    I have watched many of your vids,, thank you,, just never taken the time to ad a comment, however, fantastic finds!! The axe head looks like a mini version of a broad head axe. the broad head was used for flattening sides of logs down for construction of log homes, etc. many carpenters still use the mini version, it is probably flat on one side. Axe heads are way better than finding a dime!! I envy you about the 1928 dog tag!! my oldest is 1934. I also love finding dog tags!! I also say,, finding keys is good luck! keep up the good work,, I live in Alberta Canada, believe me, I know how the ground freezes,, Thx again, Syd

    • @QuarterHoarder
      @QuarterHoarder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Syd and I agree about the axe head. I love coins as much as anyone, but the relics (including the dog tag) really capture the imagination!

    Awesome video! I am currently waiting for it to warm up a bit here, (32 degrees) and I got permission to hunt a 1860s school house with the school house still standing, I'm pretty excited! As my best find ever has been a 1952 Wheatie. Hopefully I'll find my first silver coin!

    • @QuarterHoarder
      @QuarterHoarder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a promising spot. I hope you find some incredible things!

      Thank you! Sadly I think my metal detector is on it's last leg, it's been giving alot of false readings and was worried about digging big of holes. So I only dug 3 holes in 3 hours, and the best find was a really old price of barbed wire. Got to clean it up yet to date it yet. Hoping to get my Garrett soon!

    • @QuarterHoarder

      Thanks Derek. I display things with all the above! Lol. I have several shadow boxes, floor standing display cases, shelves, and flat glass cases. I will probably show some during the winter months when the weather interferes with my digging.

      @@QuarterHoarder Yeah it looks like a model 1911 colt 45 auto, famous gun, the US military used them from WWI until recently. Dillinger favored it and so did Clyde Barrow AKA Bonnie and Clyde. I'm not sure if it is still standard military issue.

    The divot tool is also magnetized and carries a metal ball marker for the green.

      Really it’s magnetized. I didn’t even think to test it. I would have guessed it was made of brass.

    Your find @ 6:48 is a ladies Victorian shoe buckle! I just found a similar one, but mine is rectangular. I'm not sure if someone else already IDed this but I thought I'd chime in just in case. Awesome find!

    I think the 5th piece might be a old Bearing Cap off of a old tractor. They are usually on the front hubs.

    The spring houses were used like a refrigerator. Eggs,milk and meat were stored

      Your right Keith. They would collect snow in the winter and pack it really tightly into blocks and then insulate it with hay. They would use that ice all summer long. They sure were resourceful!

    The cap gun parts go to a Dick Tracy cap gun from the late 30's to early 50's . As soon as you showed the silver quarter I saw it was a Standing Liberty .
    I went nuts 7 years ago and was buying some cool coins on line and this guy had a real minty 1917 Standing Liberty type I . It's the one that shows her boob and someone complained and the mint "covered her up" . I paid 165 for it , ouch , but they are pretty rare in uncirculated condition .
    Always enjoy your digs .

      Well with plastic money anyone can afford something .
      I was getting into learning American Silver and other coins as I would find some here and there in storage lockers I'd buy . This was when silver and gold was going up and up . I searched Ebay for the best ungraded coins and would see if I could flip some and maybe keep a few . Had some success but some A hole ripped me off at the flea . I was very careful with the jewelry and coins but I think the helper guy we would give 10 bucks to help unload the truck who was a homeless alcoholic stole the coins but I couldn't prove it .
      Anyway I have to wait until silver and gold goes up to recoup some of costs . Crappy thing is is that it would take a bad economy to bring silver back to 30 an ounce and that would hurt too many people .

    I'd love the link to the Axe head site. Yes it's a Divet repair tool. However yes! you can repair ball divets on the path to the hole. You can't repair spike marks. The new rule in 2019 is you will be able to repair all spots on the path.

      Thanks for the golf info, l have to let Doug know. I’ll find that link to the axe heads and post it in the description here or in next weeks video. It’s cool how every state has their own nuances in the design.

    The tag is probly the same Institute as the button, the 30 may be 30 caliber ammo, the tag may have came off a ammo box.

    • @QuarterHoarder
      @QuarterHoarder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Michael. I thought it might be off a travel trunk or a footlocker, but an ammo box is a good possibility too. The research will continue I guess! 🙂

    I enjoy your videos and like most people I like your enthusiasm narrating your videos. I just started videotaping my MD hunts in hopes to put them on TH-cam. I want to make one comment about that ball mark repairer. You can repair a ball mark that is in your line to the hole, or repair any mark you see on the green, even before you putt. It's not against the rules to do so. Hope you can identify that bag tag, and it could be for a country club where you have your locker number on the bag so that the caddy knows which locker number you have.
