This may be a three year old video but I am really enjoying making this shawl. I also love the stitch pattern and probably will be using it to make a blanket. 🎉
I was thinking that too. After my Christmas presents are done I want to make a king-size bedspread and couldn't decide what to do. But this is a lovely look
I couldn't help but laugh aloud when you mention the crochet 'death grip.' Finally someone described how I hold my hook. Thanks for this beautiful tutorial.
Oh.My.Gosh!!! This is amazing. I have made many of your shawls, this one speaks to me the loudest! It turned out beautifully. My learning style is by watching an example, then doing it. Your camera work is great! I can see everything you're doing. You are an amazing teacher. A rare and wonderful skill. Thank you for all you do for all us yarnivores out here.
Thank you so much, this is a great shawl pattern. As I'm anxiously sitting here awaiting knee replacement surgery tomorrow I can focus on this shawl, it's simple enough and different enough to keep me focused on it. And it's turning out great!! You do the best tutorials. I was looking for something last night and knew if I selected one of yours I'd be happy, know exactly how much yarn I'd need and it would turn out great. Your close up camera work is great so I can really see what you're doing. Thank you so much. God bless you my friend.
Barbara Lienhard: I’ve had knee replacement also and wanted to see how you are now! Hope you’re feeling well and walking without pain now! God bless you!!!!
I have to have my knee replacement too! Hope you are doing well now and walking better! My knee is so painful. But crocheting always makes me happy. So glad I found this pattern. Looks awesome! Might make it for myself! Take care! ❤
@@bethparsons Good luck with your knee replacement. I'm doing great, it's now been a year since my left knee and will be a year in June that I had my right knee done. Take the pain meds!! That way you can stay ahead of the pain and do the therapy. I am fortunate to live in Florida and we were able to go walking outside, me and my physical therapist and then me and my hubby to practice. I did have physical therapy at home for three weeks and I thought that was really helpful. Initially because of Covid but in the end I think it helped my therapist know what I needed based on the home situation too. I do live on our sailboat and was recuperating at my son's apartment, but when I got to out-patient PT we could work on the boat stuff I needed to do, especially balance on a moving boat!! You'll do great I'm sure. Everyone told me about taking the pain pills so I'll say that too, it really wasn't going to be addictive because I knew I was not going to have pain forever, that's why I had my knee replaced!!! And the surgeon wants you to take them so you can do the therapy to get better. Prayers for you and your medical team. ❤️❤️
I started this pattern for myself and am loving it, had to set it aside in order to finish another gift, just came back this afternoon to refresh my memory. Hoping to finish my shawl quickly so I can enjoy it this spring. Thank you for sharing, I always love your crystal-clear tutorials! Thanks again and take care!
I love you, Fiberspider! You video in ways that I can clearly see what you're doing & you don't go too fast. I haven't gotten the hang of understanding written directions and have semi-blindness in one eye. So, I also appreciate how you stay with us until the end (or, at least, you explain how to finish in a very easy way). I look forward to a variety of new projects. THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS!!!🤩
You make me feel like we are all sitting together crocheting and I love this atmosphere you give us. Chit chatting is the best...it's why I keep coming back to your channel.
Thank you Fiber Spider, I ask my sister to get me some cotton yarn from Wal Mart and not k,owing one yarn from another she brought me three bundles of Mondula yarn so I told her no worries it won't go to waste so I was looking for a simple pattern to do with it and this is so perfect, thank you again, I'm with you I tend to like granny patterns.
Took me a while, about 5-6 rows, to get the hang of this but now I see where you're going with this pattern. If I get muddled I just reload the video and follow you along again. Love this pattern Craig, thanks so much for your patient, kind instruction and the lengths you go to provide clear camera angles and close-ups. I am really enjoying the Modern Granny Shawl.
Loved making this, after the beginning of was super easy and even relaxing to make I finished mine off with a basic shell boarder and the compliments are endless. Thanks for the help and ideas
I love doing this 2 row repeat stitch. I've made quite a few blankets using this two row repeat stitch. My friend is making this exact shawl and it got me wanting to make one. Thank you so much for doing this video. 😊❤
I re-found your video and made the shawl in emerald colors, it is popular with my family and now my sister and mom both have requested one so, I am one third the way through another one. Thank you!! You are my favorite teacher.
I don’t know how many of these I ha pie made your totural is so east to follow everyone I have given one to just loves it.I’m in the middle of doing another one for my niece who is expecting in October and through it might go in handy when she’s up with the baby boy she is having Thank You for showing up this pattern
Craig, love this pattern. I always LOVE your choice of stitches, yarns, ideas - stylish, practical, elegant. Love all you do for us. Thank you always and may God protect you and your family in these uncertain days.
