- A very simple fortress farm that relies on fortress mobs pushing each other into portals. Serves as an upgrade to the Instant Wither Skeleton Farm. This video addresses many common errors and questions. *I believe this farm works for Java 1.16.4+.

NOTES
0:42 If you are *upgrading the instant wither skeleton farm*, you can reuse most of the existing spawn platform at the same y level. The overworld bridge can probably be reused, and you should add the roof over the bridge to protect blazes from rain. Completely rebuild the player station.
1:40 Some modified servers like PAPER or SPIGOT have a setting to change the hard despawn radius from the default 128 blocks, often to 96 blocks. Ask the admin to change the setting back to 128, or lower the player station by the corresponding amount (e.g., lower by 128-96 = 32 blocks).
3:30 Some modified servers like PAPER or SPIGOT will limit processing of mobs in dimensions that have no players, so this will require a second player to be near the overworld bridge in order for the farm to work. Alternatively, move the killing chamber to the overworld if you wish to commit to a 2-player farm.
4:10 If the storage system fills up, the filtering system will break. Completely empty all hoppers and droppers to fix.

9:57 The world spawn is where compasses point towards by default. Spawn chunks are the 19x19 chunks that surround the world spawn, which is in the middle.
10:53 Breeding 12 wolves , starting from 2 wolves at full health and 137 meat:
1) Breed wolves 1&2, and feed the pup 13 meat.
2) When the pup grows up (in 5 min), breed wolves 1&2 again. When the pup grows up (in 1 min), breed wolves 3&4, and feed the pup 14 meat.
3) When the pup grows up (in 4 min), breed wolves 1&2 again, and feed the pup 32 meat.
4) When the pup grows up (in 1 min), breed all 4 wolves, and feed the 2 pups 13 meat each.
5) When the pups grow up (in 5 min), breed all 8 wolves to make 4 pups. Consider whether you want extra wolves in case of problems.
12:05 Players load the destination dimension for 15 secs when going through a portal, even if the player teleports away within those 15 secs. As a result, the TNT may finish exploding without the need for a junk item to be thrown into the portal, which is why both junk items are recovered in this example.
12:13 Breaking the obsidian frame will also deactivate the portal.
13:32 If you have my Instant Shulker Farm , there is a bug in Minecraft that can make it behave like a mob switch. Check the description of that video to learn about the fix.

22:54 The portal may sometimes generate in a deep cave or in the sky over the ocean. Either way, you still need to follow the same instructions: Break the portal that you arrived in, and work your way to the desired coordinates (by digging a staircase up to the surface, or falling into the ocean) to build a scaffolding tower.
26:44 An alternate route for the second player to reach this AFK location is to use the killing chamber portal, but it can be dangerous depending on whether there are distant overworld players to force mobs on the bridge to despawn. If you take this route, make sure that the other player stands next to the iron door while the second player is getting into place, so that mobs do not spawn in the farm and teleport to the bridge while the second player is getting into place. And make sure that the iron door and gate at the bridge are both closed before starting up the farm.
27:05 Baby zombie piglins can run under the floating slabs and crowd near the turtle egg without despawning. The extra slabs direct the baby zombie piglins to instead run into the portal.
27:18 This spawnproofing eliminates the extremely improbable possibility of a ghast spawning here and flying all the way up to attack the player.

By far the best Minecraft tutorial channel on TH-cam. Not stealing designs, giving credit where necessary, linking videos of other channels that may be helpful, updating the description for every Minecraft update, answers queries on his Discord and in the comments.

In the last year I built 12 of your Minecraft Elegance farms, and tested them cumulatively for thousands of hours. Even if I'm playing since Minecraft was released, I never encountered so much quality content. Non only your farms have always the best effort/gain ratio, but are also very easy to build and very productive in general. On top of this, you're a great teacher. Your videos always cover all the most common potential issues and give enough information to make variants or adaptations (but paradoxically it's almost impossible to improve those farms). I'm sincerely amazed.

