    I think it was overall really good advice given in this video, though the only thing that low key bothered me was that in correcting the last picture although you made it more pleasing for the eyes and anatomically correct you kinda lost the soul and the essence of the character. Like she had such a dreamy expression that really showed to me what kind of person she is and then in the corrected version it sort of became just a blanc stare. But aside from that, as I said very good advice! :)

      @TLinnNguyen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Exactly what i thought. The original one has more character to it. The fixed version were a bit “too perfect” that it looks so stiff

      @idkwhattomakemyname848 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree completely. I love everything about the original, but her version seems to perfected, in a way. The girl in the art piece beforehand was beautiful, and, as you said, had a dreamy look about her. Her face seems to tell a story to the viewer. In the new one, however, her face has lost its personality and beauty, and has been turned into what I would say is the typical beauty standards.

      @blackcatspat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Couldn’t agree more. The original face was better. The colorizing was good but I wish she left the face alone. I also weirdly preferred the curvy arm lol?

      Yeah the vibe of the original and the overall color palette is really nice and to me feels almost nostalgic to me for some reason. But the 'fixed' version seems just bland and not interesting imo. I just wished Alicj would have fixed the Anatomy mistakes and not the entire face to look like the stereotypical western 'beautiful women' :(

    17:44 the corrected painting feels kinda dead, the colours are fine but the face should have stayed the same as the original painting (of course moving a little bit the proportions, but that was enough)

    oddly enough with the white snake one, i like the original better lmao. went from looking like a real normal person looking at something, to looking dead inside xD i also prefer the hues of orange and blue, not as fond as the more royal blue and red orange, tho the saturation could have been higher

    lets be honest
    i think* we all love she trys to name the mistakes in a nice way
    example:
    some nice artist's way of naming the mistake: over all its really good but we just needed to move it a bit
    some mean artist's way of naming the mistake: yeah it was overall horrible and needed a whole ton of fixing

    Is it necessary to flip your drawings? Cuz when I do it I see a ton of mistakes and it looks nothing close to what I saw before but if I leave my drawings for a day or 2 then flip I see no difference

    • @jareddior
      @jareddior 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You dont want to overdue the canvas flipping because you’re brain will get used to both and so you won’t recognize mistakes. You shouldn’t fear flipping the canvas, think of it as a helpful tool. It will maker you a better artist in the long run because you’ll fix any asymmetrical elements your drawings may have.

    I feel like the last picture was more atonal in quality to contribute to the haziness of the surrealistic/ethereal quality.
    I did think that the skin tones could be slightly mfyjore even, but the highlights were then lost and the tones of color added were too saturated for the overall slightly washed out/steamy filter of lighting in the whole atmosphertBefore editing, she has a dewy look to her skin, as it would look in the mist filled atmospheric conditions, and of being partially submerged in water.
    I disagree that the eyes should have been altered at all - focus and positioning of the iris, (colored are of the eye) up and it’s size is highly individualistic. Real eyes are never perfectly symmetrical and the eyes were the most interesting quality to the original work. I would have changed the shadow tone in her lips/that slight separation and the form was rather flat, the shadow too boldly black and comic-book quality. It was out of place with the soft, muted tones of the drawing.
    The expression on her face was sadly lost and her face was changed entirely. Fair skinned people often have blue undertones to their skin - so, when choosing a matching red, it should usually be one with less yellow/orange undertones. The natural hair color will ALWAYS - so this skin may have been a bit too pink/blue in fair tone rather than yellow undertones of very fair skin with an orange-vibrant hair color. Perhaps the hair would lean more towards auburn or strawberry blonde, (it appears to be this) rather than orange or yellow. In any case - these are two completely different works of art. You have created a beautifully inspired piece from her original.
    As a side note, I think if different tones of white were used in the (snakes/dragons/water spirits/hallucinations of serpents) serpentine shapes, perhaps some light detailing on the edges, especially where they would be shadowed in the curvature of the forms, in different tones of white (created with cooling and warming using cream/white/pink/yellow/blue/orange (or whatever). It would also be interesting if they were slightly luminescent or iridescent, textured (at least) in edges of the form, and highlighted to increase that texturing, perhaps as a snake or fish would be. Then, if they’re in the surface of the water, some slight reflection should fall around them on the water. It could simply be a white, lightly blurred, translucent highlight. Highlights would also follow the current of the water in a wake from the different directions they are swimming. As her face is partially submerged, so too would be the edges of the serpents - unless they float above the water, swimming in the air. In this case, a slight shadow and/or reflection of color from them could be added to illustrate the illusion of depth. Perhaps, as well the graduated sizes of circular ripples from a small drop (or three in different sizes) falling to the surface of the water from the serpents, or perhaps one of the serpents is emerging from the surface of water into the air...
    just my own humble opinions. I really love that particular piece!

    There's a lot of people criticising the last one. And that's fine. But I wanna point out another viewpoint. This is free advice. I understand things like style are subjective. With all advice you can take the things you find useful and leave the things you think will not help your personal art journey.
