You don't need balanced cables for a little studio setup. This is more for pro gear that requires it or if your having a setup were its more like 100ft of cables so for something like 10 feet forget it save your cash or it doesn't matter wont make a difference
IMO, Presonus are the best ones to go for, I've seen multiple video reviews on them and in all honesty they offer the best approach to mixing and mastering because of their crisp mid and high range quality, the bass is not too overwhelming but is still punchy and noticeable. The M Audio's pack a punch in the low end but the mids and highs were really lacking in clarity.
i have such from presonus and after a short time does the mainbox come up with propblems such as audio cut off and there is nothing wrong with the cables but more surely something inside is gone by by hahaha so these here presentet by Edward , these will be my new ones unless they are not neutral enough which you Edward please tell me by a coment before i go for em ....anyway i do mostly mix with studio ear speakers but sometimes you need to listen to your musik by some bixes like these and i realy encourage all to do so....you will be suprised how many ideas come up in your head like a headeck hahaha sometimes .
Interestingly, here in my country PreSonus Eris E4.5 or even this E3.5 is slightly more expensive then the M-Audio's...In fact, E3.5 is 192 USD and the BX4 is 184 USD but the E4.5 is 290 USD which is actually has the same size woofer and tweeter. Oh and none of them are BT models btw. Strange. But honestly I'm not sure if there is any big difference between those two 4.5 inch models that worth 100 USD?

I have a new pair of this bx4 and it takes a time (around 5 seconds to start), and it seeems that the monitors enters a standby mode when im not listening, when I hit play (like a youtube video) it takes a time (5 seconds or more to make sound) is than normal or I have a defective pair? sorry for my bad english
These studio monitors have a sleep mode. If you don't use them for a while, the shutoff, then you have to wait a bit for them to start up again when you want to use them.

I was scared of some malfunction with this sleep mode, amazing monitors for my bedroom, I have a pair of mackie mr5 mk2 in my home studio, and this little guys holds up very well against them! anyway, thanks for the fast response, love your videos!
save and get the presonus e5. it will be worth it, the sub 5 inch monitors are all very cheaply made, even the presonus have known quality issues. you will get best long-term bang for your buck this way.

I would go for either the Audio Technica AT2020 or the AKG P120... Note, both of these require an audio interface to function. If you can't get an audio interface, best USB option is the AT2020+
If you can get the Audio Technica 2035, it will be a way better decision. If you're just starting out, the at2020 will do. Don't buy the USB ones, they are a better option for podcasters a not music production, for various reasons.

Hello anybody, I am considering buying these to play a Roland synthesiser through and use the awesome onboard organ sounds. I am wondering if these would be sufficient enough? I can go directly into these with the 6.5mm to RCA cables I believe. Or I could plug these into my audio interface to see how everything sounds if I’m recording stuff. What ya think? Do you think these are good enough? I have a very small room so I can’t have anything too loud or the neighbours will probably be unhappy and I would also not want to damage my hearing after all. So are they going to be good enough for pipe organ, orchestral sound, synth and drums? And bass? I hope so. About to order them.
These and Edifier MR4 are only 15$ more expensive where I'm at vs Presonus. Should I get these, Edifier or Presonus? I don't mix, but I do enjoy the good sound. I have Edifier R2000DB in my other apartment but those are way 2 big.

I'm not sure why M-Audio went down from 5" BX5's to this 4.5" except for cost reduction. I refuse to buy anything less than 5".i have the bx5 d2 and would rather have the D3s.
Im interested in using on my works Laptop, it would be quite easy to split the 3.5mm jack output from the Laptop to the 5mm input on these speakers i presume? ( 3.5mm Stereo Jack Plug to 6.35mm TRS Balanced Plug Cable OR 3.5mm to RCA )
You can easily do so if you are simply using it for music listening , movies or gaming . However , if you are recording , You'll definitely need an audio interface .
The only thing i do not like.. Is, You have to connect one Monitor to the other.. Which is why i like the KRK and JBL, because each Monitor has it's own individual power.

I do music scores, but i only use regular headphones 🤣. most directors/ producers/ editors love my scores, but they hate my mixes 😂. i tried the bx4 because they're cheap and it worked wonders for me. However most of my colleagues are still pushing me to get the industry standard presonus krks etc

I'm very disappointed with the music you play through it for demo purposes. It's too weak. I'm a musician that plays rock n roll and does my own mixing and I cannot tell at all, from this demo, if these speakers can reproduce a heavy rhythm with drums and bass guitar. But I'm sure they can. I bought Mackie crx 3's and they kick butt. Lastly, recommendations for this type of gear don't matter too much. It's best to just follow your own personal preference and match up components that sound good to you.

M-Audio is not an impressive brand. Their monitors sound shitty, their audio interface sometimes stops working, their midi controllers are difficult to map.
Do not buy M-audio BX4, it is the bad speakers I have had so far. It will start buzzling, especially in low ends. Will start power off mainly active speaker, have to switch it off - on several times to get it work again. Kind of headache. And it is not a studio monitor, but Multimedia reference monitors. Buy at least studio monitors, which have XLR, balanced Jack input on each speaker.
Repeating 101 times that these babies are STUDIO monitors -- does not make them studio monitors, unfortunately. These are NOT studio monitors, They do not even have a balanced XLR input, for crying out loud. But they are great computer or PC monitors, which is why I got a pair. They are, however, NOT proper studio monitors. Don't be fooled.
My 8" KEF floor monitors don't have balanced XLR inputs either. That's because they're passive units. But they're still studio monitors. What matters is how the monitors perform, regardless of connection type.

M-Audio is not an impressive brand. Their monitors sound shitty, their audio interface sometimes stops working, their midi controllers are difficult to map.

Do not buy M-audio BX4, it is the bad speakers I have had so far. It will start buzzling, especially in low ends. Will start power off mainly active speaker, have to switch it off - on several times to get it work again. Kind of headache. And it is not a studio monitor, but Multimedia reference monitors. Buy at least studio monitors, which have XLR, balanced Jack input on each speaker.

Repeating 101 times that these babies are STUDIO monitors -- does not make them studio monitors, unfortunately. These are NOT studio monitors, They do not even have a balanced XLR input, for crying out loud. But they are great computer or PC monitors, which is why I got a pair. They are, however, NOT proper studio monitors. Don't be fooled.
My 8" KEF floor monitors don't have balanced XLR inputs either. That's because they're passive units. But they're still studio monitors. What matters is how the monitors perform, regardless of connection type.
