Thank you ! I’m 75, ketovoire for almost a year, watching friends and family succumb to these metabolic diseases and not recognizing how we have been manipulated! Hi from Vancouver Island!
I was considering in filing a suit for the loss of my father at 48 years! I vividly recall the family at dinner - trying to like that margarine- taste awful, smelt yuk, everything was fried in oil…
I'm reminded of progress in physics, where first electricity and magnetism were unified, then they plus the strong and weak nuclear forces got folded in to the unified theory, leaving only gravity on the outside (Einstein spent the last decades of his life searching for a single, unified "theory of everything." What we're seeing in the mitochondrial theory Dr Phillips presents is like a unified theory of diseases. Remarkable, and enormously encouraging.
Excellent presentation Dr Phillips! You and the others like you that are exploring these strategies are the heralds of the new era of human health. Love it.
It seems to come back to the same common denominators : Metabolic health comes from not eating seed oils, sugars, carbs, processed foods and non-human foods. It also follows that IF, Ketones and Autophagy are also what aids in better metabolic health outcomes. Cancer cannot prosper if you don't feed it nor create the oxidation and inflammation.
Both him and you seem to fail considering one thing: animal fats and protein. Don't Palmitate and other SFAs burn more cleanly? What about L-carnosine improving mitocondrial health by promoting coQ10? Taurine has a plethora of effects directly and indirectly. I could go on and on...
I think this is a very interesting theory of cancer. Our current ideas have not produced significant changes in cancer survival in decades. The 'War on Cancer" has been a failure. However, these new ideas will take decades to take hold. One of the best lectures I've seen on the subject, and one of the most important. He hit the nail on the head on each topic. It's refreshing to see young medical scientists preaching the real cause of most of our diseases. Thank you.
I think he is on to something! Aiming at restoring one's health instead of destroying it further with chemo and radiation is at least offering someone a lifeline they might not have discovered otherwise. People have been actively ruining their health since the womb today and it is good to see someone who is willing to go the the root of the issue for restoration of health not just try to mop up the end results which mostly fail miserably.
As a current cancer patient with pseudomyxoma peritonei cancer, I'm on carnivore with a little keto mixed in. A lot of my symptoms are reduced especially pain, I'm assuming this is because tumours are reduced in size however I'm waiting for my next lot of scans to confirm that. Carbohydrates and sugar rich foods don't agree with me, they caused massive amounts of pain which led me to this eating plan. I really enjoyed the presentation, thanks.
Had I heard and understood your metabolic cancer approach, I believe my father would have been with us much longer and my little brother would be here today.
Spot on. I'm currently reading 'The Cancer Code' by Dr. Jason Fung. The information is out there which can inform our dietary decisions and empower us as individuals to prevent heading down the path of chronic or worse conditions, and even REVERSING existing conditions - which, as a 60 year woman, is of particular interest to me. We're are all not heading down a path of degeneration over which we have no control or influence. Thank you Dr. Phillips, your accent, btw is a similar mashup to my own - a great conversation starter ;-)

Excellent presentation and agree with his reasoning & approach. In 2006 I had testicular cancer as an obese 360 lb 44 year old with large family, and I wanted to beat the cancer. Lived a normal American lifestyle, then in 2014, I embarked on keto, 2 day a week fast with water only, after 2 years dropped 170 lbs, all blood work went back to normal & no more cancer. I believe keto & fasting was the key, In 2019 went off keto, back to previous lifestyle, regained all the weight. Now seeing more doctors recommending keto & fasting and I know it works. This presentation helps to explain why. Thank you.
We know someone personally that has cancer. They were about to do chemo. We suggested some amount of fasting. The Dr said absolutely not. If you fast, we will not treat you. This is in the US. The amount of blood clots, strokes, cardiac events like myocarditis/pericarditis, Bell’s Palsy, shingles, etc. that I’ve seen since the vaccine rollout is more than I’ve ever seen in the previous 23.5 years combined. I believe that Carnavore is the BEST way of eating. Vegetables are basically starch/sugar which cancer thrives on. Not a great way of cleaning up your bodies problems. Mitochondria dysfunction is the bottom line of many diseases. Overcome of stress need more energy in the cell for survival basic instinct. If ther is not enough energy in the cells which will look for other way to live. Nutrition and Oxygen supplements system is very important for functioning of mitochondria.
I find myself wondering what role the high level of polyunsaturated fats in the standard diet might play here. A lot of mitochondrial processes are membrane associated, and I would think that if you mess with the lipid composition of those membranes too much, bad things could happen.
Yeah, would be interesting to know. You would need a long cross over trial with keto with high N-6 versus keto with now N-6. With cancer already there, it's the absence of sugar that is helping for sure, but N-6 effect stays unknown. With fasting you're definitely not any any of the two.
Add to this the number of people taking cholesterol drugs... cholesterol is used for your cell and trying to get rid of that is keeping the cell wall weak and capable of more and more insults.
That is an interesting hypothesis. It would be a great premise for a clinical trial. Good thinking on your part. Its this sort of imaginative ideation that we need in science.
