I remember the old caviler sri130's where you could undo the panel on the box release the clip unbolt clutch change it back on the road in 30mins don't have to take the gearbox out
If your just doing just the clutch and slave the subframe doesn’t need to be touched. you can move the box enough to get the clutch out I hardly ever remove the subframe on any car unless I’m doing a flywheel or a box itself. Time is money lol!
Great video Aaron I dont have access to a ramp and have to work in yard on ground against the elements like you demonstrate so professionally here... thankyou really appreciate these videos love your content and your methodical explanations as you take us through the task iv learnt so much from you...best wishes
If your just doing the clutch you can leave the subframe on. Undo the suspension bolts to the hubs and leave it hanging from the ties... just undo 5 subframe bolts and leave the one under the drivers foot well.. gives you enough space to change the clutch, flywheel and real oil seal.
Hi live life fully - I’m doing it this way too. Just a quick question, did you bleed the clutch for air at the end of the job? If so what method, thanks
Finished this job myself last weekend, I didn't take off the subframe though 🤦🏻♂️ dropped it down one side, your way looks way easier lol any chance you could share some info on your breather set up you show in other vids? Looks the right job
I’ve just done my zafira. Pulled engine/box out from above.. new mahle rings , big ends/mains Vxr turbo . Got new drive shafts and radiator to fit on the next dry weekend!👍 . Nice one Aaron 👍
What i did was wedge the clutch pedel to the floor put a rubber pipe on the bleed nipple and connected a syringe to the other end of the pipe opened the bleed nipple suck the air out with the syringe close the bleed nipple remove the syringe keep repeating this process until the fuid comes through
3:50 Did you need to hoist the engine from the top, before removing engine/transmission mounts on the subframe? I have to do subframe replacement soon on a friend's Meriva, and I don't know if I need an engine support bar/hoist or not?
Great work as always, will be doing this and also painting subframe on my sri-t at some point on my gravel drive 😅 any tips on getting the subframe back on in the same position? I am guessing just mark and measure? This video will definitely help me out at the time so big thanks for filming this one really appreciated 🙏👍 cant wait for the next lesson 😆😁
Hi mate just got mine done GUY TOOK 4 DAYS TO DO And all i got back was problems Abs-5.3/5.4(+tc) . PSCM / ESP /SRS / ATW /MID ANY IDEA'S WHY I GOT SO MANY FAULTS THANKS BRO !
Hi mate. I'm doing an engine change in my astra coupe and just wondering how you disconnected the linkage from the gearbox. Just don't want to break anything haha
yep just done the clutches on ramps one on a BMW 123d which was hard as I didnt had enough space as everything was under the car and lifting it back up was a pain, done one in a Passat 2.0 TDI 2011 it was so easy compared to the BMW as everything was very easy accessible and big bolts
Aaron.. just a quick question mate. My Petrol 2014 Zafira b 1.8 has 118bhp. it's basically gutless I should have done my homework and gone for the 139bhp version.. what's the best way to gain more power not speed but torque?
Aaron Unknown that is way above my head 😂 I still need to fit my fmic VXR injectors and MAF 🤦♂️ as far as I know it’s the original couch with 99000 on the clock.
My clutch went soft today. Can’t change gear properly either. It just randomly did it today when I put the clutch peddle down. I felt a pop then it went soft. Fluid level is normal and no leaks under the car. It’s bone dry. Above the peddle I’ve checked the master cylinder and it’s not leaking either. Any idea Aaron? You know your stuff. It’s a z18xer engine. Zafira b.
Remove batt and tray, disconnect starter motor, slave cylinder for clutch, sensors anything attached to gearbox, support engine underneath and gearbox preferably, start undoing bolts top side of gear box and remove mount, undo bolts underneath then wrestle box out......... EASY 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I have an opel/vauxhall omega.. at the time i needed to replace the clutch and timingbelt and all that comes with it.. so i just pulled the engine and gearbox out in 1 go... needed to work on both ends and while i was at it i cleaned the engine aswell.. had some oil spill on it that started to smell.. it might be a lot more work.. but some cars are tight on space to work in.. so when its out i got tons of space..
A genius like Aaron makes anything look easy
Because its not that hard, garages are just a easy way out for most people .
I remember the old caviler sri130's where you could undo the panel on the box release the clip unbolt clutch change it back on the road in 30mins don't have to take the gearbox out
@@fargogemini694 I can easily believe it
I remember doin this on my mates driveway, good times
@@broken12367 old school better times more character to cars then
Good old school engineering

