I was gay as a child. My first crushes where all girls, and I started confronting when I was about 10, but I had a feeling of "this can't be it" and so I kept it for myself, maybe hoping I'd grow out of it. I only developed an attraction to men when I was 14 or 15. So yeah, I could have come out at his age, but I didn't feel like it was the right time.
Such an unbelievable video. Remember that some people still don’t have this freedom or acceptance yet... To them I say, never be afraid to make your own family. Putting positivity and love into the world, you will always find people that will embrace you and accept you like family. There is nothing wrong with you nor have you done anything wrong. That is the meaning of community. Stay Strong ❤️
im crying, im a lesbian and in love with my gf , we're going to marry in secret because we can't come out and don't have the guts to , living in a arabic muslim country kinda sucks We're not excepted but my love for her will never change, it is not a crime to love somebody, it's a crime locking people up because of it LOVE WINS AND IT ALWAYS WINS 🏳️🌈. 🖤💍.
I had my first gay experience with my little cousin when I was nine, he was also nine and was deeply in love when I was 12. Now I had been with my lover for 39 years and I tell you that I am glad that things had changed, at least in the western world, because I remember something that I will never forget; when I was 15 a policeman beat a friend of mine and naked down his teeth and we were to afraid to complain. I am 69 years old now and I still remember with such sadness and my friend was so beautiful and it was my fault because I kissed him on the street and some people called the police on us. So be very happy for what you have and always remember that the fight is not over and do for others what we have done for you!!... Many hugs!!...
I wish I could come out one day :( sucks being in the UK yet my family won't accept it. Happy that these two people are able to be themselves and are comfortable
...I also find it interesting that you searched out and actually watched this vid, if you really are so against gay people... Seems to me, you're hiding something.
When I was 12 I kept telling myself I’m not gay, I don’t want this voice. But 2 years later I’ve realised love is love. I still haven’t come out to my parents, but my friends are so supportive and it’s amazing to be able to breath again.
Happy to have found this site. My partner and I have been together for 47 years. He is 85 years old and I am 78. For Danny Smith, not everyone in Florida is a homophobe. We live in a suburban neighborhood in Jacksonville and have a great friendship with our neighbors who know we are gay but have accepted us without question or comment. I have been openly gay since my early 20's and never been discriminated against. Not every person's life or story is the same, but the conclusion is as other's have said, "Be yourself" and accept those who love you.
I live in the Jacksonville are now and it is true that everyone here is so accepting, I used to live in Southwest Florida and everyone is so much more homophobic there.
This is amazing and so wonderful for these two to be able to openly and frankly discuss their lives. I'm in awe, and a little jealous of those today being more able to be free and find love.
This was so cool guys, I am African American, brought up in the South, conservative Christian, I had my own beliefs on being gay, as well as everybodies around me. it was so hard growing up, but thank God I made it out, grew up, now living my life on my own terms, newly engaged to my best friend, I now live in Chicago, life could be better, but I am grateful, it is not as bad as some have it, thanks for this eye opening experience.
Oh man, who is cutting onions??? Louis is amazing, 13 years old and so clued up, so sensible and well spoken! What a credit he is to his Mum and Dad. As for Percy and Roger... 50 years together... AMAZING!! May you guys have many more happy years xx
Great interview. Good for you for being involved, open & honest. What a joy to see LGBT Youth who are open and out there, lighting a beacon for those unsure, in hiding, questioning, curious, etc.
Sizza FN I’m stuck. I wanna tell my Best friend that I like him but I don’t know if he is gay or Bi, like me but, I don’t wanna destroy my friendship with him.
That man had to be so brave to live his life how he wanted too while he was living in a world where almost everyone was telling him that it is wrong what he's doing, in fact that he's wrong in a way and still fight on, live on and love on, I deeply admire him.
Trent and Luke, this is the most IMPORTANT video you've ever made. It's social significance is huge. The young man is astonishingly articulate for a 13 year old presenter. This will always rank as one of my favorite videos on your channel.
13 year olds are being pressured by their parents and being supported to do stupid decisions when their older when they ACTUALLY HAVE A FUCKING DEVELOPED MIND. Why do people think its alright to be this and that when boy and girl has existed for thousands of years. People like you question the norm all the time. Why can their be the cake gender? Why cant they have their bathroom? You should check your privilege. Really? Is that what you kinds of people got? Like i said boy and girl have existed for a very long time its like languages and numbers. We eventually used all the same numbers. Just because you feel straight on mondays and non existent unicorn gender on fridays doesnt mean its a real gender and its only existed since 2016.
@@redfear7757 your point? And btw if you feel str8 on Monday I don't think you'll ever not feel str8. Yeah boy and girl have existed since the beginning so have gay people. Only that boy and girl was accepted and gay was not for no reason at all. Times have changed now and they're accepted. And btw being gay is not stupid or a decision. And no one is being pressured by their parents to be gay. Even if they somehow do try to pressure their kids to be gay..If they're not gay they're not gay. And that's it. Now the question is why do people like you and some parents pressure their gay kids to be str8?. Which in itself is impossible btw.
This video was so inspirational to see how different the experience has been for the new generation and the old generation i love all of your videos and always luck forward to new ones keep up the good work and remember new ideas can come from little places
Right. Unlike heterosexual marriages, like Britney Spears, who married her boyfriend in Las Vegas in 2004 and had it annulled 2 days later. Or Carmen Elektra and Dennis Rodman, who were married for 9 days in 1998. Of course there's Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, who divorced after 2 1/2 months in 2011. Then there's Lisa-Marie Presley and Nicolas Cage, Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock, Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney, Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd and etc., etc., etc.