Hi I love the idea of a. Shawl in this stitch, I have done squares and blankets with it but never seen a shawl in it, thanks for sharing, you are so patient, happy crocheting from Ireland xx
I love this pattern and using the variegated yarn is such a great way to make it look fabulous. I got Lion Brand Landscapes and making a bunch of these for Christmas this year. Thank you so much for this and for your easy to follow instructions.
I started this yesterday it is half done already! It is so much fun it will be a regular pattern for my prayer shawls. It is beautiful in the self striping yarns. I have done many of your videos around 10 and this is my favorite!
I just found your video😃! Where have I been 🤷♀️! Love this pattern and was crocheting 🧶 along with your wonderful tutorial. Definitely a new sub💕! Thank you so much for sharing, take care🤗💕!
I was looking to make something simple, and I found it! Just love how this is turning out! This is actually the first granny square shawl I have come across! Thank you so much! Just enjoy your video tutorials!
Love this shawl...but definitely want to get this yarn before I do it. The Yarn helps this stitch stand out. Great tutorial. You're work is always so beautiful.
I found this amazing tutorial when searching for granny shawls. You are an incredible instructor! Love love love this tutorial! I am making several of these to donate to my local VA home. 🧶🧶
Making from stunning vintage coats and clarks, made in in USA, color 091 "shaded red". It is stunning. Made when american textiles were still a thing. I miss that.
I absolutely love this pattern I got fed up of the original granny pattern but I have used the same type of yarn Lion Brand Ice Cream Tutti Frutti but a size 5.5mm hook XX Your my favourite teacher dearest Fiber Craig Spider XXXXXx
I am starting this now and it is simply gorgeous. I love your tutorials. You're so easy to understand. Wonderful job and thank you for all of your hard work!
I love how color change yarn works! Keeps a color addict like me happy without changing colors so many times! A relief after my Navajo Tears afghan (half done)! I have done the modern granny (I am one after all) as afghans with scrap buster intents and it’s wonderful! Think this shawl will be next! Caron cotton cakes maybe less heavy for summer!
Beautiful shawl I love the color! I’ll be making this one. Thank you for the tutorial! You have been a life saver to me during this lock-in of my city 🌃
This made me think of your Granny Kimono Shawl and wondering if I can use the modern granny stitch for that. See you later. I'm going to give it a try!
Hi Spider, just wanted to thank you for the wonderful tutorial on the Virus meets granny shawl. I can't wait to try this one. You just made it sooo easy.
Love this, although someone pointed out it’s not a new Pattern. I don’t care I still Love it. I don’t think there is any pattern out there that’s not been done by someone before. Thank you for your easy to follow Tutorials. Patricia 💖
This is beautiful. I love the granny making it this way is similar to the box stitch. I’m going to give this a try real soon. I enjoy your videos they are very entertaining and informative.
Could you please do this in blanket form? You have the best tutorials. I would rather watch yours than anyone else's. You explain things so well. Thank you for being so clear on your instructions.
Heya Fiber Spider😀. I really like this modern granny shawl! I’m making it up with Wool-Ease in colour way Forever Young! I have a friend that likes pink😀 Thanks again for being the crafty Coffee and Mountain Dew? Guy you are!!!😀😍 Determined Delma 😀🦁
I do like this and am seriously thinking of making one for myself. It's not going to be summer for ever! Unfortunately our cold, wet and windy winter will set in all too soon. We do tend to have a lot of wet in this neck of the woods. You could easily do a different colour with the second row it would just mean doing two rows on one side and two rows on the other side instead of one back and one front row, but I'm not sure how that would look. It would also need an edging added to cover the yarn taken up the sides. Thanks Fibre Spider and thanks for keeping us sane. We need sanity about now.
Hi 👋 Fiber spider I just love 💕 this pattern , I was finally able to go out yesterday to pick up my yarn 🧶 so now I can get started, can’t wait its so pretty Thank you 😊 for the video. Mary.
I made this for my sister over a couple of days. Absolutely loved it & it was so easy to do, only because you explain everything so well that I can follow easily. Love your Chanel. Wish I could add a pic
Ideal delusions, Doris Yocum Turner has a shawl that has been on her blog for at least 6 years and it’s very similar to this pattern. A lovely stitch and if you want to use different colours change the colours on the sc, chain row and you get a lovely look. Doris also has lots of terrific retro patterns. And they are all free.
I will make this as I think of the Granny stitch as an Afghan stitch. I always think of it as wearing an Afghan when I see it in a shawl. I like this look. That’s not to say I don’t love the granny but I’m so old it’s my go to Afghan pattern.
Lion Brand is my fav yarn, too, and this sour happened is really interesting.. I’d love to see it in a blanketi do like the regular granny stitch shawl. It was my first shawl, and I used Mandala Gnome... It was certainly colorful😊 And I was thrilled. Followed one of your tutorials, of course..
