Thanks a lot !!! It's such a pleasure to hear your feelings about each song. (I'm french so i try to understand all what you're saying 😅). I discovered Grandaddy with this album, it was such a (great) musical shock : sensibility, melancholy, powerness, ...and this voice, singing. 2025 is starting good.
Awesome ‘review’ or listening party I should say haha! It’s great to hear your own views and what the songs mean to you. It actually then allows me/us to see the album in a new way. Grandaddy just feel so comforting to me and they always conjure up images of the woods and nature in my mind. But in such a powerful way that is just beautiful. Like Lytle’s love of nature just pours straight into the music and you don’t even need vocals to feel it. And I think they are a band that automatically attract nature lovers.
Aw! Thank you so much!!! It really means a lot to hear this! I think you hit the nail on the head regarding nature lovers being drawn to Grandaddy music and feeling the appreciation of nature’s beauty in the music. 💥🔨🌲💗🎶 Just, could not agree more! 🙌🏼 Also, the part about hearing the album in a new way makes me so happy as that was 100% one of my goals in creating this channel. Whether folks are revisiting songs or maybe hearing them for the first time, I wanted to carve out a little corner where people can stop by for some food for thought as they navigate their way down the Grandaddy rabbit hole. 🕳️🐇✨🍲🙏🏼
I have a question about Nonphenomenal Lineage. To me it sounds like its opening was reproduced in this short track th-cam.com/video/5_w-fMsNJao/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=DuranDuran-Topic maybe both are inspired by something else. Has anyone else noticed? Maybe it's just me and nobody else hears any similarity...
Whoa! Great find! I can def hear the similarities! Thank you for sharing 😊 Also, hi Luna Lui! I recognize your name from Jason’s livestreams 🫶🏼 Hope you’re well!
@@NOWITSONLISTENINGPARTY Thanks for your reply, Melissa! I also recognise you from the GooDs and hope you, too, are fine. btw, lovely little creek you have there! Is that Florida?
i enjoyed this review, although I don't enjoy Grandaddy's first album as much as you do. They try a bit too hard, in my opinion, to sound weird and different and for me the songs are a bit average, except perhaps AM180. About the cover, I always thought this was a nod to Pink Floyd and their video for High Hopes. The second album, now that's a killer, obviously.