We should have more of this. There's a huge generation gap in the gay community and it really would help to sit down and learn where the two sides are coming from.
No wtf we need less of this our world is slowly falling apart and this is a mental problem that people accept its fucking crazy bro just think about it it’s a horrible thing if guy on. Guy was supposed to happen then guys could give birth
Such a wonderful interview! This is more like we young rebels had in mind for the future when we formed the Gay Power Movement back in the '70s. We've come a long way (no pun intended) since those culture-changing years. Bless you, young man, for contributing to a continuity of gay culture that was suppressed for so long. We helped change understanding and legal definitions. That's why one of the early battle cries was "Come Out of the Closet and into the Streets!" We did, and it worked.
Jamie - TheLowDown it is truly amazing to hear that and I've always been afraid to come out because of my dad like my dad knows I'm bi but inside I know I'm gay and it's hard and not as easy because my dad makes fun of me for everything I do
This 13 year old is being given an amazing gift,of insight into the world he will happily accept, but hearing the fight it’s taken for his freedom. It’s brilliant
This makes my heart feel so so full. I'm so happy and lucky to be apart of such a loving, accepting community. Hearing both of their stories is truly inspiring. Such a beautiful beautiful video. 💕🌈
ZoeBearBish Its your brain, not your heart that feels full! Only God and the things he bless can fill your heart... he loves you, and those people (like in the vid), but he doesn't approve that, as simple as that! Sorry but its the truth.
How mentalities has changed. This is a testimony of the history we all should be aware how our ancestors lived in a constant struggle to tell who they are and how they felt. Im proud of the entire world and what its becoming.
Being gay in Asia is not easy at all, even though society is open, the concept of Gay still can not escape the so-called traditional concept of the ancients. Gay concept was only popular in Asia about 10 year ago. This is great video !
In which part of Asia do you live in? I live in the Philippines, and while most people don't mind if you're gay (except for Extremist Christians), the concept of gays is still very stereotypical due to the fact that a lot of the gay icons here are stereotypically gay. You can imagine how small minded the Filipino's view is on gay people. But the gay society here is very proud and is a vastly large group of LGBT+ members.
Carlo : i live in a big city of VN and yes i understand your mean. In Philippines they also VN ... they don't mine if you are Gay! But back 10 years ago, the concept of Gay is still new and still stumbles many old social prejudices. The LGBT community in Vietnam has grown a lot and it still growing !
And oh ! until now ! Still, some people are surprised and slightly grumpy when they know that i'm gay. But that's a minority because they're the ones who were before
It just makes me so happy to see how respectful they treat each other. There is still a long way to go, but it's nice to see that there has been changes
Videos like this make my heart swell for the lgbtq+ community. For everyone watching I hope ur having a great day! We've come so far and I'm proud to see what other walls we'll break down for this community
i just saw this omg im literally in tears! louis you are seriously incredible! and same with percy you guys are changing perspectives on homosexuality and its so good to see!
Words fail me. This was truly beautiful. We have come so far in most of the world. Let us remember our brothers and sisters in those parts who are still oppressed may they too gain the acceptance we have.
Very impressive video. The young man is so sensible and mature for 13 years old, and Percy and Roger a lovely loving example of all a relationship should be. R.I.P. Dr. Roger Lockyer, died 28th October 2017. Condolences to Percy.
Louis Packham Thank you for your reply Louis. Yes, Roger and Percy seem a delightful couple on the video. I am sure it must have been quite a thought provoking experience for all of you. Sad that Roger has gone, but his life must have been one of fulfilment in many ways. I am 65 next week, but when I was your age, which does not seem very long ago, I felt that life would go on forever. Have a happy life, and always be kind to others. It will be reciprocated in so many ways. Having said that I can tell from your appearance in the video that you are both kind and thoughtful, and willing to learn from the experiences of those who have gone before. Also be proud of everything you are. I hope later in your life you will be as happy as I am with my husband. All the best for the future. Peter.
Because to those who aren't it's unfamiliar to them so it makes it not normal to be gay, and to some people the unknown scares them and or makes them angry cause they don't fully understand.
wow. powerful video, thank you for making this! the world can be such an amazing place if you allow yourself to accept it. 2020 was such a mess but honestly i still have hope for the future.
Thank you so much for doing this project. I just found out about it today here in 2024. Had no clue this even existed. A very sweet poignant amazing piece of work. I look forward to seeing more. Thank you for doing this
Donald Storm have to agree @TrentandLuke have done an amazing job! They have been trying to do this kind of video for a long time but finding the right people and putting it all together has been difficult! Sometimes when your patient everything falls into place which is exactly what happened last week. Really glad you enjoyed it! 💕
Came across this video and just had to watch. What a fantastic idea a 13 year old and a 78 year old talking about the differeces over 65 years. Wow the older guys been together 51 years. I thought i was doing good at 26 years with my Husband.
I dated a girl that thought she was bi for 10 hours and later she broke up with me because she realised she was straight. We’re still best friends thought.
I had no idea homosexuality was decriminalized 50 years ago in the UK when this video came out, thats like... 1967. Meanwhile in the US it took until 2003!! I was born before homosexuality was legal, albeit only for a year but still! Thats rather sad isn't it?
Interesting. So I just looked up to see if Brian Epstein of The Beatles got to see the decriminalization act. It was put into effect July 27th, 1967. Brian died August 27th, 1967. One month exactly. I'd think he would've been happy. 😔
Just found this video and found it very moving especially knowing Percy and Roger had both passed. I notice that Louis's Twitter and IG have both been closed. I hope that doesn't indicate that he'd been given any trouble on social media?!? 😒

