Ma'am, I love to crochet but I have been stuck on blankets and scarves for years. I have tried so many tutorials which usually ended with me crying tears of frustration. Today I am happy to say that the tears were of JOY! THANK YOU!!!!!
I have also been stuck on flatwork and really wanted to try a shawl. I have several cakes of Hobbii yarn (Sultan and Twister) that I couldn’t find a good use for. All previous shawls were too much for me but this is perfect!!! Thank you 😊
Me too, I love making blankets. I have tried my hand at babies clothes but they don't come out right I'm hoping this channel will finally get me on track
I’m someone who has dyslexia and i have to say that reading patterns is a STUGGLE sometimes. this tutorial was so concise and i really understood it!! thank you so much ❤❤❤
I have always wanted to make a triangular shawl. This pattern is sooo easy, I was on my own by row 2, lady this impressed the heck outta me. ❤ Love love love it! Gonna be some great presents under the tree this year!
Two days ago I held a crochet hook for the first time in my life and today I have a beautiful shawl! Your tutorial is perfect even for complete beginners, thank you so much for it! I fell in love with crocheting. :)
I’m not a beginner. I’ve been crocheting 58 years, but this is really a wonderful video for a beginner, or an experienced crocheter. Thanks for this. I subscribed to your channel after seeing it.
Thank you! You explained this so well! Thank you for telling us it would increase by 6 for each row. For a first time crocheting anything other the amigarumi that I just learned a few months ago. Attempting a shawl from another tutorial, I had it rounding on the straight edge. It was looking like a sting ray! I started over with your tutorial and made my first beautiful triangle shawl! Thank you!
I have made a waffle pattern shawl but wanted a simple triangle shawl. Your tutorial is amazing. Thank you so very much, my simple triangle shawl turned out beautifully! My 5 year old grandson loves it and said, "Grandma, I want one of my own". He likes the way it drapes over the shoulders and frees up the hands, (you know for playing video games, cars, artwork), allowing him to stay warm all the while. So, I'm starting it now. It's a grandparents right to spoil their grandkids and I'm loving it!
You are so welcome and I am so glad you enjoyed it! What a sweet grandma story to tell - thank you so much for sharing! And, yes it is definitely a grandparent's right to spoil the grandkids 😉. One of my favorite things to do 💕 Thanks so much for being here 🌸
So many times I tried to do a shawl but never could succeed. But when I came across this video I was blessed to understand. Its so easy. I am surprised 😮 that finally I am able to make a lovely shawl. Thanks a lot 🎉🎉
I made a shawl like this last year. So fun and easy. I started a rectangular one. Making them as prayer shawls, for our shut ins or Pastor to bring to nursing home when he makes his visits.
Thank u for this tutorial. I was looking for an easy crochet that I didn't need to use so much brain power and this is perfect and stress free. Thanks again!
I absolutely love this pattern because it is so versatile! You can make a really cute shawl with the herringbone stitch (I just chain four instead of three at the end of each row) I've also used this pattern and added spaces and bubble stitches. Once you've got the hang of the pattern you can do quite a bit with it! Thank you so much for this tutorial
Ty for such an easy simple way to do a triangle shawl-I have watched many other videos where I had to learn a new stitch that was incorporated into the shawl and the shawls were all beautiful but I wanted a “basic” way to do a triangle shawl first and then perhaps incorporate other stitches, knowing the basics of how to make it grow! Ty sooooo very very much!!!! Ingenious!
Omgggg!!!❤❤❤ this is the easiest shawl to stitch !! I havnt picked up a crochet hook in a bout 2 years and I decided I should make a shawl and that’s what I’m doing today!! Ty for this really easy pattern!
As a beginner crochet(er?) I found a site for a DC shawl n boy did i have major problems! Nevermind trying to understand written pattern vs the youtube tutorial! Now that Ive done a DC shawl, n wasnt completely happy w it, i know to search triangle dc shawl n ur video popped up! O m goodness! Ur concept n directions are beautifully understandable! I cant wait to try ur method! Im excited again (felt reluctant to try again!)!!
So glad my tutorial inspired you to make another attempt! I hope you enjoy the process and are happy with the result. Thank you so much for watching! 💕🌸
A big thank you for this pattern. I've frogged so many after giving up on complicated patterns. This one is not only simple but gorgeous! Perfect for an outdoor Autumn wedding in Vermont.
