    Out of curiosity, why do you cut the rest of your lettuce varieties down to one per cell/pot (if grown in a small pot), but not this one? I don't in zone 10b and have great results. I cut for leaf lettuce and dont grow for heads, so maybe that is the issue, but I get a ton of lettuce this way, probably 5 cuttings in the winter and 3 cuttings in the warmer seasons. August....one and done.

      Each container is at least one meal for me and Nancy. We harvest daily for salads. We also harvest 7-10 containers at a time, rinse and store in zip lock bags with a paper towel and send home with Nancy’s mother. That will last her for at least a week. We also share some with neighbors and friends. We can get several harvests before it starts to get milky and go bad. At that point we feed it to our chickens. By the time it goes bad the next succession planting is coming into harvest. We plant in 3 week intervals giving us an endless supply of lettuce on our salad bar for several months. The only months we are not growing lettuce is June, July and August.

I like the idea of growing it up on tables although I don’t have that kind of room, but you have inspired me to try this variety, but on a smaller scale lol. Could probably grow that in the screened in patio. Can you use this as a cut and come again type of lettuce or do you harvest the whole thing at once?

    • @HollisNancysHomestead
      @HollisNancysHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We cut and come again in succession. By the time the lettuce gets old and milky the next succession planting is coming into harvest. We feed the milky lettuce to our chickens. We succession plant on 3 week intervals for continual lettuce on our salad bar.

    Yall have a very interesting and informative channel. And a very neat garden, growing tables and structures. But I do have one question - how in the world do you keep the wasp out from under the tables and buildings? Maybe an odd question but I hate wasp and I know how bad they are to build their nest under such structures. 🤷‍♂👍

      I can’t keep them out but I have learned over the years how to watch out for them. I hit them with wasp spray when I find them

      @@HollisNancysHomestead That's right. It don't take but a few stings to make us watch out for them. They hide from us and then make a party out of their attacks. Just seems unfair 😉Thanks for your reply.

    Do you sell at a grower's market or something?????

      Over the years we have learned to do everything as a team. As we continue to grow old we must become more of a team on everything we do. No ma’am, we don’t sell anything. We share with friends and family. We also donate to help those in need. Nothing goes to waste. ❤️
