    This is sick! The real power with this is loading up sampler or DMD and using your own samples instead of stock Logic sounds

    Thanks for going so in depth on the drum kit designer. I didn't even know you duplicate the snare track like that :)

    Cool tip- I often put exs 24 (sampler) on for replacement but that's a good idea to use drumkit!

    I was not searching for this. But this is exactly what I need for one of my tracks. Thanks alot.
    BTW: Knowing that your background is also Punk and Hardcore makes you even more likable.

    What is the reason for picking the virtual overhead track (and not the virtual snare track) @7:25 ?

    Great stuff, thanks for sharing! If I'm not mistaken you can also use this MIDI technique for adding / blending EZ drummer or SSD4 layers (fatten up the kick and snare while keeping the real drum kit sound with cymbals and hi-hats etc.) if you don't have those trigger features.

    Can't wait to use this on some very lackluster drum tracks where it didn't have the umph I was hoping for, but everything else was decent. It could save some sessions. Thanks!

    Great video! I'm a little hazy on one point here. I get how you isolated the snare in the audio sample. How did you get drummer to play that snare? It's there I know, I'm just not seeing how to pick out a drum kit sample from a kit and use it.

    In my drum kit designer multi output I can't setup that channel split into bd in, bd out etc.. Only bd, snare, hi hat.. also can't view the room volume controls in the main window of the drum kit designer.. why?

    does drum replacement also capture the dynamics of the original, i.e. the difference between hard and soft hits? all the videos I've seen on this subject seem to replace selected drum hits with the same sample played at one velocity level.

  • @ItzTooSik
    @ItzTooSik 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If we replace the kick with a sampled kick, is it possible to completely replace the channel. For example, that now whenever they step on the kick drum (which is coming to channel 1 in Logic) have that trigger the sample kick automatically? Instead of having to record and replace it every time we record?

    This is great. Thank you. I love the drum replacement tool - partly because it brings up all the exs samples in the library and you can quickly audition them (see 4.03 in the video). I have not found any other way of seeing and auditioning these samples from the library pane. The only other way is to use the file menu within Sampler; and that takes for ever because you have to go through six nested menus. Is there a way to find the factory samples (e.g. Acoustic snares) in the library (apart from opening the drum replacement tool)?

    • @charlestracy2074
      @charlestracy2074 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Found it in another of your videos. th-cam.com/video/KFcR2o8pBOo/w-d-xo.html. Load sample; then click on the arrow next to the instrument plugin and the library shows its patches.

    Your knowledge is crazy! I'm creating a sample library from some cool drum kits I have, is there any way for me to create a VST using Logic? Everything I research keeps pointing me to Kontakt.

    • @KinktendoShamecube
      @KinktendoShamecube 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I understand, you can make sampler instruments using Sampler in the same way you would do in EXS24 and then export them as .exs files if you’re trying to sell them. Kontakt allows for more control when creating custom libraries, but it’s totally doable in Sampler.

    Excellent video as usual Chris. I have an unrelated question however. I've had an issue a couple of times now in the last view days regarding the start location in a project. I'm running 10.5.1 on Catalina. I hit the space bar or start button on my Arturia controller and the play head moves to a different location other than where it was. It does this regardless if the cycle is off or on. I've checked the start location and it is set correctly. I discovered that to get out of this is to press CMD-U on a region. Then the play head reacts as expected, problem goes away. So is this a bug? Or is it a feature that I've accidentally stumbled upon. I upgraded to 10.5.1 the day it was available but only noticed this problem a couple days ago and I use Logic every day. Thanks!

    Chris how do you go about using third party samples for this? I have used a blank instance of ultra beat and loaded a one shot in that in the past, but I’m wondering if you know an easier way after the 10.5 update

  • @tahiche.

    Great video. It’s really confusing that you only had 3 kind of snares at the start and got all the extra snares after changing preset. Can’t grasp the reason why. Actually I believe every time I’ve used drum designer I was in that situation where I could only choose between 3 snares.