TIP: DON"T!!! light the soul sand fires until JUST BEFORE you go to use the farm for the first time. If you have an unfortunate accident like I did you risk losing all of your non-stackable items; such as weapons, tools, armor, elytra etc. (Luckily a couple of mobs picked up my armor, elytra and good sword. I was able to put the fires out and then deal with them.)

The Minecraft Elegance farm series never fails to amaze me with it's simplicity and efficiency.
I built this farm the other day and it did not go smoothly. Biggest issue was dying to a wither skeleton after backing into him while invisible. I lost basically everything so I went into creative to finish the platform set up.
I have some suggestions for your future tutorials Ian. Build the farms in survival so the difficulty/ survivor centric advice you state is much better communicated. Also when you fly it disconnects us from the tutorial and makes a step we cannot replicate. For materials lists and such, give them per component of the build, I.e for the spawning platform what exactly do we need, for the afk platform, etc.. It is super helpful especially pre shulkers (but even then) because inventory management is really hard when there is a big materials list and it would make building it much easier if we know exactly what we need on hand.
Farm works great though.

I literally just built the instant wither farm last night too lol. I didn't have any turtle eggs but the zombie piglins weren't slowing down skeleton spawns much anyway, and the extra gold drops were nice. I did have a pathing issue at first since the spawn platform was built entirely underground, but digging out a few extra blocks around the top of the portal by the stairs fixed that. The skeletons didn't have the headroom to walk up the stairs at first, oops. Anyway, awesome new farm design and glad to see you keep working on new designs like this! Yours farms are a real lifesaver.

If I ever need any farm solution in vanilla Minecraft, this is the channel I always go to! You never fail to impress me how ridiculously easy they’re to set up, but still so brilliant! Yes there might be other farms that has higher yields, but those are often very complicated and harder to setup as they often require both more materials and time. Ian’s farms often works in different versions of Minecraft to with just minor adjustments.

It's a bit of a bummer really, makes it hard to keep playing. I either design my own farm which I absolutely know will have been done better and have vastly better rates and be easier to make by people/communities already, or just copy every best design and be doing nothing more than essnetially making a world full of other people's gameplay.

What I love about Ian’s designs are how I would go about designing a farm, but he’s already gone and done the math. I’ve often thought “why not just build a spawn platform that only keeps a certain part of the fortress within the 128 block radius,” and he’s already made a plan that does that precisely

I've been using the plain wither skeleton farm, it's good. I already have a lifetime supply of wither skulls, but I use it for bonemeal and XP now. I modified it by moving the output portal upwards, so the mobs drop further and take damage, so I don't have to hit them as many times.
I'm also working on adding a skulk farm to it.
Bro this farm is insane like the previous ones......i hope this doesn't get stolen by tutorial channels because Ian's tutorial is very in deapth and actually good, very easy to follow (i gonna build this in my world now hehe )
I built the old farm in an old world and it was great, then I built this farm in a new world and it's even better.
I love that your Elegance series focuses on farms that are attainable in the mid-game to early late-game. Oftentimes the most efficient farms requires loads of materials that often require another farm to obtain. Like traditional Wither Skeleton farms require wither roses, which requires building a wither rose farm, which requires already having enough wither skeleton skulls to spare on a wither you won't kill, AND building a mob farm to feed into it (usually endermen).
Particularly in Single-Player worlds, it just isn't necessary. I get more skulls from this farm in 30 minutes than I can realistically make use of. I don't need to spend an additional 3 hours making a faster farm.

Bruh, literally 4 hours ago i build blaze farm with spawner. This would've come in handy :D Since I already built your wither skeleton farm, there's no need for it. But it is, as always, super easy to build, compact and fast with more than enough output. You are the GOAT in this aspect of the farms.
As awesome as this is, I can only be saddened to realize I didn't know the trick with blowing up portals as you pass through them. Awesome video as always!!
It's become one of those things he does ... casually throw in several optimizations most of us never considered. Like the way he showed but didn't even comment on the nether iceway - instead of a traditional row of ice (with gaps) and fences either side ... just put the fence down the middle and row against it.
Every time I watch one of your new farm designs, I think to myself, “He can’t possibly out do himself AGAIN.” Yet, every time that is exactly what you do. Cheers.
