From 94/95 until 2015 I used A2000 catcher mitts and went through four of them before getting an Allstar. The A2000’s definitely felt like an old glove after a few years. The Allstar from 2015 is still holding up so well that the replacement for it from 2020 is still in the break in phase. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.
I played HS baseball in the late 70’s/early 80’s with a Wilson A2000 and it never failed me. It was an awesome glove. Lost track of it when I went to college. Wish I had that glove again. I caught 1000’s of balls with that glove without failure or need to re-string. Quality is not what it used to be in lots of things.
I’ve noticed Wilson is using cheaper laces in the last few years. About the time they removed the oval logos, the laces changed too and they seem to be thinner.
My first coach gave me an a2000 ( used to call it an a2k as a kid 😅) from the 90s w the oval logo in 2002 and it last me another 10years without a hitch. Laces could be used to hold up ur pants jfc tanks fr

Chris you make great videos. I hope these Wilson and Rawlings videos serve the glove community well. My thoughts are that I agree with you on some things however I think an even greater perspective to add to this would be that of those who tear down and clean or repair hundreds of gloves every year. They have a unique perspective on what works and what lasts. Ive personally talked with a handful (azglovelab and gutsandglory to name a few) and I think its worth mentioning that both brands have taken noticeable shortcuts in recent years. I've seen professional level gloves from both brands with issues and stock lace quality for both Wilson and Rawlings is a valid complaint. Rawlings seems to be noticeably having more of a quality control issue across the board that really paints the picture that they might be putting profits over quality products (I prefer Rawlings patterns over any other brand) Especially their Rev1X that maybe was intended to be a competitor to Wilson SuperSkin yet many think of it as just a glove with planned obsolescence baked into it. Rawlings even had some noticeable issues with hide quality on their most recent Horween batch run. I personally had to return a new Horween glove due to it having defective hide. Thats just my two cents. Hope you and the family are well and look forward to more videos from you!

Back before A2Ks had super skin, you could only get it on the A2000, well I had both and the A2k just played to heavy in the outfield, and I preferred my A2000 with SS, just for my style of play better
I have been using a 1786 a2000 for two years (starting season three now) and have had to keep an eye on the same issue you talked about. The index finger loosened up as the glove broke in and that helped to form a nice pocket. The problem though is that it kept breaking in and loosening up. I started to get concerned that the lace attaching the index to the middle finger was going to pull through the glove because the opening the lace comes through started to show fray a little. I tightened the fingers and the pocket to take stress off that spot, but it just keeps getting loose and needs to be re-tightened every few games. I LOVE this glove, it's my favorite I've ever used, but I will be buying new laces to see if that fixes the problem.
Ive tried a A2000 recently, feels as good as HOH, the thin palm pad isn’t my thing (to each their own) but I’ve noticed gaps and flimsiness to it too. Next glove will be Rawlings or mizuno
My opinion on the why the A2000 is better than the A2K is the palm. The double palm construction in the A2K can make it harder to catch the ball in the palm. i think A2K’s are better, but A2000’s will last long still. its more of a test with Wilson’s laces. they make them thinner and looser for higher performance, but last a lot less time. Aso said this in a video before that they intentionally make their laces thinner
money is also a reason for that. Don't be fooled.
@@rickfrank7934. most people buy Rawlings laces when relacing gloves, and you dont have to buy a brand new glove when a lace breaks
What is the best glove oil to use on a a2000
No oil, just conditioner!
Use Wilson Pro Stock conditioner.
Just saw a not-super-hot groundball bust through the web of Jake Cronenworth’s A2000 trapper in the Korea series. Pretty bad look for Wilson, especially this early in the year. JC is now wearing a Rawlings mitt.
