World’s Last Blockbuster Video Is Still Going Strong

- With so many small businesses facing an uncertain future, the last Blockbuster movie rental store in the world isn't going to let COVID-19 bring it down. Inside Edition first profiled the sole surviving Blockbuster located in Bend, Oregon a year ago. In its heyday, there were more than 9,000 Blockbuster stores worldwide. Now, there's just one left, and Harding said the store has employed strict guidelines to stay in business while adapting to the pandemic. #InsideEdition
Just remember that Blockbuster had the chance to buy Netflix for 50 million back in the 2000s but turned them down.

What's shocking they had a chance to buy Netflix and if they bought it. When Netflix was still a tiny bug. Netflix was desperately trying to sell.
Is it possible it could revive?

@Dctctx yes
It will happen, but they don’t pay rent. It’s become somewhat of a tourist attraction! (I live in bend and have met Sandi, she’s a really cool lady). So time will tell. I say it will go out of business by 2050.

I am mad jelly. The Blockbuster near me closed years ago. I remember going to Blockbuster with the fam at around 8/9pm. Driving up to the parking lot and the giant Blockbuster logo would illuminate on the windshield of the car seeing the reflection of the logo. We would spend hours in there just because of the smell of the carpet and the snacks as well the plastic of the VHS boxes. We would rent 5-6 movies/games at a time, especially franchises like Star Wars etc etc. And after spending hours, we either get an ass ton of snacks from the cash register section from popcorn to candy to soda or we would go right next to the Blockbuster and get delicious ice cream from Dairy Queen and speed on home before the ice cream melted, so we can and watch the movie. Blockbuster was so fun I never racked up any late fees since I always went there. I still have my Blockbuster card and DVD that I never returned because I couldn't since they closed.
But man, BRINGS BACK THE MEMS!!!!!
Bro go visit this blockbuster then I'm planning on going to it myself
This hits me right in the feels. So many memories with my family going to my local Blockbuster every Friday after I got out of school to get a movie and game for the weekend.
Memories! Is there also pizza delivery to go with movie night?
stanbalo no he’s a cheapskate and made Roman noodles with corndogs
And all the snacks they had displayed near checkout. I'd always get the green sour straws every week that we went in.

Man the memories! Blockbuster and ordering food and chilling as a family on a Friday evening. Such simple times and yet they were the best.
As convenient as streaming is... you cant replace the actual "event" of going to blockbuster... the bright walls of new releases, picking through all the old movies to find favorites. The thought of buying and walking out the door with a brand new movie which you would watch over and over. The smell, the snacks and candies, the collectibles! It was the warm-up for a night of family fun, sometimes you spent so long in there it was the family fun. I managed a store in Scottsdale for a while and I used to bring my kids in for an hour to help me check in the returns... they would dive into the return box like it was a ball pit. The feeling of opening all those DVD boxes and snapping them shut was my favorite part... you got so fast at it, you would do a handful of 10 or more at a time! Blockbuster I miss you so! Bend, appreciate what you have and never let it go!
