I’m really interested in this one. For those complaining about the price, I remember that the 839-piece Lego City 7939 Cargo Train retailed for $239 CAD in 2011. This one is currently $269 CAD and it has ~2.5 times as many pieces.
I have never had more fun building a technics model. Even during the build I was having fun speculating on how each main part was going to be deployed. The only downside was not discovered until I tried to show it off - a lot of the cool stuff is buried behind the tail panels - I wish they had designed them to open out like the front doors.
Yes will be getting one for sure. This is definitely among one of the more classic technic sets with plenty of functionality and ok looks. Lately technic is following the 1 good 1 bad set theme. Heavyduty tow truck vs Mercedes trial truck, and now helicopter vs material handler.
I totally understand. But for me, the $400 Canadian price tag is just too hard to digest. The tow truck cost half as much and I even got it for 20% discount.
i got this set for my birthday and it is amazing! the motorised functions, the gearbox, it is really fascinating how they fit a motorised gearbox in that small space
My kid wants this set for Christmas - and I mean *really* wants. He's very young for it (Just 7), but having seen this review I think we're going to go for it. As you say, it's very "old school" technic - the stuff that got me interested in the mechanical world at that age.
An amazing set indeed! I've just finished building it and I want to thank you for warning us about the weakness in the "clutch" on the winch. I found a way to make it more resistant to torque. I replaced the tan colored axle that runs through the black "wheel" and grey 16t. gear with a dark grey nr. 4 axle with stop, in such a way that the stop is wedged between the black wheel and the end of the technical pin. This gives the pin more stiffness in its rotation.
Ok but can we talk about the motor costing 10 cents in this branded set? I already love this set, seems like an absolute 10/10 and I'll definitely get it, even though I said I'd have a lego break, lol
Great! So, LEGO ceased production of the V-22 Osprey years ago because it was militarized. H175 is not just a civilian helicopter BUT also a military utility version. Maybe, LEGO needs to relook on restarting that V-22 Osprey model to be fair. I believe both would be great models together. Bring back the V-22 OSPREY!
Thanks for the amazing reviewI. think I'll get this set for christmas - finally my second Technic helicopter after 852 from 1978 which I rebuilt last christmas. Hope they release more motorized stuff in the future again like in the PF era. I also got the tow truck last year which also was a cool functional set. But I also want to buy the DeLorean Time Machine and a Stand Up Paddling Board for next year's summer holiday. So this christmas will be an expensive one. I'm happy that Lego ins bringing back Technic Sets with functions and not only display cars without functions. Now they should bring back B models out of the box.
@@Unbrickme In 1978 I was 5 years old, and we lived in Austria back then. My 12 year old brother got the Technic Heli for christmas and I got a motorized 4.5V passenger train since I was a big train fan. We lived near the main railway station and I often went "train spotting" with my dad on sundays. There was also a big department store which made a Lego competition every year before christmas with build themes for different ages. You could win of course more Lego, which was very cool. In the 80s I built a whole Lego city with trains. I had tons of the classic Legoland theme sets. I got back into Technic with the 42030 Wheel Loader in 2014 and started collecting sets of all technic ages then.
I went to the Lego store in London and I bought it impulsively and WOW it is quite complicated. Hi I’ve just built this and it’s really good but when I put the fast rotation on it works for about 5 seconds then stops, every other function works just fine?
Lol, I mainly focused on that because when I was 7 years old and built the 8043 motorized excavator, I had to partially disassemble it to align the switches with the driving rings
Has anyone else had trouble building this set??? I'm completly lost with what to do, the amount of times i've had to disassemble it is getting stupid and i'm only on bag two. I've had enough now and just dumped it back in the box.
Fantastic set! And it would be relatively easy to modify it for full remote control, just by switching out the hub. Can't wait until somebody tries the Buggy Motor Rotor Spin Test to see how much thrust the main propeller would generate, even though it would be far from flight.
Heck, maybe someone should combine this set with the 51515 robotics kit to automate the collective/cyclic pitch controls and create an autonomous helicopter or something. Unfortunately, I personally don't have the resources for that right now since I'm building the HoverShuttle for the Hydrohovership Helicarrier Hovercraft, but its just an idea if someone so chooses to adopt it.
This looks great, the only thing I don’t like about it is the neon yellow parts I personally don’t like the colour and would have preferred if it was just yellow
