    As a child of a single parent home, abused and under fed, I left the home at 16, went straight to the big city and lived on the streets for about 12 months. Ponsonby Park, Grafton Bridge and in and around Auckland Hospital was where I slept. First, id like to thank hard working White people for paying taxes so I could get a benifit..without that, im sure I would have had to do crime to feed myself. Also the Auckland City Mission, they have been there for years and did put me up when it was freezing outside. A lot of peeps on the street are in need of civil societies help, not scorn, we have enough of that inside ourselves. I did manage to pull myself out of this lifestyle and am now a tax payer myself. Good luck out there. ACSK forever.

      basant vimal sharma you have no heart a lot of these people you mention from Fiji, China, India come to New Zealand start a business and rip off their fellow countryman through slave labour and sub standard wages, that is unfortunate. Yes there are some selfish homeless people that do skirt the system because they are lazy, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore the vulnerable who have been taken advantage of.

      Alain de Botton talks about how society today is a meritocracy... people are judged on their merits/by their achievements. In past generations, people recognised (bad) luck and heredity had a lot to do with one's circumstances, and those without means were called ünfortunates". Now, people call them losers. It should be pretty obvious that society today, and in the past, has never been a level playing field...

      @basant vimal sharma Anyone can become homeless regardless of well off they are, how much savings they had or how much planning they engaged in and that arrogant attitude on you puts high on the karma list to experience exactly what the homeless live with. It doesn't matter how they got there, everyone deserves a place to call home with a roof over their head.

    Haven't been on the benefit in over 9 years but what that lady says at 8:30 is exactly how i feel with regards to winz and why they fail. Was on the dole for about a year during the recession so I had my shit experiences with Winz and was pushed by them into work that I and they knew wasn't gonna last long just so they could add another figure to their "employed" numbers.
    Winz would then have a stand down period because i left on my own terms before i could apply for the benefit again which is where for some people the financial struggles would begin, eventually leading to them being thrown on to the streets

    There’s a difference between becoming homeless & choosing to be homeless. I walk past some of these homeless people most mornings, they get high/drunk and get into fights right outside these buildings all day not bothered to get up and look for help/work.Yes winz is useless at times but they can help you get into work at least if you choose to accept the help &do the long yards , that includes going to all the appointments, job interviews and attending courses. You will eventually get there but YOU HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO STAND UP AND DO SOMETHING.

      difference? no, both are mental states...i wouldnt wish homelessness on anyone even from making bad choices or drug and alcohol addiction or a challenging upbringing that included psychological, or physical abuse....azile freedom...i would wish it on you though, you have no idea how incidents, accidents, child abuse, financial illiteracy, bad decisions affects even the most strongest individuals...you need to go through affliction and financial ruin to understand how the MIND is fragile especially when a child....even in adolescense and every person that ends up homeless was at one time BORN in a hospital but not every person recieved whats needed to survive in this cruel world even for the first five years of life.... this world can be so cruel that it would turn any person into a judgmental, self centred, unkind, unmerciful, ignorant blockhead....the misdistribution of wealth in this world is not only cruel but deliberate....wake up

      Even with a job the median house price in Auckland is $1.1million and there is a housing shortage going on. Its alot more common being homeless in this country then you think but most live in their cars waiting for a house.

      So true . No one is going to light a fire up under your butt and make you do something. No one is coming to give you a promotion. You have to be willing to do the mahi , stop complaining and grind daily.
      I was intrigued by the last lines of your comment , that is why I’m writing this.
      But I’m aware a lot that not everyone is like this. They ( some homeless) may have made wrong decisions or mentally just not equipped which is why there is plenty more that needs to be done for the less fortunate.

      There's a good chance our marae's would be used for the benefit of scrupulus bastards, maori and pakeha, so nah, its an entity to be protected, what we are experiancing is corporate, political and christian scamduggery against maori!!

    It starts with your mindset. How can a poor migrants from poor country migrate to New Zealand & Australia do so well. Because they see opportunity. How can some disable people I see at some work places aren’t homeless? Because they ignore their disabilities but go to work. I saw a courier driver with one arm turned up to work everyday. I saw a lady on a wheelchair turned up to work at a retirement village everyday. How many disable people do you know they work? There are many successful people who used to be homeless around. Well, there is nothing wrong with you, if you stop blaming others and get up, go and look for opportunity, it will come. I was in your place before, sleep in cars, boarding houses but not giving up on wanted to live in a better life. You can always turn your life around, no matter what. You can always bounce back, if you DECIDE to take action and make a change.

