization need two entire years just to translate a game and you find it normal? You know that 2 years is pretty much half the time that some companies CREATE a game with dozens of languages available with some of them having VOICE ACTING, right?
And what about the games that already had translations done by the fans that (said company acquired those guys The Geofront, by the way) will only arrive until 1 to 2 years anyway?????
I'm so sick of these "fans" that love being the second audience, gotta love those.

    • @OJvdH
      @OJvdH 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@GhOsThPk first of all nor falcom nor nisa are big companies they don't have dozens of employees to work on localizations(if you pay atention during the credits you might notice this because the va credits are way longer than the devolloper/location credits) . And even if they had a bigger team it would take insanely long to translate becouse as someone already mentioned one trails game has more words than the entire harry potter series believe me you don't translate that in a year. The best comperison is persona 5 royal wich took have a year to translate and even than they got the script in advance and most of the game was already translated becouse of persona5 vanilla. So something like trails obviously takes way longer.
Second nisa is curently making custom builds of trails from zero, trails to azure and trails in to reverie for both pc and switch because both of those versions do not exist yet(unless you count cloud leopards pc ports wich nisa doesn't have access to and are terrible from what i have heard ). Both those versions get made by ph3 gmba a realy small porting studio with a really high quality standard. Since they need to make both versions from scratch that tends to take long. And since nisa wants all versions to release simultaneously (unlike cold steel 3, 4 and the last two ys games wich released on ps4 first) they need time to make the switch and pc ports.
Third its not as if nisa can straight up copy paste the geofront translation. They need to re read the text Change things that don't hold up and on top of that add the content of the kai version wich geofront never translated. Unlike some people seem to think the geofront translation wasn't perfect and nisa needs to remove those minor and rare big translation errors before they can release the game.
Forth do you remember what happend with trails in the sky sc during its localization? Becouse I do someone allmost committed suicide becouse of overworking while translating that game. I don't whant that to ever happen again and I gladly wait until 2029 for the next trails game if that would insure a healthy work environment for the localization team.

    Falcon doesn’t like localizing games.
Nis America is why the games were localized.
Well Trails of Cold Steel 3, and 4.
Another Nis company localized Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure but that company didn’t bother putting those two games in English unfortunately.
It’s surprising that Nis Company put Reverie in English.
Thankfully Nis America is localizing Trails through daybreak.

the staggered release thing is definitely annoying, im glad more and more japanese companies are doing global releases!

it's because Falcom has odd business practices. for one thing, they don't license out their games for localization until after the game is out in Japan. Why? because they have a quirk in their business practice. They allow their developers to make changes up until the day before release in Japan.

Option 1 : Clouded Leopard Entertainment(CLE) could possibly give us a halfass basic subbed translation really fast , they are often teasing on their twitter....
Option 2 :NISA is slow but have quality translation with VA for modern games.
Both option are painful ... that's why I buy the Japanese version of the game and play it with a OCR software, then replay it with the Zerofield overlay when it's out cuz I'm that impatient. I'll totally buy them once it's officially localized and platinum it again.
The only solution I can think off is that Falcom translate the game "In house" while in production because we know that they change text till the end of production. But they keep saying that they are too shortstaff to handle that.

Clouded Leopard releasing a Asia version(only can be bought with account there) with english subtitles thst are Okay, is best to get it faster, then Nisa can take their time with west release for quality one

I mean they took the time to translate the game in Chinese and Korean if they truly wanted they could have done it for English in parallel too. They could have handed kuro to another company since Nisa is too busy right now.

I decided to just say fuck it and buy the game's Japanese releases anyway. I can get enough entertainment from the game raw and play the game again via New Game+ once the spreadsheet comes out. Which I've done with Kuro 1 already. (I haven't for Reverie since I felt like the raw experience was enough for me. Plus with so many games releasing in 2022-2023 I can just wait for the localization there)

It would be a lot faster if they just gave up on the english dub and stopped rewriting half of the jokes..