I've always been more of a knitter, and very beginner at that, but recently i decided to unravel a (partially) knitted shawl I've been stuck on for months and start over with crochet so I can fix mistakes more easily--this is exactly the pattern I was looking for, and your clear, concise directions helped a ton! I can't wait to spend my afternoons stitching away at my new shawl :D
All this time I did not know all I had to do to make it even was to DC at the bottom of the chain and on the other side put the 2 DC at the top of that last chain. THANK YOU!!
I love this! So easy and so pretty. I have a few balls of the cotton cakes and now I have something to make! Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to see your new creation with the triangles! Take care
Hello sweet lady I have been trying to learn to crochet a shall to give it as a surprise present to my dear Sister that she has been recuperting from an illness and she always said it's too cold where she lives wich it's hot in the country she is living at, but I have watch other tutorials and had tried and had never be able to finished or accomplished. But this tutorial has motivated me again to try, loved the way you explained everything and steps to follow. So with that being said I'm going to try again following your instructions. Thanks so very much I will for sure going to get be able to do it and send her to her, I think she will love one especially in pink with lavender and probably cream color or white. God Bless you, and be prosperous for taking the time to help people like me, and I thank you for sharing and taking the time to made this video. Be blessed and thanks for sharing such a beautiful talent. 😊 I did subscribe because I want to continue learning with your tutorials videos. 😊
I am so glad you found the video helpful and I am so happy it inspired you to try it! I hope you enjoy making it and your sister loves wearing it! Thank you so much for being here! 💕🌸
I am going to try making this because I have some beautiful yarn that will look amazing from this pattern. Your instructions is what's going to make it possible for me to accomplish it. God bless you for your talent and thank you for sharing it with the general public 😊❤🎉
excellent tutorial. I had a little trouble finding the top of the chain 3, it's hard to get the hook in the right spot, but once i did, it was smooth sailing. Making a shawl from your tutorial!
I love the way you explain what you are going to be doing as well as the wording at the top of the screen. This is so helpful ! And your camera work is amazingly clear....thanks so much 😊 I will be trying your Triangle scarf with the pom pom edge, looks beautiful and love the colors you chose.
Thank you for sharing this easy shawl to crochet. I think I will use a lighter weight yarn, maybe a 2 for a light summer shawl. As you suggested different yarns to try.💜🙏🧶
Hi! I’m a beginner and I’ve saved this video. You are so thorough with your wording! I still have yet to learn how to read it well. I have made a scarf, small blanket, and a beanie so far. I’m working on a big blanket that will take me a while, I wanting to make a shawl for myself! Would this be good to continue on and make a nice sized shawl? I’m sorry if that’s an ignorant question 😅 I’m still trying to learn! ❤
This is so awesome! I'm absolutely loving the pattern, and defiantly making a bunch of these for my family for Christmas. One question though, how did you double up the small yarn for this? How do you choose which hook to use and how do you not accidentally only pull one of the two? Do you have to like roll them together first or something? Any tips would be appreciated, I've never done that before and didn't even know it was an option.
Happy to help! Using two strands of yarn is really easier than you would think! I just hold them together from two different cakes/balls of yarn. No need to roll them together first. The fibers tend to cling to each other a bit which helps keep them together. Sometimes you might catch just one strand but I haven't found it to be a significant issue. As far as choosing a hook I will go off of the recommended hook size for the yarn I am using and make adjustments based on that. So, if like on a light yarn it recommends a G (4.5 mm) hook I will go up a couple of sizes to an I (5.5 mm) and work up a few rows to see how I like the drape. If the fabric is very dense and I want something with drape like this shawl I will go up another size or two until I am happy with the result. I use the technique of two strands frequently in my designs as I love the play in the colorwork and how unique the finished product is. I hope all that helps and I hope you enjoy the pattern! 💕🌸
Your shawl is beautiful. I've been wanting to make one for the longest time but I feel so intimidated. Your tutorial is very easy to follow. Question, How do you make it longer so it wraps around more? That is what I cant figure out. I want it longer so it wraps around but i dont want the back triangle part too long? Thank you for sharing
I love this tutorial so much. Thank you for all the help !!! Curious if there is a way to add a border to the edge with all the ch3 stitches. How would someone go about doing that?
Absolutely you could add a border to the outside edge! A simple picot border would be very easy and give it a little boost of fun! You can check out my picot stitch tutorial here: nanascraftyhome.com/how-to-crochet-picot-crochet-stitch-tutorial/
Hello Tanya bush. I am looking for the pattern it was in the work basket magazine. I was a tan Indiana shawl made with beads and fringe. I think it was done in double crochet. If you could help me with this pattern I would be very grateful. Thank you sue.
