Such a beautiful city. We’ve been on a few occasions and hope to return.
We usually stay the night in Pooler or Brunswick on the way to and from home and Florida when we travel around Christmas time, so we’re usually pretty close.

    • @selfesteem3447

The pink House restaurant serves food from the same place Applebee’s and chain restaurants get theirs... Sysco & US foods.
and Elizabeth on 37th will give you the runs… Very nasty food and the servers are putting their hands in your salad without washing their hands. They make the salad in a disgusting sink that never gets washed. When I worked there every time I eat something from the kitchen I would get a cold even though I was so healthy it would heal quite quickly taking loads of vitamin C, I would give in and eat the food again and get another cold every time. And the employees YOUR SERVERS...smoke pot at the back door, Way before it was a thing and smoking marijuana became legalized anywhere in the United States.

The Pirate’s House was a wonderful gem! Did you find any other things your children liked? We struggled with that, honestly because Savannah has so much historical information, it was really over the head of our (at the time) two-year-old.

    • @AikenAdventures
      @AikenAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I will be honest that it was challenging for our toddler. There was a lot of walking and most everything was history, which she doesn’t understand.
There is a playground at Forsyth Park and there’s a children’s museum in the city (which we didn’t cover in this video). Our toddler might also have liked the beaches at Tybee Island, but we went in the winter months, so it was cold especially for us as we live in South Florida.

Sure. I’ll look that up. I have seen where you guys have tried to comment a few times, but TH-cam kept deleting it.
Also, we are open and willing to working with travel boards as well. We’re very interested in making more Valdosta and Savannah content since those are on the Florida/Georgia border and many of our viewers travel to Florida via 75 and 95 annually.

Leopold’s is a over advertised OVER PRICED tourist trap. See they have a location in the airport and people don’t get a chance to stop there on their way in town because they’re ready to get to where they’re going and I got to say Leopold’s was very smart to put a location in the airport knowing that… But trust me the people that have stood in line and paid all of that money for that normal ice cream that exactly right...is nothing special about the ice cream. Just up the street on Broughton Street is a Ben & Jerry’s, I recommend you go there. Not to disparage this cute couple who posted this video but I was born here and I know what I’m talking about. Or go to below zero or is it zero below, it’s at Barnard behind the five guys burgers and fries at bay street. They have rolled ice cream, Crapes, and Boba tea.

    • @AikenAdventures
      @AikenAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Does Zero Below make their own ice cream?

    • @selfesteem3447
      @selfesteem3447 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AikenAdventures
      👋Hey Ya'll🤗
Not sure if Zero Below makes their own ice cream.
I know Leopold's does make their own ice cream on Price St at 37th St. And it's a shame it's not astounding but even though they do so, people who've tried it say there's just nothing notable or different to make sense for it to be so overly priced..
      As for Zero Below...
maybe give them a call and ask, also they have a location on the South Side of Savannah.
What I do recall was they poured the ice cream in liquid form onto the frozen surface they roll it from. Was the first and only time I've watched it being made.
I didn't eat there myself, I have a chemical sensitivity and can't be too careful.
I was actually there to pick up take-out for someone else.
Here's another good suggestion for a fun dessert experience in DwnTwn Savannah.
On the corner of East Broughton St. @ Lincoln St., if it's still there due to Covid...
      "The Melting Pot"
      Fondue 🫕🫕🍓🍌🫐🍍🍎🍫a great quaint atmosphere....
      and feed each other
      Talk about fun..
      And it's all fresh fruit,
my fav dipping sauce is the Flambed Bannanas Foster, they add
      🤔💭?Bacardi's rum...
      Yumm...😋
      OK one more suggestion...
If you want astounding well worth the price and it's actually not harshly overpriced for what you're enjoying, trust me !
      You can thank me later🤗
HOMEMADE ice cream, homemade chocolate Ganache with imported chocolate from France or Italy ? It's all the REAL DEAL YA'LL, homemade cheese cake right now in season... homemade pumpkin cheesecake, and I think right now their fruit pie is a thick apple berry, can add the homemade vanilla cream and homemade berry sorbet served w fresh sliced strawberries and pineapple chunks w homemade handmade Meringue.
Edit: almost forgot my fav is the Pecan Almond tart warmed w the Homemade vanilla Ice cream.
The crust is made from pecans and almonds.
And the atmosphere is romantic, but
no dress code, kids are welcome...
      Each desert is
aprox $8 - $10 this is Fine Dining.
      "Elizabeth on 37th"
Located @ Drayton St. and East 37th St.
Yes, these two dining experiences are also full menu, but it's totally fine to just order the sweets only.
It's not imperative to make a reservation for Elizabeth if you're just ordering dessert but I also HIGHLY recommend the full dining experience and if you do...
The Filet Mignon is like butter.
Any of the Fish, or Shrimp are Ocean Caught entrees...
      The Pasta is Handmade.
Guest love the Oysters Rockefeller and there the Garlic butter Muscles, or mushrooms and Grits.
They can wip you up some Shrimp and Grits too.
They are super used to dividing any entree on to two separate plates 🍽
so Ya'll can try a variety.
I PROMISE ya, they do not mind, I promise... happens aLOT.
I also recommend the BlueCheese wedge salad shared.
Anything there is AMAZING, all Handmade.
Ya'll will love the Cheezedrop Biscuits w Marmalade and Butter they keep bringing to your table but careful to not fill up on em. They'll happily make you a Togo box of Biscuits for later, just ask, they're accustomed to it.
Also, definitely see if you can get "Carrie" as your Headwaiter, she's down to earth, genuine and supercool sweet.
I've questioned visitors from All Over The World who've dined at Elizabeth, and all have told me
"Elizabeth is one of the top fine dining and best eating experiences in their lifetime and including all over the World"
There's awards all over the walls and trust me don't feel at all uncomfortable to walk about the Mansion and give every room a good look.
Best is if you do dine, make reservation at exactly 6:30 so Ya'll can see everything in daylight on arrival and enjoy the ambiance of the evening experience also.
As mentioned, no dress code however if you'd be up for it, some dress to the nines and you'll have a moment to remember and don't forget to take pictures.
Promise, they're happy to do that too😉

The locals don’t go to Lady and Sons, we go to Wilkes dining room. Back in the day it was Wilkes boarding house. You sit at a table with 23 bowls full of different recipes, at a huge family style table with strangers who may be from Zimbabwe, Japan, Canada or who live on the next block. Nowadays the tradition is to everybody stand back and take a picture before sitting down. Everyone has a glass of tea at each place setting and you pass the bowls around, southern buttered hot biscuits and cornbread are served. And for dessert, it’s Southern… Banana pudding peach or cherry cobbler or pineapple upside down cake etc. Paula Deen‘s is a tourist trap and she’s racist.