This is a good video. I've never done a zafira clutch before but it seems to have helped me alot

@omarismith3655 hiya. Only just saw this comment.i used my easi-bleed to pressure bleed it.😊
Finished this job myself last weekend, I didn't take off the subframe though 🤦🏻♂️ dropped it down one side, your way looks way easier lol any chance you could share some info on your breather set up you show in other vids? Looks the right job
That's how I did it.. just undo 5 subframe bolts....
The only video that I could find on this topic, thank you so so much 🙏
I’ve just done my zafira.
Pulled engine/box out from above.. new mahle rings , big ends/mains
Vxr turbo . Got new drive shafts and radiator to fit on the next dry weekend!👍 . Nice one Aaron 👍
Great video Aaron, great work as usual, and explained in detail 👌😀👍
I've pulled engines out of cars on my drive before a ramp makes it easy thats about it. Cant beat working on your drive way 😂😂
We want to see more of the zafira on the road!
Any chance you could do a quick video on how to bleed the clutch after fitting new clutch and slave cylinder.
What i did was wedge the clutch pedel to the floor
put a rubber pipe on the bleed nipple and connected a syringe to the other end of the pipe
opened the bleed nipple suck the air out with the syringe
close the bleed nipple remove the syringe keep repeating this process
until the fuid comes through
👍🏻 I’m surprised your OCD didn’t kick in and you didn’t repaint the gearbox

Hi mate. I'm doing an engine change in my astra coupe and just wondering how you disconnected the linkage from the gearbox. Just don't want to break anything haha
Getting blue smoke on idle and pull away on zaf gsi. Few oil.leaks in places. Wondering if you could get this sorted for me. Maybe a rebuild?
I’ve done a few myself manly v6 Vectras and a couple of zafiras 👍

Hi & good job
Greetings from Germany
I am so happy to live in the internet generation.
Another video - yessss!!!
hi there, what year is the car ?
As that subframe got a crack on the left side arron
It sounds great
The plus side when the engine is small enough to work on.
👍 video, any chance of a vectra vxr coming to the channel 🤞
On fwd do both driveshafts have to come out? Or just the gearbox side
Perfect video n1 fella
Most people jack up car get under look at rusty down pipe bolts utter "fuck that" take it to a garage 🤣
Will the C20LET clutch fit the Z20LEH ???
No lube on the input shaft Aaron?
No way dude I literally sent you an Instagram about doing this yesterday 🤣🤣
Result 🙌🏻
Spot on mate perfect cheers
We're you based I would like my clutch and dual mass done by yourself
Anyone know if standard let injectors and maf are ok for around 260bhp max ?
I wouldn’t push them past 250
Aaron Unknown thank you
Do you mark the subframe
Nice one dude
Fair play... great vid
I think Aaron should move to sunny Devon.. :)
Where’s the evo
I’m aiming for 300bhp, is the standard Z20LET clutch up to the job?
On its limits. Depends on torque level
Aaron Unknown that is way above my head 😂 I still need to fit my fmic VXR injectors and MAF 🤦♂️ as far as I know it’s the original couch with 99000 on the clock.
Id expect it to slip, swap it out for a c20let Luk
Aaron Unknown do you do private work?
Thanks for the upload, and very informative 👍
Nice video. Thanks
Ha ha cool vid, but this doesn’t look easy. More on the fiesta rs plz
So you mean to tell me i can drop the sub frame without supporting the engine/gearbox 😱😂😂😂
I'd support engine deffo
My clutch went soft today. Can’t change gear properly either. It just randomly did it today when I put the clutch peddle down. I felt a pop then it went soft. Bleed the clutch cylinder.

😂 Average punter trying that 😩😂

2 hour job for a Facebook mechanic.
do mine for me :D haha
Much easier and quicker to take the engine and box out as one. Also saves having to get the geometry done
