The carnival helps crime flourish in other parts of London because a large chunk of the police are stuck policing the carnival,and the criminals know this.

When I lived in Portsmouth , we used to have ‘love Albert road day’ Road shut off, pubs open , people drinking and having fun during the day etc. no violence . The event was only cancelled by the council because of the rubbish left behind . ..Why is a parade with stabbing and god knows what else allowed to continue every year ?
I used to llve in London and I wouldn't go anywhere near this event. It's not just the violence. The place is left looking like an absolute tip. Rubbish everywhere, damage to peoples property etc. Its not right.
The BBC said it was a large vibrant carnival but mentioned any thing else. They never any British events except when Tommy Robinson name is involved!!! Two Tier Broadcasting !!!
There’s always been loads of trouble around the carnival. We used to live just off the Harrow Road, and it was always a nightmare. Police shut many access points around the area and people are herded through small walkways. I always feared another Hillsborough event there. But we used to try to go away that weekend if we could, because it was a nightmare. Generators running constantly through the night, and loads of other noise. If you did venture out, you couldn’t park anywhere near your house when you came back etc. One of my son’s is still in the area and I was worried when I heard a 29 year old had been stabbed. Thankfully he’s okay 🙏🏼, but clearly other families weren’t so lucky 💔. ….I heard the other day that London has more murders than New York now! Quite unbelievable. My family have been Londoners for several generations. It’s not the same place anymore.

The fab Notting hill carnival is the biggest in Europe. Over a million people attend it. The majority of people come for the super floats costumes music and food. However a minority the gangs and troublemakers come for the violence. A bit like the English football fans in the 1980s. The majority of football fans went for the football.
