    This should be commercialized on national tv. People often restrain and put spoons on the persons mouth while on seizure.

    • @YouTubeExplore777
      @YouTubeExplore777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      People think putting spoon on person tongue will prevent them swallowing their tongue

    • @nivekos581
      @nivekos581 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They only do that to avoid biting the tongue. When seizure occurs there is a sudden force in the jaw that is uncontrollable and may end up biting the tongue. The person monitoring well be the one holding the spoon to avoid swallowing.

    My boyfriend has epilepsy so this helps. Luckily he hasn’t had any at my home yet. I would be frightened but anything for him to be okay.

      my boyfriend does too and this would be my first time experiencing it with anyone. the more you experience it with him, the better prepared you are. i feel like i need to always make sure i have a towel handy when i’m out with him just in case lol i was scared at first but now i just make sure he’s at least in a good spot when he has it and then i count how long it is

      I have Systemic Lupus which brings me horrible seizures.... I've shared a few videos on Facebook and here. Suffering alone is horrible......but suffering alone knowing a loved one is able to help, but refuses to learn is devastating. Best of luck everyone. Big hugs from Sunny Spain

      How old were you at diagnosis? I was 14. Now almost 50 years later, I think I may be Autistic, and Dr. Tony Atwood (some talks of his online), thinks that severe autism can turn into epilepsy around age 14. Other comorbidities with epilepsy are ADHD, ADD, Anxiety, Dyslexia, OCD, maybe more but that's all I remember. They all affect the same part of the brain.
      The autistic meltdowns are the only thing I don't seem to have, buy my seizures are stress related. I have them when studying for exams, when moving, after a stressful event physically or emotionally (getting lost in my car, sometimes during sex, after a medical procedure, from not getting enough sleep). Whenever my body is under a lot of stress. And being strangled triggered one. I wonder if instead of meltdowns, I have seizures.

    You should automatically put someone on their side, in case they throw up during the seizure( it's happened to me, even if your not ill) or haven't swallowed in a while. Other than that, it's very good advice.

      @@cslc-fair3049 for me, personally? It's a combination of blood sugar( usually low, I'm smart enough not to go too high anymore lol) plus stress and usually ill and/ or hormones out of wack. it's very rare now, but I used to have them very often, and we weren't always sure what exactly triggered it, but we knew something did because it wasn't epilepsy. It was just put down to stress induced to save all the poking and proding.

      Put to side with ur knee beside the back,? Hold their head up. Or put a jacket or something under the head for not getting injuries. You call, or someone for help/hospital. If they were not alone, ask if this happens to him/her a lot. Ask if we can/need to call a certain person/parent who is aware that this can happen to this person, etc?

    • @EPILEPSYTV
      @EPILEPSYTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thank you for your question. You definitely do not put a spoon in someone’s mouth when they are having a seizure. People used to do this thinking it prevents swallowing the tongue, but it is physically impossible to swallow the tongue. Trying to put a spoon in someone's mouth will most likely cause damage to their teeth or injury. You just need to put the person in the recovery position.

    NEVER Touch someone who cannot respond, especially a woman. They can charge you with sexual assault and depending on the state, you might end up in the slammer. Its best to call an ambulance and dip

      Thanks for your feedback. In Australia, Good Samaritan laws offer legal protection to people who give reasonable emergency assistance to those who are injured, ill or in danger. These laws are intended to reduce bystanders' hesitation to assist those in need, by providing protection to those who act in good faith.
