There are various methods of making handles. I prefer coils, as they give a level of uniqueness and create a shape that looks like vines and helps to emphasize the nature theme.
In my experience its very rare that they crack and as long as i get them braided together nice and snug they won't separate. Lastly i blend the areas where they connect to the pot. In my mind this gives them an even stronger bond where they meet. I've also never had them separate from the pot after firing.
