Ahem... Now they're using most of these Mods for the base game in Don't Starve: Newhome (not Klei). I saw the Minimap HUD and the combined status in some vids.
I don't know if someone still reads here but I like to recommend two server mods that are really great: 1. "Future Flingomatic" This mode is GREAT for everyone who likes to plan building the base. It adds a "Flingomatic dummy" to the construction tab. It costs a twig and you can set it like a flingomatic, it has the same shape and shows the range. So you can plan and build the base without any gears and when you are finally ready to build and place a real flingomatic you just hammer the dummy and place the real one in the same spot. That is just great. 2. I forgot the name but it codes the wormholes after you first travel them. All wormholes look normal when you join the game but after you traveled through the two connected wormholes are coded in the same color. Before that mode I always used plants, two evergreens, a grass tuft and two sapplings, I guess you all know that. Having them just color coded after the first travel it is just nice. I also use a few clients mods, but that has more to do with personal preference, so I just wanted to tell about those two, maybe it helps someone to enjoy the game even more! And thanks to everyone who takes the time to CREATE a mod.. I could never do that and some of them make me love that game even more, so a big thanks to those who put their knowledge, time and love in creating mods!
I used to use Wormhole Marks until they gave everyone a bunch of wormhole skins. Now you can just reskin them and it shows up on the map too. It's not quite as easy to look at as the mod but it's a vanilla solution which is nice.
Surprisingly, the Re-Gorge-Itated mod is actually more popular than ReForged in terms of page visitors and subscribers to the mod. So I figured I'd talk about ReForged first. I've also been playing that a bunch lately. But yes, both fantastic mods and it's great that we can play those game modes whenever we want to :)
WOW i missed the Gorge soooo much. I've tried to download this mod but I don't know how to get it to work :( I wish there were a video guide on it somewhere
i do find it hard to play without combined status and geometric placement. It bugs me when the structures at base are not aligned and i like being able to see how much health i have without pointing at it. You should have mentioned the status announcements mod. I use it a lot and its helpful you like being about to announce your stats in one click.
Animal variety is a cosmetic one i really enjoy and you can change it to client Also the HUDs, mouse through, bundle o top Cannot live without instant drop and less placement blocking anymore
Wormhole Icons [Fixed] - Client side mod that color code wormholes on your map and in the world when you go through them for the first time Nightmare phase indicator - Adds a nightmare phase timer to your HUD when in the caves Boss Indicators - Gives a pointer to nearby bosses that are rendered but aren't in camera view Global Pause - Allows for pausing in multiplayer Gesture Wheel - No longer will you have to /carol to waste time Craft Pot [DS, ROG, SW, DST] - Predicts your crock pot recipe with percentages on overlapping recipes
I don't know about the nightmare phase indicator. I have it installed but don't use it because it's pretty much the same as the thulecite medallion but for free. Also the pause function is useful for solo stuff but might also be a bit cheatsy. All the others are great, especially the craft pot and gesture wheel. Very handy mods.
Hi, not sure if you're still getting notifications for comments for this video or if you'll ever see this, but I'm new to DST (though not to don't starve, played hundreds of hours on my Switch), and I was really hoping to get the first mod you mentioned in the video, but when I click the link it looks like it's dead and has been removed. So do you know of any alternate ones that function the same or replaced it at all? Would really love to have that functionality and QoL....looked awesome 😢 Also, have you considered maybe doing a totally new updatedvideo regarding your must-have mods, maybe new ones or different versions of the ones shown here due to the originals being removed?
Yeah sorry it seems like the link got broken for some reason. There are a bunch of versions of this mod but this is one I'm currently using ► steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2325441848 And I've done a few more recent mod videos (I think 3 in total) but there are definitely more I could showcase.