Thank you for fighting for our rights! :)
Bitch i knew since i was 4
Imagine being able to have this conversation with an elderly gay. Just having a heartfelt conversation. I would feel so grateful to experience this.
Never forget: History sometimes repeats. Especially if you are not aware of that. So be careful.

Things like this make me realize how lucky I am to be a lesbian in a time where the world is more accepting
Miah ❤️❤️
Me too!!!Well just my family not accepting...but yeah
MEEE
It isnt all accepting. Cannot be with the woman i love or whom loves me cause it is so stigmatized by her family.
@@krisj5561 my family is super against it too I cant even come out to them
Such an unbelievable video.
"I think I will have the scotch", that's seriously the best coming out story

Angel Blue you and your girlfriend are very brave and I’m proud of you
Good luck. Love wins
Angel Blue you’re Muslim and gay ??!!!!!
I hope you get your rights💕
Which country exactly?
There is NOTHING wrong with being gay. There is something weird as hell doing shit with your cousin when you're 9 years old. Wtf

Oh shut it. You sound incredibly stupid when you post nonsense like this.
...I also find it interesting that you searched out and actually watched this vid, if you really are so against gay people...
John Roddy Sounds like a lovely relationship!! Congrats :)
Thank you Louis and I predict a wonderful future for you based on your intelligence and the loving support of your parents
I live in the Jacksonville are now and it is true that everyone here is so accepting, I used to live in Southwest Florida and everyone is so much more homophobic there.
That's probably because there are more Catholics there I would think...
Catholics don't own being nice.

This is amazing and so wonderful for these two to be able to openly and frankly discuss their lives. I'm in awe, and a little jealous of those today being more able to be free and find love.
Really.. You are. You are so frank. And I like old man.

That man had to be so brave to live his life how he wanted too while he was living in a world where almost everyone was telling him that it is wrong what he's doing, in fact that he's wrong in a way and still fight on, live on and love on, I deeply admire him.
Tergy Very brave !!
Trent and Luke, this is the most IMPORTANT video you've ever made. It's social significance is huge. The young man is astonishingly articulate for a 13 year old presenter. This will always rank as one of my favorite videos on your channel.
Ken Fraza thank you ! means so much 💓
Louis Packham You’re welcome Louis!
@@kenfraza Hola gracias hombre
People who say that gay relationships don't last should watch this video. Those two gentlemen are still together to this day.
There are some excellent videos on You Tube, and this was one of them.
Hear hear, well said.
Hear hear, well said.
We should have more of this. There's a huge generation gap in the gay community and it really would help to sit down and learn where the two sides are coming from.

Percy is no joke such a sweetheart.
Absolutely beautiful video! Amazing advice. Brought a tear to my eye

ZoeBearBish So happy you like it ❤️
ZoeBearBish Its your brain, not your heart that feels full!
Carlo Mendoza true that.
But that's a minority because they're the ones who were before
That young boy has a great family

Very impressive video. The young man is so sensible and mature for 13 years old, and Percy and Roger a lovely loving example of all a relationship should be. R.I.P. Dr. Roger Lockyer, died 28th October 2017. Condolences to Percy.
Peter Snell When i first met Roger (behind the scenes of the video) he was so polite, and caring. I am deeply saddened to hear the news 🤧👼🏻

I'm glad you guys are still friends! It's good that she realized she was actually straight with someone who continued to support her 😊
I had no idea homosexuality was decriminalized 50 years ago in the UK when this video came out, thats like...
