- Coachella, one of the biggest music and arts festivals in the United States, has recently been host to virtual talents such as Hatsune Miku. Kiara, mulling on how much of an honor it would be to sing your songs on stage, sees a future where Mori Calliope, her genmate in Hololive Myth and singer/songwriter, will perform there one day. Unknown to her, Calli CANNOT stand the thought of going to Coachella. Here are her various reactions to that.

@@MalteseHalid I think Burning Man can still be fine if you avoid the techbros. It's a big enough event and doesn't have a central stage, so it can be whatever you want it to be. It just costs an ungodly amount of money to get there if you're not in the area.

It’s very much pop, hip hop, indie rock, sort of west coast music, which just doesn’t vibe with Calli’s J-rap and hard rock style. Plus it’s a massive event that’s not super accessible and so it’s not like it would get flooded with Deadbeats, and thus she would be performing to a large audience of people who likely have never heard of her, and potentially have never even heard of vtubers or hololive.
Performing off-genre events is always a risk (speaking from experience…) and you can play the set of your life and the crowd just doesn’t get it, and at the level of pressure and prestige that Coachella is, having a crowd of that size and publicity not vibe with you can be really damaging.
Kiara does have a point on Universal possibly telling Calli to perform at Coachella. But I feel like Calli would actually have a choice to decline assuming the folks at Universal give her that much freedom on matters like accepting or declining offers lol
If one day we do see her there it just means she couldn't say no or just accepted it. Like Kiara said too, when the offer arrives, maybe she'll reconsider.
I personally don't mind either way if she does perform at Coachella or doesn't. If she does then I pray for a successful performance with minimal ridicule from the crowd and the internet. If she does not perform, then that is also fine and probably a better choice for the long run in her career lol

@@sirkelendor5429 It depends on the contract. Also typically you do not want to incur the wrath of your label either way, because usually they make you sign a contract, especially the big ones, that will let them make your career halt for as long as the contract goes.
Also it is a job. Her job is to entertain people and make music. No one gets paid to do things they enjoy.

I don't think Universal can force her to go if she doesn't want to go though. At the end of the day COVER is her boss not Universal, and COVER isn't the kind of company to push Calli to do anything she's not otherwise willing to do

If i hated an idea enough to consider buying rope a preferable outcome, voiding a contact and being blacklisted by a company would be NOTHING.
I think performing at that level of exposure will cause a JoCat situation where spiteful people from outside your target audience will come in to dunk on the popular thing for no reason, which has already happened to Calli MULTIPLE TIMES.
Costs outweigh the benefits massively, especially after Coachella reached that level that a lot of events go through where it's gotten too infested with money people and it sucks now.
The people who attend Coachella are not the kind of people who like Calli. Internet weirdos already give her enough hate, I do not want to see random yuppies joining in.

I think Calli's right, Coachella is the wrong venue for vtubers, the normies still hate anime and won't accept her being there. She has enough haters to deal with. Just look at how Ironmouse STILL has to deal with haters for winning the streamer awards.

In all seriousness, universal would bend to Calli's word. The only other option of Cali doesn't give in would be to fire her, and then Cali would be owed severence. You NEVER fire a major artist because the severance and bad press could potentially ruin an earnings report.

Apparently the crowd is full of trend-chasing rich kid zoomers who are just there to get high, hang out and talk and they don't even listen or pay attention to any of the bands.

I went to coachella, it's definitely fun. There are some social media influencer type people there. But its by no means the majority. Yoasobi was awesome, hatsune miku was great. And so many others too.
And they usually just hang out in like 2 or 3 biggest stages out of the 9 that they have.
I saw a post from someone it said, Coachella use to be an event for music lovers and enjoyers, now its for influencers and instagramers who only see it as an achievement, and you know what… that’s kinda true.

I was surprised to see the audience's reception of Miku despite how terrible the presentation was, so perhaps there is some hope that the crowd will be there to support. People select the stage/venue anyway, so it's not like the crowds are forced to watch musicians they don't care for and aren't on only one stage.

Definitely not main stage material. There's a few stages that hosts acts from different genres so she could try those. There's also been a rise of artists and bands from asia so I think that helps audiences get more used to different music.
probably not, and definitely not for the main stage, you look up coachella and you get artists like lana del rey, tyler the creator, kendrick lamar, bad bunny, blackpink, etc.