      I think the difference is our culture
      Us as Maori or Polynesian
      Living in a western system is like apple and orange to us
      Jobs, money, all these materialistic things, is something that we are not used to, but had to get used to it and it has changed our people
      Now, that its 20th century
      We are living like foreigners but not as own
      Not all of our people are like this, some are more successful than others
      But for others
      Especially up in the Far North
      It's a bit different

It's not being racist hits hinting immigration to prioritize important sectors! If you're going to come here and take over a kiwis entry job then you better have a good reason! That's the problem.... Cool, doctors, lawyers, fine dining restaurant staff, high important tourism and hospitality rolls, bachelor + students going into these high skill roles above those are the only rolls that should be prioritized to overseas migrants.

    I've seen so many walking around Auckland the sad effects that they suffer people walking passed them with not even a hello they are our people they might not have a house or money but they are to be loved like any normal person my heart goes out to all homeless and just keep believing there is going to be some good that happens we ain't national anymore let's do this jacinda!! She's got the heart for our country a change is coming

    • @renesimonis
      @renesimonis 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you serious about Jacinda? Yes, change is coming, we will be overrun by refugees and things will change and get a lot worse for us kiwi's.Jacinda is turning this country into a 3e world shithole.

  • @renesimonis
    @renesimonis 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    John Key got to go hahahahaha. Well, how's jacinda and labour working out for you lady? Maybe you can ask a somalie refugee for a job cleaning their house. Jacida just told us that her priority will be somalie refugees and not us kiwis.

      Bullshit, its because of National that our homeless are where they are! Labour is trying to rectify what fuckn National did 9 years in government, all they did was make the rich richer and the poor poorer!

    Your not kiwi, chap wait unitl your families been here a few generations. Winter isn't hard there compare to Central Otago or Southland. The ambient temperature is so much higher. They need to get out of town. Get away from the BS, no money but a few seeds and a set place makes a big difference

      Easy to say when you have a roof over your head, 3 square meals, people who care about you. It's hard for these people to move forward in life while worrying about how to feed themselves. But that obviously you know nothing about

      8 kids with a roof, clothes and 4 round meals a muthafckn day. I didn't get here by wading in my depression. I put my hand out and started reaching for opportunities to get my family and I outta the shit I had put us in. This BS " we need the jobs that we want" type fckn attitude isnt fckn helping. How's about, take that shit job till you can get what you really want. We can only help those who want to be helped.

    Thanks to previous governments that caused the housing crisis. The problems only going to get worse unless we fix this once and for all.
    Do it for our next generation. It's not this generations fault at all!! they're like this, yet they blame themselves when the government put them in these depressing states they can't coupe with and recover from, homelessness is all they know what to do. Give people jobs and fix the housing problem!

    Ask yourself why you are sleeping on the street while somali refugees are given nice new homes? You have to beg for food while somali refugees load up 2 shopping trolleys and use our tax money to pay for it? You walk everywhere while somali's are given a brand new car on arrival.Thank you jacinda and peter for putting somali's first and Kiwi's second. 715 million dollar in aid for afrika while our people sleep on the street! We should not give one dollar of our tax money to any other country as long as there is one Kiwi in need!

    to azilefreedom...difference? no, both are mental states...i wouldnt wish homelessness on anyone even from making bad choices or drug and alcohol addiction or a challenging upbringing that included psychological, or physical abuse....azile freedom...i would wish it on you though, you have no idea how incidents, accidents, child abuse, financial illiteracy, bad decisions affects even the most strongest individuals...you need to go through affliction and financial ruin to understand how the MIND is fragile especially when a child....even in adolescense and every person that ends up homeless was at one time BORN in a hospital but not every person recieved whats needed to survive in this cruel world even for the first five years of life.... this world can be so cruel that it would turn any person into a judgmental, self centred, unkind, unmerciful, ignorant blockhead....the misdistribution of wealth in this world is not only cruel but deliberate....wake up