Absolutely! My website is nanascraftyhome.com/ and you can find the free written pattern for this scarf here: nanascraftyhome.com/simple-crochet-shawl-for-beginners-free-crochet-pattern/
Fantastic and easy pattern! So let me have things clear. Doing this the shawl will grow from the widest part of the triangle and works through the pointy part of the shawl, is this correct? What I say is that the first stich (or the magic ring, that you reference on your video) will be on the middle of the widest part of the triangle, and then work like a fan, growing from the centre. Sorry if i don't explaing myself well, since english is not my mother language and thank you for the pattern!
Yes, the magic circle will be at the center of the shawl under the center point of the triangle. The shawl will grow on each side with a stitch increase of 6 stitches per row. + 1 stitch on each end + 4 in the center of the triangle. You can also see photos of the beginning on my post with the complete written pattern instructions here: nanascraftyhome.com/simple-crochet-shawl-for-beginners-free-crochet-pattern/ I hope that helps! 💕🌸
Currently making this as my first crochet project ever.....i underestimated how much yarn i would need 🤦♀️ 2 red heart super saver jumbos is not enough to make a shawl with this pattern big enough for me. It is turning out gorgeous, but i guess i have to put it on pause until i can get more yarn
I am so glad you like it! Sizing will definitely depend on age/size of child but the great thing about this scarf is you can simply stop when you have the sizing right if the child is readily available for "trying on" the scarf as you go. You could also measure from the neck down to where you would like the point of the scarf to the mid or upper abdomen would most likely be the best place for the triangle point to hit. Then simply go until you reach that measurement. I hope that helps! 🌸💕
I was looking for a pattern to make the fabric of the pce more winter thickness. Im going to make a sweater with a v front and back by just sewing the shawl in the front and the sides together.
It depends on how fancy or intricate you would like for your border. If you would like a more simple/beginner friendly border in keeping with the design I would recommend working a simple shell stitch border or even a picot edging. I hope that helps! 💕
So happy you like it! I am actually working on a double crochet square pattern now and hoping to release in the next couple of weeks! I hope you will like it as well 💕🌸
I’m very particular about who I follow when creating a project, and I have to tell you I enjoy your instruction! Is it possible to crochet this pattern using a HDC instead of DC?
Aww thank you so much 💕😊. I haven't actually tried it but yes you could use these instructions and substitute with the hdc stitch! Let me know how it goes 🌸 Thanks so much for being here!
Ma'am, I love to crochet but I have been stuck on blankets and scarves for years. I have tried so many tutorials which usually ended with me crying tears of frustration. Today I am happy to say that the tears were of JOY! THANK YOU!!!!!

Absolutely - just keep repeating rows to the size you would like! So glad you like it 💕😊
Fantastic and easy pattern!
Oh no - I hate running out of yarn for a project! I hope you love it once you have it completed. 💕🌸
my favorite DC triangle scarf - what size would you suggest this for a toddler and child?
What a great idea - let me know how it goes!
This is so beautiful 😮wow I love it and I need to make it thank you for sharing ❤
You’re welcome 😊 So happy you like it and I hope you enjoy making it! 💕🌸
Thank you for adding this. I am currently making this, can you recommend a boarder just to finish it off when finished please 🙂
It depends on how fancy or intricate you would like for your border. If you would like a more simple/beginner friendly border in keeping with the design I would recommend working a simple shell stitch border or even a picot edging. I hope that helps! 💕
@@nanascraftyhome Thank you, that helps alot. Just wanted to keep it simple
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
This is my favorite pattern! Do you have a pattern to make this into a square?
So happy you like it! I am actually working on a double crochet square pattern now and hoping to release in the next couple of weeks! I hope you will like it as well 💕🌸
@@nanascraftyhome Ohhhhh yes! that would be great!
Thank you very much
You are welcome - so glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
Lovely scarf! Is this good for a self striping yarn?
Absolutely this pattern would look lovely with self-striping yarn! I hope you enjoy it 💕🌸
Hi! I love this pattern and thank you for making a video, would I be able to use a half double crochet instead of a double crochet?
Yes, absolutely you could try it with a half double crochet stitch and see how that works for you! 💕
Oh my god thank you that’s so great
So happy you like it and I hope you enjoy making it! 💕🌸

You’re welcome 😊 So glad you enjoyed it! 🌸💕
If I want something with a bit more "drape" can I do a size 1 but not hold two strands together?
Absolutely! It will definitely take longer to grow but you should have a very nice shawl with lots of drape at the end! Let me know how it goes! 💕🌸
Am making this one in rainbow colors ❤️💜🧡💛💚💙
How pretty! So glad you like the pattern 💕