Taurine is involved with stabilizing membranes and you'll only find that in meat and no plants. So do yourself a favor if you care about membranes and don't go plant keto.
Wholly agree. But, I’m so curious … HOW does fasting and keto didn’t induce repair or rebuilding of mitochondria or improve / repair cellular function?
I think Dr Gundry wrote a book called Breaking the Keto code. if I recall Keto causes mitochondria uncoupling..a very good thing. they replicate faster etc. see Dr Gundry yt video
Wow this was amazing and I think true. They only thing I thought it failed at was recommendations for every day people.. like how much do you need to fast to restore your mitochondia. I also thought it was great pointing out how modern medicine has become stuck in the Bacteria Model. They just can't, or won't, look for solutions today that aren't of the same type of solutions.
It does appear that there are higher rates of certain diseases in modern society that would support a lifestyle component in their origin. It is difficult to separate from other causes like increased pollution, micro-plastics and other toxins. Fortunately, lifestyle choices are the easiest to address. With that being said, it will still take years of educating the medical establishment and the public to get a gradual change in society. I have heard estimates the the US healthcare bill is 60% diseases of lifestyle, after listening to this lecture, I think that is a low estimate.
Round table discussion with Matt and Stephen Cunnane, Tom Seyfried. ... Michael Levin, Douglas Wallace Nick Lane? Let's bring mitochondria and bioelectricity folk together. What about light though?
I am also wondering about this for pets. I think they are doing studies right now on dogs. Imagine if you could get a dog you loved and have it live well for 10 more years than it does now?
Interesting point. I noticed that pet food manufacturers are a little ahead of human ones..in that grain free has really taken off. (Here in the UK) looked at it quite a bit as my poor cat got cancer..it was too late for her sadly..but if I have another pet..dog or cat..it would be raw meat patties for them all the way. Especially a cat as they are pure carnivore. Dogs..maybe some veg matter but never grains/carbs. I think they would live longer with less incidence of disease.
I would love to find a doctor who would do this diet with my son with Huntington's. The hardest part would be getting a HD patient to cooperate with doing a keto diet from my experience taking care of HD family members.
Hi Dr Mathew, did you ever discuss your work with Dr Thomas Seyfried from Boston College? . He's got all the hard evidence on cancer and that it's a metabolic disease , NOT a genetic disease. You're doing great sir. What is your clinic called?
What about mitochondrial accelerators or supplements ie COQ10 ,PQQ, what about the effects of exercise ,cold ie showers cryogenic WHoff showers ,red light etc lots of other factors come into play but great poisonous glucose -fructose in diet in Al but very small amounts this message should be universal .
Dr., Can you comment on the Randle Cycle's role (combining dietary fats with high amounts of dietary carbohydrates) in promoting mitochondrial dysfunction? Thank you!
hello i follow a Keto diet, i understand watching programs that a high cholesterol diet is not anything to worry about...however i just saw that they have brought in a drug called bempedoic acid which reduces high cholesterol and that it reduces peoples strokes.....does that mean we should be worried about a high cholesterol diet?...so confused!...if anyone out there knows please let me know..thankyou

Wholly agree. But, I’m so curious … HOW does fasting and keto didn’t induce repair or rebuilding of mitochondria or improve / repair cellular function?
@@craigwise4 Autophagy is your answer. Research it. Look up Dr. Fung, he speaks about it.
I think Dr Gundry wrote a book called Breaking the Keto code. if I recall Keto causes mitochondria uncoupling..a very good thing. they replicate faster etc. see Dr Gundry yt video
Keto helps but fasting does the damage to cancer
Thank you!
Great research, great results! Thanks!
Too bad there's not enough profit motive to get more Keto/cancer studies.
Great lecture !
😎 ROCKSTAR! 💥💥💥 Where have you been hiding???
Yes low carb helps but fasting helps the body do the real work. Cutting out sugar, wheat and some dairy also helps
Please have more research on GKI of less than 2 and reversal of metabolic diseases such as Atherosclerosis, stroke, CKD, Foot ulcers, Retinopathy etc
I would love to find a doctor who would do this diet with my son with Huntington's. The hardest part would be getting a HD patient to cooperate with doing a keto diet from my experience taking care of HD family members.
Well done!!
Hi Dr Mathew, did you ever discuss your work with Dr Thomas Seyfried from Boston College? . He's got all the hard evidence on cancer and that it's a metabolic disease , NOT a genetic disease.
You're doing great sir. What is your clinic called?
What you have spoke about, I have heard from Dr Seyfried years ago... Are you related to his studies/research?
Brilliant.
👍Pozdrawiam 😃
Any studies on neurons poor use of glycolysis?
Very Interesting !!
Very interesting
Any opinions on amygdalin?
Don't cancer cells also feed on fermented glutamine?
Yes, according to Dr Seyfried.
What If the high deuterium is the root cause of these moden diseases?! Maybe we should concentrate to lower our deuterium levels.
Wauw!