@@DemonRebuilt Awesome, thanks so much for replying! Oh and also, I've been debating whether or not I should get the original single player version of Don't Starve for PC, since the person I play with lives in Sweden, so we don't get to play together all that often, so typically I'm playing solo. Would it be better to just go ahead and get the single player Don't Starve $20 bundle (which includes Hamlet and Shipwrecked), or should I just play alone in a private server? I mainly ask because I know that the mobs are harder to kill in Don't Starve Together, and I'm not exactly an expert at combat. I've also heard that there are supposedly mods that make DST play like its single player counterpart..... would you happen to know anything about that? Or if it's worth it to get the single player version, or merely stick with DST? Great content btw, only just came across your channel by chance earlier today, and it's always so nice to have the video creator actually reply to you when you comment with a question (and so quickly too😅)... It's why I love smaller channels so much 🥰
Thanks, I spend far too much time online! In my opinion, DST is superior to DS and the DLCs due to the sheer amount of content it has but they are very different games. I would still recommend playing SW and Hamlet if you are interested, even though you can kinda experience them with mods. The mods (like Island Adventures) have some issues and aren't 100% faithful to the originals. Idk if I would call the DS DLCs easy either. I would consider DST easier than both DLCs (not including RoG), at least for starting out, since most of the really tough stuff is optional.
@@DemonRebuilt Yeah, good call, I'll just stick with DST on my PC. And plus I mean I DO have Don't Starve ROG & Shipwrecked on my Nintendo Switch, so I'll probably just go ahead and whip that out again instead if I really wanna play proper single player. I'll just spend the money instead on unlocking the Hamlet DLC, since I never got around to getting it on Switch...I'd heard it was quite a bit more difficult and required a good bit more skill than either ROG or SW did. Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it! But ONE last thing before you go, and I promise I'll stop bugging you, lol; I'd really like to meet other players to start playing proper co-op with, make some new friends, and play with them properly by getting together on Discord voice chat while we play, instead of using that pitiful in-game chat box, lmao.😅 Would you happen to have have any suggestions of where I could go to find people who might want to get together and play properly like that? Rather than just dickin' around in random public lobbies and just periodically seeing things like "lol help I'm dead" in the server chat? I've been trying to do that, the official discord is just the Klei Discord server, And I really didn't see anyone in there who was looking for people to play with.... So yeah, just thought maybe you might have an idea on where I could look. But if not no worries! 😊 PS: sorry this turned into an essay, my B 😶🌫️
I probably would have recommended the Klei discord but even in there it can be hard to find people to play with. You're always welcome to join my discord if you like (discord.gg/demonrebuilt-244643268749557760 ). Every so often we have a dedicated server that gets fairly busy but at the very least, it's better to discuss the game than in TH-cam comments!
Should you play with mods? I never used mods on any ds game yet, I find the tediousness to be a part of the fun, but since it's tedious sometimes it gets annoying. It takes me 2 game days to plant my saplings and grass, and I do enjoy having a disadvantage in terms of the set back in time, but not so much enjoyment with lining them up. So like it just makes me question it again and I again, should I just play with mods?
The best part is that you are free to choose if you use mods or not. And for some mods, such as ReForged and Re-Gorge-itaed, it helps add back two event gamemodes that haven't been around for a while or adds a lot of challenge to the game (Uncompromising Mode comes to mind).

Play the way you enjoy more the game, that's what matters. I play with mods since I started, not only client, server too. Some that make things easier like more inventory slots. I prefer to play the game that way
I don't wanna play the bad guy but I've said this to my friend before. The "up to you" is kind of a bad answer when someone doesn't know what to do and is asking you what you think they should do (like you threw back their own questions back to them xD) Before I reply to my own comment I wanted to see more answers, and I have to say Wooly's answer is the most appropriate? but it's more of "once you get tired of this, you can try that instead"... which means... maybe I'll do it later? or something? xD I can't really consider Reforged as an actual mod personally, everyone should just install it, better yet Klei should just make it official. I kind of want to see more answers on "these mods makes the game more fun for me because of..." so I can understand or expect that I'll possibly have more fun if I install these mods. Thanks for the replies btw

@@yahallo4423 First talking about server mods: I am noob at DST, not gonna lie. There are some mods that make the game easier and more enjoyable to me, because without them I dont go far in the game. More inventory slots for example, no inventory space is so annoying. I have a mod that allows me to craft gears, and it is very good because Ice Box and Ice Flingomatic are so important, and gears are rare and hard to get. About client mods: They are cool and useful, Geometric Placement for example, allows you to plants things perfectly aligned, plantations are more organized and beautiful. I like Combined Status because it shows the season, that is cool. And it also shows your health, hunger and sanity without having to move your mouse to it. The tempeature that helps you know when you are close to die from cold or heat. Also shows you what the moon will be like. Client mods offer useful information, that dont really change your experience with the game
